Best quality and worst quality clothes for toddlers?

Hiya ladies,
DD starts nursery for 3 days a week in September and I'm looking to get some basic clothes for her as I know nursery includes messy play with paints and all sorts! So don't really want to dress her in smart clothes for nursery. Any brands you'd recommend to me that are "nursery day wear?"
She wears clothes from primark and mothercare mostly, but I find they shrink after a few washes!
As for best clothes I am looking for some that she can wear on weekends when we have family days out. I do love next, but I find them so expensive! Any ideas anyone?! Also how are George / Asda clothes? I saw a few bits online she would look gorgeous in, but don't want them shrinking either 😩

Big fan of sainsburys clothes for my two. The clothes wash and tumble dry really well and they do some lovely stuff. I recommend them to all my friends with DC.
It’s not badly priced and about 6 times a year they hold a 25% off event which is (obviously!) 25% all clothing. The next event will probably be during May half term at the end of the month.

Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s here. Also boden in the sale and gap from our local outlet store.

I like Asda for nursery clothes I find them good quality for the price. Do you think next is more expensive than mothercare? I don't my daughter has a lot of next.

Lidl Lupilu is excellent. Washes brilliantly - DD2 is wearing a cotton jumper 4 years old now. They often do sets of Ts and leggings for about £5 which are perfect for nursery

@IAmALionTamer actually DD was wearing a top from Sainsbury's today! I do love Sainsbury's clothes, they're gorgeous, but I always miss the bloody sales

@Glassofredandapacketofcrisps now you've said it, I do agree. Although I did look at getting her a pack of tops from next, but they were £20

Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's are always good clothes.

H&M are another and Next are ok if you can find them in a discount outlet. We have one nearby and the clothes there are good value compared to full retail

I swear by hm & Sainsbury's. Hm dresses shrink over the course of a summer but at £1.99/£2.99 a pop I can live with that.
Next sale is usually good for plain leggings/t shirts.

My DS lives in Asda and Sainsburys clothes. I can't justify Next and John Lewis anymore as he's always so mucky.

I agree Sainsbury’s and h and m great for nursery bits. I’ve also bought 5 packs of t shirts from M&S which have been brilliant and washed very well. Joules are lovely but expensive so I usually limit myself to a fleece or something that will get lots of wear if I see a sale on.

I like Sainsbury's clothes and get a lot from there. When DS1 started pre school I bought some multipack t-shirts and trousers from Next which lasted for ages and were still in good enough condition to be passed down to DS2 when he outgrew them.

@charlottexox I think the next 25% off event will either start Tuesday 22nd or Tuesday 29th May. They don’t publish the dates in advance but if you’re sad —like me— then you can usually work out the pattern

I found Asda to be terrible quality lately! Used to rate their clothes when I had DS a few years ago but find them poop now. But I do buy a few bits for pre school from there.

Sainsbury’s is pretty good and they often do 25 percent off! I like Morrisons clothes too!

I also used to love next but don’t rate them too much now. Their clothes shrink the most out of all brands I think!

Tesco do a few bits too!

I quite like m&co. Not cheap but if you sign up to their club you get money off vouchers regularly (25 percent off etc) and their clothes are good quality.

Matalan used to be good. I haven’t been there in a long time as it’s miles away 🤔

Tesco’s clothes are good quality as are Sainsburys. H and M I found more stylish but not very hard wearing. Gap are good but on the small side. M and S and Next are fab but ££ so I only get sale stuff. Primark in the next size up as it shrinks (as you know!). Boden are excellent but not one for Nursery in my opinion as it only gets wreaked.

Definitely Sainsburys. Tescos and Boots do some nice stuff, but I find they come up small, so always buy a size up. I used to love M&S but have been a bit disappointed with how well some of their stuff copes with washing - it looks worn out very quickly. Next is lovely but I would only buy in the sale.

I’ve been really impressed with Lidl.

Sainsbury's 25% off usually coincides with school holidays. I get emails telling me - I think I ticked a box on the Nectar website? They only tell me when it's started though, not in advance.

Boots mini club is great! Also H&M & Morrison’s

I think George at asda are fairly good but Sainsbury's have been a revelation to me. I can't believe the quality after washing and they look more expensive. A friend of mine works there and picks me up bits using her staff discount 😁highly recommend

I find asda cheap and also comes up pretty big so don't mind if it shrinks a bit. I use these for nursery so don't mind so much when they are spoilt.
TBH DS ruined so much stuff that I bought him a load of charity shop clothes for next to nothing just for nursery

I think poloran o pyret is brilliant quality and always last ages for my little boy I only buy in the sale though. They have a shop in our local Fenwick and often have things on half price. I agree with Sainsburys being good for multi packs I got a 4 packs of t shirts for ten pound.

Primark stuff is dreadful!

DS1 is really tall and grows like a weed, so I hate clothes that shrink!

NCT sales are good hunting ground for nursery clothes.
If it survived one child and endless washes it should be able to cope with messy play.

Morrisons are great and cheap. For more expensive clothes Polarn O Pyret are fabulous quality - we have several t-shirts and dresses that are still going strong on their second child. Eye watering prices, so I only get one or two things at a time, and only in the sales!

Local Facebook selling sites often have bundles of kids clothes going cheap, worth doing for messy play.
