When did you get your period back after birth

So i didn't know I was pregnant until I was 15 weeks gone. I went to the docs questioning why I could go for such long periods of time without a period, I could not have a period for 8 months or so and then have one then go again for months without one or them to tell me my bloods show I'm oregnant. We tried for a baby for about 2yrs with no joy, so stopped "trying" but I never went back on the pill, hence my DS here now.
So I still haven't had a period since and DS is 9 months, I EBF for the 1st 6 months now I am expressing rather than actually feeding from me direct. The doctor advised that when you are nursing you don't have periods so will not look into it again until I stop feeding.
Everyone who I know who breastfeed had periods, so my question is really when did you get your periods back and for those who breastfed, did you get them back whilst feeding or only when you stopped.

I’m 14 months into breastfeeding and mine haven’t come back yet. Dd doesn’t feed much in the day anymore (and I’m at work/she’s at nursery half the week anyway) but she has a good feed at bed time (feeds to sleep) and might wake once or twice in the night to feed as well.

Fed dd1 until 21 months and I think they came back before I stopped feeding but after at least a year of being absent.

I did have an implant fitted a few months after birth both times but still have periods on it so I’m sure it’s the feeding that’s delaying them.

I got mine back after 4 months & I was EBF.

AssassinatedBeauty · 25/05/2018 19:13

Around 11 months both times, correlating with when nighttime feeds reduced to (usually) none.

Oh I was EBF as well.

LoislovesStewie · 25/05/2018 19:18

After I stopped breastfeeding.

Pickleshickles · 25/05/2018 19:20

21 fucking days despite ebf.

YogaPants · 25/05/2018 19:22

Dd is two next week and still none. She still feeds in the night but i’ve been back at work for ages.

I am getting a little impatient. I want to start ttc for number 2 soon and I am on approx. day 1000 of the cycle I first conceived on nearly three years ago.

giggleshizz · 25/05/2018 19:24

2 years almost and breastfed the whole time! Happy days.

goingagain · 25/05/2018 19:29

With all of mine periods came back once babies were consistently doing around 7 hr stretches at night. #4 is now four months old and has been doing this much sooner than the others did... I fed the others until they were 16-20months old.

Novia · 25/05/2018 19:29

9 weeks and 5 weeks despite EBF!

goingagain · 25/05/2018 19:30

A friend of mine (also has four) doesn’t get periods back until she has totally stopped feeding (and hers slept through earlier and were mix fed). Everyone is different..

EssentialHummus · 25/05/2018 19:32

Eight months, one BF a day, they just came back (with terrible timing!).

betterbemoreorganised · 25/05/2018 19:34

3 months and I was bf. I was very disappointed

SirVixofVixHall · 25/05/2018 19:36

A year each time. It seemed to be dropping a feed that triggered it, as I did that with both dds at the same point.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 25/05/2018 19:37

About 11 months and ebf

RedPandaMama · 25/05/2018 19:38

Mine came back at 5 months when I started giving solids as well as BF. Quite depressing as they used to last 4 days and were light. Now they last 3 days but it's like... a flood. Envy (not envy)

MoHunter · 25/05/2018 19:51

After around 9 months or so with DS1 (mostly BF and pumped with 1-2 supplement formula feeds/day) and around a year with DS2 (EBF).

There’s huge variation either way, I know my mum’s came back after only 5-6 weeks despite EBF with all of her children. She thought I was very lucky! Grin

It's been 8 months and no periods yet. Been breastfeeding but down to only a couple of feeds now (alongside formula) so I feel like periods will be back soon and rather worried they'll be back with a vengeance

Serafinaaa · 25/05/2018 20:10

I haven't had one since I got pregnant with my first four years ago! Grin

I'm only breastfeeding my second, who is 18 months old, once a day.

butlerswharf · 25/05/2018 20:13

28 days despite EBF. Was f'ing fuming!!! Grin

HellenaHandbasket · 25/05/2018 20:52

Around 6 months each time. Ebf and still feeding through night.

Ohyesiam · 25/05/2018 20:55

First one I fed for about 2 years, got period at 18 months
Second one I fed till 13 months, got period a day after he stopped.

mostdays · 25/05/2018 20:55

15 months after ds1, 18 months after ds2, 2 months after ds3 (idk why- I was fully breastfeeding him just like the others. It was so annoying).

mostdays · 25/05/2018 20:56

I was still feeding ds1 and ds2 when my period returned, but obviously by then they were eating a varied diet also.
