What do you do whilst breastfeeding

.... when you aren't gazing lovingly into your baby's eyes ofc.

I feel guilty if i e.g watch tv, MN. but then my saintly mother exclusively read fine literature throughout but I still grew up a total reality tv fan . we can be here for 2+ hours every evening and there isn't even another adult here to say hi to.

TV, Internet or reading my kindle. Paper books are abandoned until I'm no longer breastfeeding. No need to feel guilty.

Needsomeflapjacks · 26/07/2017 20:44

Choose a box set.

And some tasty nibbles and settle yourself on that sofa!!

Teacakequeen · 26/07/2017 20:44

My son wouldn't let me read , he kept trying to see what I was holding. I was forced to watch box sets !

Pelvic floor exercises! Honestly invest in your future!

DeleteOrDecay · 26/07/2017 20:54

I used to just play on my phone (always made sure it was nearby if I was on my own). Don't feel guilty, watching your baby bf is lovely but there's no need to feel obliged. Bf can be a bit boring at times.

RandomDent · 26/07/2017 20:57

I used to watch the ER reruns on Sky Atlantic. They got me through both maternity leaves.

drinkyourmilk · 26/07/2017 20:59

Play on phone. Read kindle (can't hold paper book while wrestling an octopus ).
Watch TV.
Birch on WhatsApp about my baby being awake!

drinkyourmilk · 26/07/2017 21:00

I obviously bitch on WhatsApp not birch

SquedgieBeckenheim · 26/07/2017 21:02

Mumsnet
Internet shopping
Read on my kindle
Pick fluff out of DD's hands
Watch TV
Curse the fact I forgot to get a drink before feeding
Supervise DD1 from the sofa
It varies basically....

TisapityshesaGeordie · 26/07/2017 21:05

Me and one of my mum friends joked that The West Wing theme tune would make us spontaneously lactate, because that's what we watched when LO latched on for a megafeed.

StopShoutingAtYourBrother · 26/07/2017 21:08

Box sets, films and kindle!

anchor9 · 26/07/2017 21:09

mayhew preach 🙌🏽

ah yes the hand (and foot!) fluff. also like to clean Sir's tiny little waxy ears.

Currently browsing the Internet on my phone.

Argeles · 26/07/2017 21:11

Tv - often on number 1 volume with subtitles on.

Mumsnet/Ebay/general internet stuff.

Reading books for my uni course.

Notlostjustexploring · 26/07/2017 21:22

My Netflix subscription was worth its weight in gold over mat leave, and my smartphone it's weight in diamonds.
I think I intended to read the classics while breastfeeding. I've discovered that I can only read books I've previously read as my brain can't cope with new stuff!

I also signed up to a 'cash for surveys' website, which entertained me for a bit and kept me awake during night feeds.

I sometimes googled something intellectual to keep the wheels turning, but not often!

AreWeThereYet000 · 26/07/2017 21:24

Play on my phone
Eat
Watch TV
And if my DS is home not at school/dads usually we have a cuddle too

affectionincoldclimate · 26/07/2017 22:55

First 6 weeks - rewatched the entire 7 series of Mad Men. It was just perfection.
Mumsnet
Social media
Do my finances - emails, account
Organise life - booked some flights during cluster feeding time 😆
checking, accountant emails
Banter on text/whatsapp
Write - as in creative writing

Crumbs1 · 26/07/2017 23:05

First one stared lovingly at her for ages or sipped a mug of tea. Last one did a Waitrose shop, cooked supper or had a nap.

rightsofwomen · 26/07/2017 23:12

With DS1 I watched telly in the day and read all the books at night (pre smart phone days).
DS2 I played on my phone. Had been looking forward to reading more books but he was a much more efficient feeder.
I did watch some Sky True Movies as well.
DS1 was born when the Kosovo war was happening and I remember watching the live news in the small hours.
Or I made phone calls.

Ahhh, sweet memories.

MinisWin · 26/07/2017 23:15

Watched 11 series of criminal minds. God she loved the boob in the first few months...

Spam88 · 27/07/2017 21:36

ASOS and H&M made a good amount of money from my breastfeeding in the early weeks. She's down to 10 minute feeds now though so I never get as far as checking out...

Orangepear · 27/07/2017 21:39

MN, buy baby clothes on eBay and Facebook, do swagbucks surveys. Take a photo of sleeping baby, and little pudgy baby hands and feet :)
