Do you think I should be worried? He fell asleep in the car around 1.45 ISH. Woke briefly during cot transfer at 2.15. Not heard a peep since. He is breathing....I checked

Is he hot? Does he stir if proddd? Has he been off colour today?

SleepyMcEdie · 03/09/2018 18:45

I would have woken him at 3pm so that it didn’t interfere with bedtime. Unless he had been poorly in which case I would let him sleep but keep a close eye on him.

abbsisspartacus · 03/09/2018 18:46

Poke him and prep for a long night of toddler off the wall

I’d think he was coming down with something. Is his temperature raised?

RiddleyW · 03/09/2018 18:47

Blimey I’d have woken him ages ago! I was always very protective of normal bedtime. I wouldn’t be worried though no.

bluetrampolines · 03/09/2018 18:48

You are going to be up all night.

Katescurios · 03/09/2018 18:48

Id get a nap.quick because its highly likely youll be awake from 2am ish.

If he doesnt have a temp, breathing is good not slow or too fast then i would assume he is going through a growth spurt or has had a busy coype of days and needs to.catch up.

You have to choose now though between waking him now and having a late bed time or leaving him and having an early wake up.

Belmo · 03/09/2018 18:49

Yeah I’d expect him to be up all night!

thaegumathteth · 03/09/2018 18:50

I’d be concerned he might be ill and I’d be dreading the night time if not.

I think I’d check if he was hot though and if his breathing is normal and if he’s rousable.

Prusik · 03/09/2018 18:50

We've always sort of let him do his own thing with sleep and he's always been ok but by the time it got to five I didn't know what to do so just did nothing.

He was very tired when he woke this morning, had a 45m morning nap in the car. We went to the farm. He fell asleep the second we got in the car to come home.

I'm just putting the baby to bed and then I'll take a feel to see his temperature. He's all but 20 months if that makes any difference

Harrykanesrightsock · 03/09/2018 18:51

I would wake him. He’s bound to wake at 10pm and think it’s morning. You’re in for a fun night.

Prusik · 03/09/2018 18:56

Baby is still a party animal so we can just party together Confused

NerrSnerr · 03/09/2018 18:57

I'd wake him up now and give him some food and then hopefully he'll be back to sleep in the early hours.

thaegumathteth · 03/09/2018 19:03

If he was sleepy as you say this morning too I’d be worried

Rebecca36 · 03/09/2018 19:20

Move him gently and see if he wakes. Then he'll want to pee and have a drink at least. It's not unusual btw, I always let mine sleep and wake up when they wanted and no harm done.

After a good partying night you and he can have a long lie in tomorrow :-).

Prusik · 03/09/2018 19:25

I just put a hand on his back at 7 to feel his temperature. He's running a temperature but not a fever, according to my very scientifically accurate kiss test.

I woke him by accident. He's cried for 20 minutes and DH is now putting him back to bed with a cup of milk.

Should I be concerned about the farm visit?

OP posts:
AnnieAnoniMoose · 03/09/2018 19:33

I personally wouldn’t be concerned, I’d assume his body was fighting off a bug or something. He was tired before the farm, so no, I wouldn’t be worried about that. Generally when they did this they slept through and were fine, once or twice it was the start of things like tonsillitis and only once or twice they woke at stupid o’clock and figured it was time to play.

However, could he sleep in with one of you if you’re worried?

...and the usual disclaimer, if you are seriously worried then take him to see a Dr. Walk in or A&E. I’ve never known anyone in A&E mind checking a small child over, despite MN’s cry of ‘It’s NOT an accident or an emergency’ 🙄

Prusik · 03/09/2018 19:50

We do have a good out of hours service if necessary but I'll see how he goes in the night

OP posts:
Prusik · 03/09/2018 19:52

Thinking about it, now you mention tonsillitis, he is a carrier of hsv and prior to previous outbreaks he has been pretty tired. Also teething makes him sleepy. He still has four molars to go

OP posts:
Rainatnight · 03/09/2018 19:55

Have you taken his temperature with an actual thermometer?

AnnieAnoniMoose · 03/09/2018 19:59

See how he is in the morning and if he’s still out of sorts use one of the Emergency appointments they have. He’s very little, he needs seeing straight away if he’s still not right.

I hope he doesn’t wake at silly o’clock and is fine when he wakes up. I’d try to keep contact between him & the baby to an absolute minimum. The last thing you need is the baby getting sick too 😣

Prusik · 03/09/2018 20:13

I've not taken his temperature. He's not burning up, just warm. We've had plenty of experience of 38, 39, 40, 41 temperatures with him and it's definitely on the lower side of a temp.
If he sleeps till morning and is still out of sorts I'll definitely pop him to the doctor tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately I can't keep the boys apart tomorrow. I'm on my own with them all day tomorrow and we can't afford DH to lose a days wages

OP posts:
Prusik · 03/09/2018 20:14

Ds2 isn't exactly newborn though so hopefully it'll be ok

PhilomenaButterfly · 03/09/2018 20:17

Mine did this once at preschool. Fell asleep in the Cosy Coupé, was very drowsy, absolutely fine the next day. No idea what caused it.

Quartz2208 · 03/09/2018 20:17

Yes I would assume he is ill particularly if he has a temp
