HELP URGENT PLEASE

Hi All,

Please help, my 17 month old DD has been having horrendously runny poo's that have been burning her bum & surrounding areas but has cleared up.
However, from the first nappy change this morning - she's acting like she's been abused!
She'll let me wipe her bum no problem, but she will scream out in agony if I try & go anywhere near her vagina to wipe it, just after a wee!
She shakes with pain, I've tried just having a look but she struggled & will do anything in her power to not let me anywhere near it!
Have been using cream given to me with possible yeast infection having been diagnosed before - nothing.
She screams, cries, will NOT let me touch it.
No diet change, normal poos again, bathed daily....
Please help me she makes me feel so guilty but I just want to help

Can you stick her in a warm bath?

Also, just to be clear when you say vagina, do you mean vagina or vulva? (I ask because DD got poo in her vagina when she was wee)

Can you take her to the out of hours GP? She may have a uti.

DS was like this once, but only for a few days and only after FIL had fed him a shit load of cherrys. I ended up just hosing him down in the bath the get the poo off and then letting him run around naked for as long as possible.

I'd get her looked at though as, from what you've said, it doesn't sound diet related.

Is she drinking/ weeing normally? Could be a uti, the bath suggestion above might help.

Warm bath, leave her nappy off where possible, baby calpol and make her a doctors appointment in the morning. I wouldn't advise using thrush cream that has been prescribed previously.

Have already bathed her today after she fought me for the bum change.
Weeing & drinking fine. No changes there.
Umm well, I use vagina only to cover all bases! She won't even let me touch the outer lips to open to have a look.

She's in pain, so first off Calpol.

Keep her baths free of soap/bubble bath.

Make sure she's drinking plenty of fluids.

Try nappy-off time, as much as you are able - let air get to the area.

When you can, apply a very thin layer of nappy rash ointment (I'd go for Bepanthen or the yellow one...name I forget now sorry! ) Dont apply if there is broken skin though.

If she's still in a lot of pain tomorrow get her to the Dr, just to make sure it is "just" nappy rash and not thrush or an infection.

Nappy rash can be bloody awful and this sounds just like the worse end of it. Poor little thing.

What are you using to clean her? Wipes, even gentle pure ones, sting like crazy on sore skin. Try warm water on cotton wool and pat it dry don't wipe as it may be making it hurt more.

A warm bath with some salt in it may help.

She's been on paracetamol since this morning. I use PURE water wipes and have since birth.
But if she won't even let me anywhere near it - what chance have I got of her letting a doc?
She's had so much nappy off time today.

Sorry just read your OP properly, it could be a UTI. Definitely get her checked at GP tomorrow.

Dr can put her on antibiotics, it sounds like the problem is the urethra which would equal a UTI.

Having had a few myself they are bloody agony and as a grown woman I've been reduced to tears.

You're doing everything you possibly can and it isn't clearing or getting better so 100% - Dr.

Don't keep wiping it then if it's just a wet nappy for now. A doctor doesn't necessarily need to examine her if you can describe her symptoms.
They will also take her temperature to rule out a UTI. A sample of her urine would be helpful but I appreciate it is difficult to collect one at her age.

Every time she wees or poos, think bidet.
Sit her in a sink, washing up bowl or baby bath and use a jug of warm water to help clean her, than plonk her on you softest towel and let her air dry, pop the heating up a bit if you need to.

I suspect she needs to drink more as if she's having a runny tummy and screaming in pain after a week her urine might be too strong and burning her. My eldest is a terror for not drinking enough and every now and then her vagina lips are red raw after wees and she has to hold a wet tissue there to neutralise the urine. If possible get your LO to wee in a bath of plain water (so she's sitting in the water for this)

Please don't use cream prescribed for an adult on a baby when you don't know what's wrong with her!

Call 111. Can you get a clean potty and have her wee on it then take s sample to out if hours if they send you there aloe GP tomorrow?
My DD harms kidney reflux and gets uti regularly. She's now 8but started when she was 10 months. She still gets very red and sore inside her bottom and vagina, all the way up and it's really horrible, she shakes too and metanium works a treat

Check her temp but it'll probably be low as you've been giving her calpol

Okay just to reiterate - the prescribed cream was prescribed FOR HER in the past for a possible yeast infection & I was okay-ed to use it over the weekend after her appointment on Friday.
The only reason I'm ruling out a UTI is that she drinks plenty of water & no pain whilst peeing, no soreness AFTER peeing.
Was just wondering whether anyone else had encountered such a thing with theirs?
Honestly, all I want to do is have a look at it, she will fight and scream & cry.
She's never been like this. She will just let me wipe normally & get in there to get the poo out etc. but to flinch just going near it, just, scaring me a bit really.

My dd was like this recently albeit not as extreme, she wasn't physically shaking with pain but was really sore and wouldn't let me near. I gave her as much water as possible and kept her as dry and clean as possible for a few days and it went away. No nappy cream or anything on it. I'd take her back to the GP for your own sanity. They can put a wee sticky bag on to collect wee to check for a UTI just in case. Hope she gets better soon.

Is she still sore from.the poo? Ds had terrible sores from his 'teething poos ' and would also twist and cry and scream. Use cotton wool and water, much kinder than any wipe. I pat dry and then apply sudocrem to the sore areas, it doesn't seem to sting and protects it from wee and poo next time.
