quavers for 9m old?

i work in a shop and there is a girl that comes in to buy her 9m dd quavers.her dd is 2weeks older than mine and i dont think i would dream of buying her quavers.is this just me being weird? she comes in quite often and just gives her dd the packet.if we dont have quavers she buys wotsits or something similar

My dd has had quavers at that age, not the best IMA but ho hum.

Perhaps you do some things that she wouldn't dream of doing too?

oh right, so are they ok? i mean obv theyre not an amazingly nutritious snack, but things like that are ok if for ex you are out and they are getting narky?

My DS2 has just turned 9mths, he has had some quavers and crisp things, only 4 or 5, but never a whole packet .

Yep I always carry a packet of rusks and a packet of crisps just in case.

Thing is you can go too far sometimes, I mean its a packet of crisps! We all ate them, my mum always gave me chocolate buttons and a packet of quavers.

depends how you define 'ok'
won't actually kill them as an occasional thing, but better to get something less salty eg salt'n'shake crisps and bin the salt sachet.

It's different strokes for different folks. No doubt there are things you do, or will do, that others will gasp at and declare, "I'd never allow that!"

Though, ahving said that, quavers wouldn't be my first choice for a 9m old.

Well the thing with quavers are they melt in the mouth, whereas salt and shake etc are very sharp in places.

depends what your particular 9mo can cope with

Haven't tried dd2 with quavers yet, but she loves those moon biscuits that are meant for 12 mth olds

It was not something that i thought too hard about back then ....least of my problems at that time iykwim

well would it surprise you to hear that a hv suggested i try ds on wotsits when he was a bit younger than that

to get him used to having solids but that would be easy to eat (melt in the mouth)

she wasn't exactly recommending whole packets, but still...

i think the salt levels could be dangerous if the baby ate the whole pack - should be less than 1g a day info

Yes but kids screaming, dropped shopping, raining late for bus - packet of quavers are a Godsend, when they hit teenage years they will be scoffing pizza and pot noodle anyway

IIRC quavers are one of the saltiest snacks on the market, much worse than ordinary crisps.

Wouldn't do it myself but then I have met people who wean their kids on Mcdonalds milkshakes. I despair of some people but at the end of the day unless it's majorly dangerous I just keep my mouth shut. I never realised how many people would comment on how I raise my child and I hate it. Am determined not to be one of those people myself. Just take a deep breath and be glad your baby gets fed properly.

Ive got to admit there is always a bag of quavers in my bag when we go shopping just in case they get hungry. Its not too terrible is it?!!! In fact I think it was ds first finger food!!

What the cr*p! Is there no ACTUAL food where you live?

I'm not quite sure what the parent's diet must be like to consider it fine to feed such young children on that rubbish, but, shoot me down in flames, it's the wrong thing to do!

There's so much good food out there, whatever your budget, that it's just not acceptable in my book.

no, they should not be a staple part of any baby or toddlers diet, the odd bag won;t be that bad

Hi there people dont be too quick to judge.

My Ds2 had reflux as a baby which carried on up until he was 14 month. He had difficulty chewing as a result and often gagged on food.

the ped dietian said he needed the confidence to chew , so we needed to give him things that would dissolve in the mouth to help him to build the confidence to chew, one of the things she mentioned was Quavers .

Whether its right or wrong and the nutraitional value when you have a child who has an eataing problem and will throw up at the drop of a hat you will try anything.

So you never know what issues the child may have so dont be too quick to judge.

True, there is the odd child who is the exception to what is generally given as we're unique, and there are certain situations where as a last solution it's a fine idea. However, quavers to a 9month old sounded like a regullar occurence to me as I read and it seems a lot of people do it.

I say again, it's bad, bad, bad!
