Highchairs

I am looking for some advice re. highchairs.
I am absolutely lost picking one - there is so much choice.
I need it to fold away easily and have a price range of about £50 at the most.
I was looking after the Mamma and Papas 'Pesto' highchair.
Any advice is appreciated.

Honestly, just get the IKEA Antilop. It doesn't fold away, but the legs snap out easily and it's far and away the best high chair out there.

The aldi one looks very good

I discovered with a high chair that the tray being as close as possible was important.

My children used to get cross if they couldn't reach the food properly

The anti lop whilst cheap, doesn't have an adjustable tray

Yep, I'd agree with the Ikea one. We pack ours away easily by removing the legs, and it is SO easy to clean. No faffy fabric linings or shoulder straps that get chewed. Best one we've had, by a long long way.

I have the antilop, I'm in the minority but I don't think it's as amazing as everyone makes out (my dd doesn't like having her legs dangling & she thrusts up against it and it's so light I have to wrap my leg around the high chair legs to lift her out otherwise I lift up the entire chair) however it's easy peasy to clean, very cheap and lots of cafes use them.

Get a wooden one. Stokke great but pricey, I'm sure mothercare or similar sell cheaper ones. Then easy to wipe clean and no tipping

We have the Stokke Tripp Trapp and it's great. It is a bit pricy but you should be able to get a second hand one in good condition as they're hard wearing. They don't fold away but you can push them up to the table and they have the advantage of looking like a normal piece of furniture unlike most high chairs.

We have the baby Bjorne one which is pricey, but all plastic and adjusts with the baby. My parents have the ikea one which he sits comfortably in too.

I don't like the ikea one, ds gets out of it and it doesn't fold I couldn't be bothered taking the legs out everytime I put it away.

We have the chicco polly which I love, was nicely padded and lies back so was great when he was younger and would fall asleep in it and adjusts to the height you want it and the tray has a detachable tray on top which makes for easy cleaning. Ds is a big 18 month old and still fits comfortably.

We had a Mamas and Papas plastic fantastic (similar to the Pesto) for a while, I preferred it to the Antilop as I found it faster to fold up. I also tripped over it less (I am very clumsy), the Antilops legs stuck out a bit far for me and I couldn't see them...ditto for the Stokke tripp trapp which I loved apart from that.

I used to like the Mamas and Papas one because they could nap in it after a meal. I only had them in the Mamas and Papas until they were big enough for one of these though.

My daughter has got the Pesto highchair for my granddaughter at home and it's fab - I bought the M & P Juice when it was on offer to have at mine and the seat is amazing, really easy to clean but a complete pain in the backside as the legs don't fold. I'd get the Pesto one too if I had the choice again.

We have an oxotot which is pricy (was a gift!) but great if you could get second hand. Easy to clean and that all important adjustable tray which gets really close to the baby for them picking up food.

My in-laws have the IKEA Antilope for when LO is over there...it is great in terms of cheap price and easy to clean, and you find them in many restaurants.

However, they have the space in the kitchen and so they never pack it away- as a result, I think that all the adults at some point have tripped over the legs as they splay out quite a bit.

Luckily LO was only sat in there on one occasion...but you can imagine a 6 foot plus grown man tripping over one of the legs!

I prefer a wooden highchair at home (Stokke Tripp Trapp)- it is so easy to clean, you adjust the size as LO grows. It is possible to buy a separate tray that attaches or you can bring it up to the table.

They are pricey but if you look on ebay/local listings, you can get them for a reasonable price second hand (I bought most of the bulky baby equipment second hand- cot/bed/changing table/pram pushchair- this was with my firstborn which I guess is a bit unusual, judging by our friends & acquaintances, we were almost the only ones who did this!)

When it's not in use it can be left at the table like an ordinary chair- I love it as it looks like a normal piece of furniture and LO will be using it for years to come!

Ikea is the best IMO.
So easy to clean compared to fabric covered chairs and you can get a cushion for it for whilst the baby needs support.

Another vote for the Antilop - this is pretty much the 1st thread I have seen here where the Antilop isn't unanimous!

Ikea antilop is the best one. Even went in the dishwasher once.

I recommend the Ikea one too. The inflatable cushion is great for younger babies and means you don't need an adjustable tray.
We were worried we didn't have enough space for it but actually it sits next to the bin and doesn't get in the way.
The only downsides are that there is no footrest and also when DS stands on the floor and hangs onto the tray it topples down and crashes on top of him.

Ikea is the best. We've tried loads at various places and it's the only one where DS is sitting up properly on his bum rather than slightly reclined so he slides down. The padded Ines look nice but are a bastard to clean whereas the ikea one is really simple so wipes down or goes in the dishwasher. Plus they are dirt cheap.

After various different high chairs, including the antilop, we've now got a booster seat with straps that attached to the one of the dining chairs. Adjustable height, removable tray, harness etc. So much easier than faffing with a high chair tbh.

Antilop with the inflatable insert is excellent for when they're small though, and it's definitely the easiest to clean. Portable too. We took ours camping

We have the Joie mimzy snacker. It is fantastic - one of our best baby buys. Have a look and see if it is available anywhere online in your budget because I can't recommend it highly enough.

I have a Cosatto supa noodle which I do love but it's not the smallest thing in the world. The main thing is to get something easy to clean. Basic, wipedown and easily folded / stored away would be my advice.
