help!!! bad bad nappy rash- advice needed!!!

can anyone recommend a cure-all cream for nappy rash? my ds has it really bad (not yet to the bleeding stage, but starting to weep). Have had nappy off to let the air get to his bum, and have been putting sudocream on it, but not really improving. He's teething and seems to have an upset tummy, meaning he has a poo at every feed and sometimes more often...

advice greatly appreciated

Kamilosan. Ds has only ever had it once, just a small patch that started to bleed and the only thing that shifted it (almost instantly) was kamilosan.

skirmish · 07/04/2007 20:56

really...don't have any kamilosan but have a tube of lanisloh (or whatever its called) left over from bf...would that be ok to use do you think?

Metanium is brilliant.

My dd had horrendous nappy rash and along with lots of nappy free time Metanium was a God send.

Tui Bee Balme - fantastic stuff. I think you can get it from Born . Also good health food shops.

TooTicky · 07/04/2007 21:05

Looks like Born don't sell it any more but these people do.

TooTicky · 07/04/2007 21:07

Or here of course!

skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:07

thanks tooticky...have a baby balm from neals yard that seems similar to that one, so will give that a go...am sure it is bothering me more than its bothering him!

NAnother vote for metanium once you can get to the shops ... in the meantime, ds had really sensitive skin & sudocream always made him worse ... best thing for him was good old fashioned vaseline
Hope he feels better soon

skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:12

right, sudocream going out the window...will try everything else tomorrow...now, if only i could stop him having a poo every five minutes, life would be a lot easier (esp, with nappy off!!!)

OP posts:
pobletsmum · 07/04/2007 21:14

Stop using the Sudocream - it's really not very good for baby bottoms. Drapolene is fab - HV recommended it when DS had horrid blistery nappy rash. He winced when I wiped his bottom

Hope it improves soon.

kittypants · 07/04/2007 21:14

cant you use egg whites or something?also i was adviced silk liners but ds cleared day before they arrived!

kittypants · 07/04/2007 21:15

whys he pooing every 5 minutes?

skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:15

egg whites?

we use disposables btw

OP posts:
skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:16

i don't know why he's pooing every five minutes either...it's a new thing ...could it be related to teething, or medicines used for teething? we are using ashton & parsons, bonjela, and the odd bit of medised when really upset, but have used medised with no probs in the past

OP posts:
kittypants · 07/04/2007 21:18

cant think what you do with the egg whites but im sure i was told egg whites!i asked about the poo as isnt it the mix of poo and weee that makes then sore(im very tired and probably sound v.dumb)

Nemo2007 · 07/04/2007 21:20

kamilsan with sudocrem on top

skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:22

OP posts:
kittypants · 07/04/2007 21:36

,and i am on here instead of bed!!!!

skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:37

but is there any point going to bed only to get up in an hour and a half to feeding my pooping child?!

OP posts:
bunnypeculiar · 07/04/2007 21:38

They do poo more/poo tends to be runnier when they're teething, I think. Or did I make that up? Tired too

skirmish · 07/04/2007 21:40

thanks bunny...it makes sense to me! there sure is a lot of dribble, so only makes sense that a lot of it is being swallowed...though most of it does seem to be on the front of his t-shirt/ in my hair/ on my face/ on the carpet etc etc

OP posts:
bunnypeculiar · 07/04/2007 21:45

Yes, that's right ... saliva ... you're obviously less asleep than me!!

helbel3 · 07/04/2007 21:58

Metanium is like magic cream, go to bed with rash wake up, gone / almost gone Always keep a tube in

kittypants · 07/04/2007 22:01
