It seems like I'm the only one. According to Facebook atleast. My son is super excited to earn his next lot. There must be others though right?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Twickerhun: The phrase ‘are you on glue’ seems apt here.

Obviously not, because the glue would be an add-on present. D'uh!
(You'd get the glue-pot first, then the lid, and then the little brush, and then, and only if you were very, very good; the glue.)

SimultaneousEquation · 29/12/2017 19:18

Okay, I have realised the BIG flaw in the OP.

Dressing gowns don’t have buttons. I cannot find a single kids dressing gown online with buttons. I am thinking more and more this is a wind up.

Or the OP adds to the joyous nature of progressive presenting by making her own dressing gown for her ds.

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 19:21

The buttons are for the coat . Keep up people!!

Simultaneous
Dd had a dressing gown with buttons from mothercare when she was little.

I thought they were extra buttons. Does her ds want to be a pearly king? 🤔

MrsPringles · 29/12/2017 19:33

*Mummyoflittledragon

‘Pearly king’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂*

starzig · 29/12/2017 19:47

Am I the only one that thinks buying a child a coat for Christmas is odd.

CircleofWillis · 29/12/2017 19:50

I think the OP is using a ‘progressive posting’ technique here. The more obedient reactive responses she gets the more interesting her responses are. Colourful buttons anyone?

GerdaLovesLili · 29/12/2017 20:05

Colourful buttons anyone?

Nope, I have my Nan's button tin. Full of lovely family treasures.

Valerrie · 29/12/2017 20:08

OP, you are bat shit.

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/12/2017 20:15

Colourful buttons anyone?

No but I have a lovely yellow biscuit for the op. Biscuit

Perhaps she enjoyed that one so much I could give her some more Biscuit Biscuit.

Hell, how about the whole pack Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit. Afterall she’s been such a good girl.

SheSparkles · 29/12/2017 20:17

Has anyone worked out what the buggering fuck the OP is on (about)?

Justabadwife · 29/12/2017 20:20

Right bare with me, I think I've got this!
Child gets presents for xmas
And a book, you earn extra books by reading the 1st book.
If child keeps their room tidy they get buttons
Parent buys additional 'upgrade' presents, but the child is not allowed these "if they want them" so I dont know what happens to these
Our children will grow up ungrateful because we do not follow this weird present giving ritual.
Everyone on mumsnet is a liar because quite clearly we all do this and are just taking the piss by pretending we have no clue.
I think thats it.
Can I have a button now?

ApplesTheHare · 29/12/2017 20:20

I don't call goady often... But when I do I quickly progress to fucker, and then troll. It's the progressive conclusion Grin

Justabadwife · 29/12/2017 20:24

@apples
I think you get a button, but you can upgrade to Velcro or zip if you want?

fastfrank · 29/12/2017 20:25

I don't usually shout but your post is infuriating

FFS OP YOU'RE NOT MAKING ANY FUCKING SENSE, STOP BEING FACETIOUS AND ANSWER PEOPLE'S GODDAMN QUESTIONS SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT THE BASTARDING FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

EvilDoctorHogmanayDuck · 29/12/2017 20:26

starzig I once bought DD a coat for Christmas, much smarter than her everyday one. She asked for it.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 29/12/2017 20:28

god no. Sounds like an excellent way for a child to learn how to expect rewards for bloody everything. One step removed from bribery. Not a good lesson at all.

AlexaDoTheDishes · 29/12/2017 20:30

Yes me! I do this!

If I think DD will like a series of books I buy her the first one for Christmas (or it could be birthday!) and then if she likes it I might get her the rest of the series in dribs and drabs over the year if she behaves well or gets a good report etc.

Also if she gets for instance a bike, one of the things I might get over the rest of the year if she enjoys the bike is the basket, or a baby seat for the back or even eg a water bottle for it.

She got a barbie house last year and loves Barbies, so over the course of the last year she got the barbie car and a couple of Barbies, if she was good or even for instance on her birthday!

Yes it's a great idea.

I thought everyone did it though?!?

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/12/2017 20:31

Justabadwife
Are you trying to be a pearly queen too? Stop lying. Wink

Hoppinggreen · 29/12/2017 20:33

alexa but when does she get the special buttons?

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/12/2017 20:33

Alexa
No not through the year. That would be spoiling her.

Justabadwife · 29/12/2017 20:35

@mummyoflittledragon
I'm flouncing off and taking my buttons with me.

TheFSMisreal · 29/12/2017 20:37

It seems like one troll sinks their teeth in and it's done for. Everyone just follows inline, ignoring all the replies and making up their own little fables. You people taking the piss out of a loving age old tradition for what exactly? You probably don't even know yourself do you? Thanks to the legitimate replies, sorry buttons freek you out. Im out 😘
