hi all
my baby girl is 12 months
im stay at home mum,so going out is crucial 2 my servival! she sleeps in her buggy 4 about an hour.when she wakes i give her biscuits, banana, water, toys, anything to occupy her for an hour or two. then she gets bored and tired i guess and screams and screams and nothing will make her calm unless i run home. she doesnt walk yet.
any mums had similar proplem.

so you are out in the buggy for up to three hours?

thast too long

ScottishThistle · 06/03/2007 14:07

You could dress her in a waterproof all in one & allow her to crawl around on the grass for 20mins!

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:08

well,it takes me around an hour to dress har and myself and take the bus to the shopping centre.and another 1/2 hour back.
don`t you think i deserve more than 3 hours out?

take her somewhere where she can stretch out.

ScottishThistle · 06/03/2007 14:10

Some children just hate going to the shops I'm afraid!

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:10

i think i can let her crawl on grass or inside a mall.
wont anyone look at me though and think im a freak?

OP posts:
misdee · 06/03/2007 14:12

who cares what they think.

cant you take her anywhere else?

btw 3hours, oooo that wouod be luxery [misdee drools]

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:13

ill try to let her stretch out next time and see what happens. im thinking of taking her sleeping blanket out too,so can go and sleep again if she`s tired.

OP posts:
misdee · 06/03/2007 14:14

so she sleeps in the pushchair and then you go out?

cant yuou go out when she is awake before she naps?

Enid · 06/03/2007 14:15

dd3 (10 months) would be bored shitless if she was in her buggy for 3 hours

she need a proper crawl around or a sleep or a meal

what calms her when you get home?

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:16

i dont go out every day
just once or twice a week if im lucky thats why i spend the rest of the week looking forward 2 going out and all i get is a screaming baby
i`m thinking now of never having another one.
how on earth do parents with 2 or more go out?

OP posts:
Enid · 06/03/2007 14:16

she sleeps in her buggy while you are at home?

ScottishThistle · 06/03/2007 14:17

God no, let her crawl on the mall floor for 5mins, it'll tire her out & she'll be much more likely to want to go back in the pushchair!

Enid · 06/03/2007 14:17

I dont need to go out for 3 hours every day

don't you have things you can do at home?

or can you not go to a friends where at least your dd can have a crawl around?

Enid · 06/03/2007 14:17

dont let her crawl on the mall floor

just dont go to the mall

take her swimming instead

ScottishThistle · 06/03/2007 14:18

Hardly practical to say to a Mother don't go to the mall ever! is it?

Let her crawl on the mall floor for 5mins, it won't kill her!

Enid · 06/03/2007 14:21

well I don't go to the mall ever!

we survive!

Enid · 06/03/2007 14:22

actually thats not true

we have a twice yearly trip to cribbs causeway

millies cookies all round

but seriously there have got to be more interesting things to do for a baby

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:22

she likes staying at home a lot.
watching her favourite shows, playing with toys and crawling on every corner of the house.she doesnt leave anything without touching it. shes avery active baby, even at home i have to occupy her all the time.
oh my god,i just realised how impossible it must be for her to keep quiet in the buggy all this time.
i thought she`ll have fun just shopping with me!!1

OP posts:
oranges · 06/03/2007 14:24

can't you stop for coffee somewhere and take her out of the pushchair, and either let her crawl at your feet or play with her?

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:24

she doesn`t sleep in the buggy at home, just outside

OP posts:
Enid · 06/03/2007 14:25

she will probably love shopping when she is a bit older and you can have a cake etc together

12 months is a difficult age - seriously have you thought about taking her swimming

gnu · 06/03/2007 14:27

Makes me think. DD (11 months) just loves going shopping, sitting in her pushchair looking at everything around her. She's very happy to spend a day out like this (5 hours even), broken with meals in a high chair and a nap. Of course, she's not yet figured out how to crawl or pull to stand so I'll make the best of this time until she know's what else she might prefer to do!

I don't actually see a problem with this as an activity. I think she enjoys looking around at people and things, especially on a nice day.

morethanamum · 06/03/2007 14:28

i dont go to the mall all the time. sometimes i go to the park or to friends. she usually likes it more at the park. at other peoples homes she plays a little and crawls around as long as im on her sight.then she get bored and starts the same movie again. i end up going home as well. shes very clingy, and just likes to be at home with ME.

OP posts:
Enid · 06/03/2007 14:29

well tbh she sounds like dd1 - also very clingy at this age

it was a pita

but I learned to cope by doing things in shorter periods of time - an hour at a mates, an hour shopping, an hour at the park

if she has got worse in the last few days she might be getting poorly?
