It's about £40 I believe.

Does your daughter want her ears pierced? (They aren't your ears so you shouldn't really be making these sorts of decisions about them.)

And gun piercing is inferior to proper piercing in a professional piercer's. I wouldn't go near Claire's.

Caulkheadupnorf · 29/09/2017 10:48

I've just googled it for you and it says starting price of £15.

My sister got them pierced there when she was 7. They were wonky and became infected!

Look on YouTube for ear piercings at Claire's vs professional piercers.. and you'll see what difference it makes having it done properly!

I won't get my DDs done until she asks. And when I do, I'll be going to my piercer. I would never go in Claire's! I only ever hear bad things about them!

Please don't get them done at claires. Look into local piercers who use a needle, its much more hygienic

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 29/09/2017 11:03

I second getting it done at a place that uses needles, not guns.

Mumof41987 · 29/09/2017 11:15

It was £45. My sister took her daughter to Claire's and it's a rip off . I took my dd to a local beauty shop and paid £18 and got a much nicer service and choice of earrings

Stuffofawesome · 29/09/2017 11:17

the piercers at BLue Banana were very professional. very clean premises.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 29/09/2017 11:18

Too much!

Quartz2208 · 29/09/2017 11:21

Agree go to a beauty shop or tattoo parlour its much better! It should be around 20-25

Most of these places wont pierce under 7s either - when I got my daughters done she needed to say that she wanted them done

crazycatgal · 29/09/2017 11:23

It was £15 for me, but the earring was too short so that when my ear swelled up due to the piercing the front of the earring kept disappearing under the skin. I then went to a piercer and got the earring changed for something with a longer bar. I wouldn't recommend going to claires.

YouBoggleMyMind · 29/09/2017 11:32

Don't use Claire's.

2014newme · 29/09/2017 11:36

Local beauty salon will be cheaper and better

DeleteOrDecay · 29/09/2017 11:49

I agree do not go to Claire's.

How old is your dd? You really should let her make the decision, they are her ears after all.

confused123456 · 30/09/2017 11:35

It's £15 when you purchase a starter kit. That includes the studs and a bottle of cleaning solution I believe.
I had my 1st ones done with a gun when I was a baby. My 2nd lobe piercings were done with a gun also. I also have 2 cartilage piercings that were both done with a gun, the 2nd of which was done in Claire's.
I had no problems having them done with a gun. I don't see why people are so against it. (How is a needle less painful when they push the needle through, pull it out, and then have to push the earring through and put the back on?). A gun it's done within a minute.
I didn't use the solution Claire's gave me, because I'd used salt water every time before, and it worked fine.
I know a lot of people would say avoid it, but I wouldn't personally.
Also those saying it should be your daughters decision, I don't agree with that either. My mum got mine done as soon as I was old enough and I'm so glad. (If I have a daughter, I will get hers done as soon as she's old enough, none of this wait until she can choose stuff).

AlpacaLypse · 30/09/2017 11:39

I'll bite... confused123456 good thing you don't have a daughter to mutilate.

AlpacaLypse · 30/09/2017 11:41

I have pierced ears. Both my daughters have pierced ears. But we all got to choose when we were old enough to make an informed decision and look after the healing holes properly.

karalime · 30/09/2017 11:45

I paid £24 at my local tattoo and piercing shop. It was done in a private room, every single piece of equipment that touched my ear had been sterilised in an autoclave and she used sealed needles.

Quick, mostly painless and no problems afterwards. Unlike when I had them done at Claire's.

PinkBlossomTree · 30/09/2017 11:49

Mine recently had her ears pierced at Claire's for her 10th birthday. We paid £55. £20 for each earring and £15 for the bottle of solution.

tiffanysfanny · 30/09/2017 12:02

It might be cheaper at the chemist

Proudmummytodc2 · 30/09/2017 12:06

My daughter got her ears pierced in Claire's with18crt gold earrings and it was £65.

WineBeforeCake · 30/09/2017 12:17

Everyone on mumsnet always says use a tattoo shop. I went into about 20, and NONE would pierce anyone under 18, even a simple ear lobe. Not a single one. God knows what planet everyone is on who keeps suggesting it as a viable option. It’s really not that viable! 😂

And in my experience, nobody uses the guns anymore. They are little quiet clipper things.

My eldest has three in one ear lobe and two in the other (obviously she’s an older teenager!) and you can’t tel which was done in an independent beauty type place and which was done in Clare’s. Similarly, no difference to my younger one who had them done in a “nice” jewellers.

I interrogate the people doing them 😂 But they’ve always been very professional, careful, clean and lovely... wherever I have gone.

WineBeforeCake · 30/09/2017 12:19

PS forgot the answer the question 😂

It entirely depends on which earrings you choose.

I never went for the cheapest, so between £40-60, wherever I went.

You need to give permission for an under 16.

00alwaysbusymum · 30/09/2017 12:24

I think I paid about £45 ish in Claire's for piercing and 18 carat gold earrings. My daughter was 1.5 yrs old.

I didn't want to go to Claire's but no where else would do them at that age. The girls in Claire's were really nice, we were given the solution, I used it once then let nature do it's its thing and we have had no problems at all. She's 3 now.

Ps she's still wearing her earrings from Claire's. Have never taken them out.

00alwaysbusymum · 30/09/2017 12:28

Oh and yes my daughter was 1.5 yrs old, she loved her earrings. And didn't cry at all !

Mine were done at 3 months by my mum, and don't feel mutilated! Have always worn earrings, love them and always will

RaynaJaymes · 30/09/2017 12:29

DD aged 6 recently had hers pierced at Claire's for £50 with the rapid healing solution
No problems at all with healing but one earring snapped within a few weeks.
Claire's customer service impossible to get through to over the phone but after an emailing they agreed for the earrings to be replaced at my local store.
No problems since
