Useful to know about the crying stuff. Dd may find herself left a little longer from now on. Generally I am well impressed with her self-settling skills; I can leave her awake and chewing a toy and there will be more and more silence. But from time to time I go to her very quickly when she cries, just because I don't nec. expect it of her. This might mean that her naps are cut short?

Judd, I am looking forward to some weaning stories. Dd hasn't shown any interest in big food but if she was I'd be sorely tempted, because her appetite is still pretty impressive. Shall try and go the full 6 months but fear that my sticking power might not be that... sticky.

Libb that's exciting... a mini meet-up!

It was much fun but sadly we had to hole up in a pub as the skies opened big time! nasty nasty pub . . .

Our naps usually go something like this, I'll write todays version. This is quite precise for today because I was thinking about this last night so timed her.

dd2 woke and fed at 7am and then had a nap in the pram on the way to school so she slept from 8.45am-9.30am approx.

She then fed at 10.45am and went back for a nap at 11.10am, she woke up crying at 11.30am but I left her and she went back to sleep and woke up at 12.05pm.

She got up and we played together, well I sang her lots of silly songs and she laughed at me a lot She then got grumpy so I put her back to bed for another nap at 1.45pm and she slept until 2.45pm when she woke up herself. She had another feed then and we left for school just after 3pm.

She had a small nap on the way home from town, went into town after school, so she slept from about 4.45pm -5.15pm approx, we were in Asda doing some shopping when she woke up.

She had her last bottle at 6.30pm and went to bed at 7.45pm. Didn't have a bath tonight, I don't give her a bath every night as often I'm by myself and I'm pushed for time getting her and dd1 ready for bed, doing homework etc. She gets a good wash every day though so she doesn't smell, lol

so all together she slept approx. 3hrs 5 minutes today. That is pretty much the same routine she follows during the day every day. If I could just get her to stay awake until 12pm then sleep for 2 hours I think it might be a bit easier but she doesn't seem to want to do this. Maybe it will come with time.

When she gets put down for her naps in her cot at 11am and 1.45pm ish, she grumps for a minute or two and cries but I know that if I leave her she goes to sleep. If she keeps crying and starts getting hysterical I go back into her but usually she's quite happy to find her thumb and drift off to sleep.
I'm amazed at how structured dd2's day is, dd1 was never like this but then I never really tried to put her into a routine as we didn't have to be a certain places for certain times so it didn't matter.

all those babies are so cute it's so nice to see them getting so big and looking like real people iykwim.. I'm going to post another one of dd2 that I took last weekend with our webcam. It's the first photo I have of her smiling, dd1 had to stand beside me and make her smile, she frowns at me when she sees me with the camera. I'll need to upload it so I'll post a link later.

dd2 isn't getting weighed this week as the clinic is closed. She gets her next set of jabs next Monday and I'll take her to get weighed next Wednesday.

My granny keeps asking when I'm going to start solids. In her day they started them on solids when they reached a certain weight. I think dd1 was around 16/17 weeks when I started her on solids. Was defintely over 4 months as those were the guidelines back then. If I'm sitting eating something in front of dd2 she watches me and opens her mouth as if to say come on wheres mine? LOL

It's one of them, libb. From memory others were: being able to sit upright when propped (i.e. doesn't slide down or slump to the side), the protusion reflex to stop (the thing that makes them spit out whatever goes in their mouth), being able to move their tongue from back to front as well as up and down. I think there were others too...

stupid AOL won't let me upload my photo's so I'll try again tomorrow. This internet is driving me mad just now, if it's not blooming messenger it's something else.

libb · 24/08/2004 22:28

I think I have sussed it - maybe . . . try:

everybody up for late night feed?

Linnet · 24/08/2004 23:02

Aww Libb he's so cute. :)

Can I just ask are the photo's that you posted available to the public or are they only available to who you choose to share them with? thinking of doing an album with photobox but I'm a bit wary of who will see the photo's, I'm a bit of a paranoid mummy.

GeorginaA · 24/08/2004 23:04

Nope... well... dh is doing it!

I'm just too disorganised to be in bed yet. Plus, I'm still too traumatised from reading Charlotte Gray.

BTW, can we start a new May Babies... part 3! thread for those of us who don't have broadband yet (sniffle)? Download times are getting a bit lengthy again.

I am hopeles with techie stuff but think they are now public - I think I did opt for private to start of with but you have to type each person's email address. I was worried about strange people but then I saw how many public folders there are! I decided to take my chances - I guess you can always remove them if you are worried.

DS is asleep and so I really should be too.

libb · 24/08/2004 23:06

go for it GeorginaA - do you think we have the record? I think it must be me . . .

spots · 25/08/2004 08:45

lovely boy libb...

Now I must try and suss the camera download process so that I can get mine on the go. I am only in nursery as far as photo technology goes.
