Weirdest reason for a toddler tantrum?

My dd who's almost 2 has started crying and having a melt down every time I throw her dirty nappy in the bin ..I'm at a loss to understand the weird nappy related attachment she seems to have developed over the last few days?
Anyone else's little ones have an odd reason for a tantrum?

Simplynigella oh that is strange! Never heard of that before and also not actively potty training but maybe it's a sign that it's time to start!

Actually, DS did start potty training himself by doing a poo in the book corner at nursery not long after so maybe they are even more related than I thought.

Because i gave her a biscuit including throwing said biscuit on the floor and stamping on it ConfusedShock

Dd wanted me to drive the car from the passenger seat.

In the end we reached a compromise. I would sit in the driver's seat and I would sing Let it Gooooooo all the way.

ItchyFoot · 24/08/2016 17:12

Dd's latest thing is asking for help doing something, so she'll hand you the item she needs help with and then before you can do anything she'll snatch it off you saying "No it's dd's name's!"

Yesterday, Because I didn't have the garage key on me to open the garage. Cue 40 minutes of screaming.

Today, because I took her dirty bib off.

Sigh

We should put them all in a room together without adult supervision.

MrsBellefleur · 24/08/2016 20:39

This morning because she wanted to listen to "Love yourself" and I was taking to long to find the bloody song!

ItchyFoot · 24/08/2016 22:25

idont they'd probably play quietly and happily just to mess with us!

idontevencare · 25/08/2016 07:12

That's true itchy. Maybe we should do it for that reason then!

froubylou · 25/08/2016 07:17

Because he doesn't have asthma.

Removed my inhaler from his grubby hand. Explained it was mine as I have asthma. He declared he has asthma.

Full meltdown when I said he doesn't. Apparently I am cheating.

This was a few minutes ago. It's going to be a long day.

We have quite a lot a bit like these.

Had a classic banana being broken one the other day. Hand him a banana, he breaks it in half then cries for 20 minutes because it's broken. Also when things don't fit in other things and he feels they should - toy truck into milk bottle, mr potato head into the shape sorter, that kind of thing.

Oh and a new one this week is rage at anything that looks like it might be a sticker but cannot be peeled off the page. So that would be all pictures in all books except his one Usborne sticker book then.

mrsgendry · 25/08/2016 13:27

My 3 year old once threw a fit over me picking his nose...and not feeding it him. The current recurring tantrum is that he's upset I sold the safety gate from his bedroom. That we never used.

DD had an enormous meltdown yesterday, and I'm not actually sure what upset her so much.
She has an obsession with plastic water bottles and she likes to put the lids on and take them off.
She'd put the lid on, then scream. Take it off, and scream. Bugger only knows what was going wrong with that.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 25/08/2016 14:03

DD is 19 mos and so far no big ones - believe me, I'm waiting! - but my favourite ever tantrum was me and DH in a Cornish seaside village when a little boy is dragged past by his long-suffering mother - boy howling

BUT I DON'T WANT A CRABBING SET

I would love to know the backstory to that one.

splendide · 25/08/2016 14:03

DS sometimes gets cross when his wee is finished. He loves weeing while standing up in the bath and will often shout at his own penis in frustration when no more is forthcoming.

LifeIsGoodish · 25/08/2016 14:10

Dc3 used to throw a tantrum if I said "No". Perfectly normal. Except that he would also throw a tantrum if I said "Yes". Confused

LadyCassandra · 25/08/2016 14:24

Because I parked in the wrong street (DS1)
Because I told someone he was 3 "I'M THREE AND A HAAAAALF!!!" (dS2)

mrsnec · 25/08/2016 14:55

Mine has a thing for frozen mixed veg. Although she calls them peas. She sorts thrm into the individual varieties and leaves them in little piles all over the house. I got fed up with clearing them up but she still howls for peas in front of the freezer with various recepticals from play kitchen in hand!

officebairn · 25/08/2016 15:02

because I wheeled the trolley past a plant that he wanted to smell... he didn't shut up until the checkouts. sigh

Nousernameforme · 25/08/2016 15:50

we are having a bit of a tantrum at the moment I opened his ice pole and wrapped it in a bit of kitchen roll so it wouldn't be too cold for him to hold
I have just popped him in his chair and the icepole is melting slowly onto the table he will either eat it or not.
If it's not one thing its another today with him

Nousernameforme · 25/08/2016 15:52

forgot to say he is 2 and i am sat next to him though i am not allowed to make direct eye contact

laineyrach · 25/08/2016 15:53

My son cried hysterically when he found out one day he too will have hair downstairs like his daddy. I suppose it is rather upsetting really isn't it

ItchyFoot · 25/08/2016 15:58

Today was because she wanted to get dressed but didn't want to put any clothes on.
