**HELP**HELP**HELP**how do I get marker off the wall........before 6pm!!!!!

Dc2 got hold of dc1's markers, made two delightful scribbles (one large, one medium in the kitchen/diner!!!!! Need it gone by 6pm tonight. It's not wipeable/washable paint (chosen and went on before we had dc). So far I've been using wipes, which has ever so slightly lighted the occasional "streak" of marker, but really not made much impact.

What do I need to know? How do I fix this??

Bleach?

TheVanguardSix · 16/05/2018 12:47

vodka or Cif- though gently as it can fade paint.

lostinsunshine · 16/05/2018 12:48

Why does it have to be gone by six?
You have small children. This stuff happens. If you don't have the paint available to touch up and you can't realistically hide it behind moved furniture, I would shrug it off. And plan getting it all repainted at some point.

Flash magic sponge removed crayon and pen from my walls. Hairspray is good for getting out ink stains not sure if this is a good idea on paint though.

Whitelisbon · 16/05/2018 12:49

Alcohol wipes got rid of green sharpie off my nice white walls, took a bit of time but it worked well.

unintentionalthreadkiller · 16/05/2018 12:49

Magic eraser from Lakeland.

TheVanguardSix · 16/05/2018 12:49

I'm serious about the vodka by the way. I know it sounds like I'm being all MNy and advising you to sit down and have some Gin but neat alcohol works a treat on biro and marker. Give it a shot. Err, no pun intended.
Vodka/Rubbing alcohol are wonder workers on ink.

Littleredboat · 16/05/2018 12:50

What happens at 6?

HollowTalk · 16/05/2018 12:50

Magic eraser - you can get it from any supermarket. Wet it and rub - the marks disappear.

Nail varnish remover

MySoggyBottom · 16/05/2018 12:51

It's not a huge deal, surely? Shit happens with kids, just repaint in a few weeks. It's just marker

TwinkleTee · 16/05/2018 12:51

Hand Sanitiser!

HollowTalk · 16/05/2018 12:51

If it doesn't go completely, you could repaint that bit of the wall, if you know the name of the paint.

knockknockknock · 16/05/2018 12:53

Hairspray?

Maccapacca88 · 16/05/2018 12:54

Pledge multi purpose polish in the blue and yellow can. Got pen off my marble fireplace. Patch test first though!

lostinsunshine · 16/05/2018 12:54

Op, what is going on in your life at 6 that would be destroyed by the sight of wear and tear? Is the BBC doing a live broadcast from your house or something.
On a more serious note, I'm sure it's really maddening and rubbing alcohol on it gently might be worth a shot.

mammyoftwo · 16/05/2018 13:01

Thank you for all of these, cue quick run to shop for a serious cleaning session this afternoon!!!!

(for those who asked, and I know I'm going to get told off by mn but hey no........................my dh has told me on many occasions that markers shouldn't be in reach of dc2 etc etc etc, this am I had given them to dc1 while dc2 was engaged in something else, but unknown to me still managed to grab them for a minute. So as bad as this is to admit, dh is home at six and I just can't be bothered with the "I told you so" today).

IlikemyTeahot · 16/05/2018 13:22

vodka or one of those flash erasers

Theknacktoflying · 16/05/2018 13:22

mammy - really?

Advice would be to tell your husband that sh*t happens and to suck it up ...

sugar soap?

AdoraBell · 16/05/2018 13:25

Hope you get the marks off. Re your DH, if he comments on having told you not give them markers tell him to watch them next time you are doing XY or Z to make sure they don’t do what most young DC do.
