Cleaning foreskin - 3 year old.

You have to clean under the foreskin, right?

DS's foreskin now pulls back (of his own doing) so to clean it we just pull back, quick wash and done?

OK maybe not applicable to a 3 year old, I'll admit that. But no one else should be touching it as that's a job for the Penis owner

DS1 (16) has managed perfectly well without us having to clean under his foreskin as a child. I presume he does so now, I've never asked nor had any dealings with his penis other than the obligatory wipe/wash down in the bath.

I would definitely just leave it alone. Genitals are really rather good at taking care of themselves under normal healthy circumstances.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 21/09/2016 18:32

Now you're being ridiculous

Trying to clean something that doesn't need cleaning can cause damage.

AdaLovelacesCat · 21/09/2016 18:32

I am afraid I agree with sleepfreezone - not something I would wish to be remembered for, thanks.

I have an 8yo DS. No-one has ever cleaned underneath his foreskin. He's fine.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 21/09/2016 19:49

Hi all,
Looks like the OP has had her question answered. We know that everyone is trying to help but we have deleted all goadiness and personal attacks. Peace and love and all that.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 21/09/2016 19:52

My deleted post said something along the lines of "cleaning before it needs to happen can end up causing damage."

Owlytellsmesecrets · 21/09/2016 20:04

We've got 2 boys 9&7. DS7 still in nappies as disabled and we've never touched their bits. Soak in the bath has been enough !!

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 21/09/2016 20:04

Jason, if that was all it had said it would not have been deleted.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 21/09/2016 20:15

I've made no personal attacks on this thread.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 21/09/2016 20:16

I've not been goady on this thread

And i've not troll hunted on this thread.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 21/09/2016 20:35

I suspect you've taken my captalised "DEMETED PIXIE" as a personal attack, but failed to read the thread and realise that is the posters username.

mistakes happen, but if this is the case it does highligh an issue.

Soubriquet · 21/09/2016 20:40

Must say, it would never occur to me to clean my sons foreskin and looks like I was right

oldlaundbooth · 21/09/2016 20:41

Thanks for the replies everyone Smile

No problem 😎

I feel DementedPixie got a bit of an unnecessary roasting here. S/he didn't advocate a third party forcefully pulling back a child's foreskin. S/he suggested that the child himself can give it a swoosh in the water, which is pretty much exactly what is said on the page that was linked to earlier:

'Once your son can pull back his foreskin, you can talk to him about pulling back his foreskin and washing. A simple explanation of 'how to' may be helpful:

gently slip your foreskin back
rinse the head of your penis and the inside fold of your foreskin with warm water
slip your foreskin back in place over the head of the penis'

WhatWouldCoachBombayDo · 21/09/2016 21:57

I'm with wading all pixie said was he should leave it alone and just give it a "swoosh" under the water. Confused

SleepFreeZone · 21/09/2016 22:16

Everyone agreed that it should be left alone so the OP got her answer 👍

Wadingthroughsoup · 21/09/2016 22:30

Everyone agreed- except the page linked to, which suggested parents tell their child how to clean his penis, once he can pull his foreskin back.

Wadingthroughsoup · 21/09/2016 22:31
