When did you get your period back after birth

So i didn't know I was pregnant until I was 15 weeks gone. I went to the docs questioning why I could go for such long periods of time without a period, I could not have a period for 8 months or so and then have one then go again for months without one or them to tell me my bloods show I'm oregnant. We tried for a baby for about 2yrs with no joy, so stopped "trying" but I never went back on the pill, hence my DS here now.
So I still haven't had a period since and DS is 9 months, I EBF for the 1st 6 months now I am expressing rather than actually feeding from me direct. The doctor advised that when you are nursing you don't have periods so will not look into it again until I stop feeding.
Everyone who I know who breastfeed had periods, so my question is really when did you get your periods back and for those who breastfed, did you get them back whilst feeding or only when you stopped.

I got my first period today. I’m ebf and my ds is only 13 weeks!! My first was bottle fed and I went back on the pill at 5 months pp without ever getting a period first. I am super ridiculously regular, but I never expected that it would happen this soon given I’m exclusively bf. Ds has never so much even had a bottle of expressed milk, it’s on demand from the tap, though he’s never fed loads at night and the past two weeks has largely been sleeping through (I know, I know! My ff fed one was up every 3 hours until she was 3!). But I didn’t think my bloody period would be back so soon. We’ve been avoiding sex out of fear of an unplanned pregnancy (we’re 2 and done, coil is going in next week). We nearly threw caution to the wind the other week thinking no way my cycles would come back so soon...
