Weirdest reason for a toddler tantrum?

My dd who's almost 2 has started crying and having a melt down every time I throw her dirty nappy in the bin ..I'm at a loss to understand the weird nappy related attachment she seems to have developed over the last few days?
Anyone else's little ones have an odd reason for a tantrum?

I remember my nephew having a meltdown because his 2 year older brother "had 13 chips on his plate and I've only got 12". I'd tried to get the piles about even, but, bugger me, when I counted, he was exactly right. So I ate one of older brother's chips, and they BOTH burst into tears....

We have been out for a walk and lunch. DS had a meltdown as we left the restaurant because he wanted to take the owner's cat home with us. The cat was non-plussed and stalked out into the garden looking like the noise was hurting his ears. The owner tried everything to placate DS- offered him an italian flag to wave, a breadstick, even played his banjo for him but DS was just over-wrought by then and shouting 'Puss puss puss puss'.
We could not get him in his pushchair and he was bright red and wailing very loudly. DH picked him up and carried him and I pushed the pushchair. He stopped eventually and fell asleep in his pushchair
When we got home he went after our cats who ran off and are sitting on th shed roof out of his way and he is wailing again. DH and I are letting him get on with it. He is lying on the sun room floor feeling very sorry for himself. We have come into the kitchen. We can hear him and every 30 seconds or so he says 'Puss, puss, puss puss' and it sort of trails off into a sob. Honestly!
His drink is waiting for him- he'll get bored in a minute and come in here for a cuddle.

Then dd was 4 (now 14) because I wouldn't let her go toilet, whilst she was sat on the damn thing doing what she had to do! This lasted for an hour after too.

judging Fuss was soon over and he sat on my knee with his drink explaining to DH about naughty cats - in his 20m language. DH listened very carefully, nodded and agreed how naughty they were Grin

I asked mine to get her shoes on. To which she screamed "you ruining my plans!!!!!"

Trying to put into the buggy always triggered mega tantrums. Even if she was so tired she sat down on the ground.......

Lol after soft play
DD: can I have water please,
Me: sure, let's buy some at the cafe.
Cue crying but I want water I need to drink
me: I said yes, let's go
Crying about Needing water

DD fell over in playground, but if a cut, tried (biggest mistake) using the same distraction my mum used with me an my brother.

Me: look what a giant hole you made in the ground, bet it goes to China
DD: I don't want to go to chinaaaaaaa

Sighhhh

15 month old demands doors be closed. Slightly ajar will not do. Screech.

Barbadosgirl · 04/09/2016 23:15

I could not arrange for him to take a ride in the Ninky Nonk.

WankingMonkey · 05/09/2016 18:17

OK we just had the poo thing too. Must be a 'thing' Hmm

Wasn't a tantrum as such..more inconsolable sobbing. I felt so bad for him but I was not giving in and letting him keep the shite filled nappy.

cudbywestrangers · 05/09/2016 19:36

Ds1 (3) repeated tantrums are because:

He doesn't want to be 4 when it's his birthday

He wants pedals on his bike (not ready yet, have told him he can have pedals when he's 5)

He doesn't want pedals on his bike when he's bigger

He doesn't want to be married

He does/ doesn't want to drive a car when he's a grown up

And heaven help anyone who opens a yoghurt or banana!!!

Really hope he grows out of them soon...

My dd (3) has a blue firm fit the other night because her poo wasn't pink. Took me over 2 hours to calm her down enough to sleep again
