Not anti-north - am a northener - just got the negative feedback from those quarters. Would do Theo but feel like I would be giving up on my thea - not prepared to do that yet (will wait for 3rd boy - grimace)

No one has ever used it in a derogatory way to my Jesse and he is nearly 13.I never gave it a second thought we picked it because we liked it

Strangely, I think of Jessie as masculine sounding. There are a few northern Jesses that I can think of but, have to say, was vaguely relieved I had another girl. And didn't dare tell anyone about considering Jesse before the baby was born (except on here ) because I knew what the reaction would be.

Baysmum · 08/03/2007 22:53

Actually Francis (Frankie) is a contender - just dont LOVE it.

Theo is lovely and I would have used that but DH wasnt keen.

Bay and Theo.

Bay and Finlay.

Bay and Kian.

Bay and Drew.

Bay and Max.

Bay and Niall.

Not all names I like but some are a bit different!

cece · 08/03/2007 22:54

Thea was to be my girl's name. Had DS and actually chose a name that began with j.

Baysmum · 08/03/2007 22:54

Like Jude - but not quite enough to use it. Can I ask where you live Noddy - are you a Brummie like the man himself?

No I live in sussex. Can't believe that anyone would be scared of a reaction to what I consider a normal cool boys name.

cece · 08/03/2007 22:56

Jonny

hairymclary · 08/03/2007 22:57

Piers
Otto
Gabriel (Gabe)

Baysmum · 08/03/2007 22:57

Like Arlie but too unusual - am sick of repeating and explaining Bay! I Like Finn and Finlay esp due to surfing connotations - v big in this family BUT DH not so keen.

Baysmum · 08/03/2007 22:59

Love Gabriel but Gay and Bay - or even Gabe and Bay - cant do. Sorry Noddy - obv love the name and am only put of by reactions to DS1 name. Otto no - am a teacher and its one of those dont go there names, ditto Piers.

Bodhi? Like Patrick Swayze in Point Break? Surfer connections there.

gtimama · 08/03/2007 22:59

I really like Austin.

Like boys names that are cute on toddlers and manly on men!

Flamesparrow · 08/03/2007 22:59

I love Jesse

shonaspurtle · 08/03/2007 23:00

Not so good if Scottish (which obv you're not) as you big jessie is a fairly common insult (equivalent is big girl's blouse). Otherwise I think this is a really nice name. kind of American Country.

Stop it HM - am easily persuaded into daft names - am trying to be more conventional here. By the way Cece - love Jonny (my bil name) but just still not quite right - sigh.

It doesn't really have to go with Bay, though, does it? Most of his life he'll be an adult and people won't be coupling him with his big brother...

My Barnsley piano teacher, Jesse Blacker, was a lovely old man. He was always so disappointed but polite about my lack of interest in practising, I still feel guilty now! And he was so spirited, even when he got very old and had to have his leg amputated (bad news for a piano player) he had someone bring him a keyboard so he could keep all the other patients entertained.
