Party Invitations

Hi All

Could anyone please shed light on whether I am fretting unnecessarily or not?

My daughter started reception this year, and we have decided to throw her a birthday party, with predominantly school fiends asked. Out of 60 children we sent 15 invites. The rsvp cut off date was 2 weeks later. Somewhat disappointingly, to date I have only received one yes. We have another week left. I guess I was hoping for speedy replies, or at least a trickle, but absolutely nadda, apart from the one prompt answer.

I'm trying to stay optimistic and patient, but failing on both fronts.

Hit me with both barrels ladies. I need a reality check.

Also should I chase people up come the rsvp date?

email or whatsapp the parents a reminder? it's customary to invite the whole class in reception....

Can't do any of the above, as I do not know any of the parents. I confess to feeling awkward when sending the invites, as we are using a soft play venue and finances would not stretch to 30 children. I did not realise this was customary.

It's fine to invite 15 kids! Nonsense that you have to invite the whole class!

I did wonder whether the invites had been received, but I handed one to a daddy myself, plus received that one yes.

I don't know why people always say to email or text as how on earth would you have those details?! Our school wouldn't give out names of the children in the class never mind contact details

I would maybe send a reminder invitation if the rsvp is reached. How far in advance did you send them?

I can't understand this about rsvps? Is it an English thing? I've never had this problem with dds parties and no one I know has ever mentioned it.
Just text them all now and ask if they are coming?

Some people invite everyone and some don't. If it's pay per person then numbers will be more limited than if you book a hall where it doesn't matter so much

For example, if you're rsvping to am invite yourself, save the parents number. Lots of people have been together at nursery it's not uncommon to have the numbers of other parents! 😂

Sent beginning of November, for party in mid December. We wanted to lock it in due to most people's diary being busy that time of year.

you've maybe sent them too early then. 2-3 weeks is the notice I normally give

I would go up to them in the playground and ask them directly. A friend and I recently threw a joint party for our 5yo dd and ds. Even with two of us trying to chase up RSVPs, out of 30 invitees we had the following:

11 said they would come and then came.
1 said they would come and then didn't.
4 said they couldn't make it.
12 didn't respond.

You sent the invites early November? So it’s been a week at most?
You need to give people until the RSVP date before you start panicking.

We get a class list with all the numbers and any details people want circulated at the beginning of the year, put together by the parent class rep. I couldn't do invitations without it for the first couple of years at school!

It's a minefield.....will chase for dd's sake, but will be well out of my comfort zone.

I would not chase people yet as we're only at the start of november so the party must be a month away. I would send a reminder a couple of weeks before

Well lo and behold a reply has just rolled in, albeit no, but still an answer yay. Just want to know what numbers I'm working with. Patience never has been my strong suit. The fretting just stems from wanting the best for my dd. We had to cancel her party last year as she had hand, foot and mouth.
