Weirdest reason for a toddler tantrum?

My dd who's almost 2 has started crying and having a melt down every time I throw her dirty nappy in the bin ..I'm at a loss to understand the weird nappy related attachment she seems to have developed over the last few days?
Anyone else's little ones have an odd reason for a tantrum?

Does it count that my 10 month old puppy has completely destroyed my kitchen. Point blank refuses to piss outside & has just come back in the house, ran upstairs, hid under our bed, point blank refused to go back down stairs to the calls from my DH & had to be carried back down stairs by my DH into his create bed in the kitchen 🙈 it's not in my nature to give up on a pet, but thing dog is really testing both our patience!

DS is currently having a massive tantrum because I won't stay still so he can bite me. I suggested kisses or cuddles as an alternative and his counter offer was pinching Hmm I'm just letting him get on with the tantrum now whilst I have another cup of coffee.

Ha ha just seen this... my DS (2) is currently having a tantrum because he has sand on his feet. In a sandpit.

Starting to dread our beach holiday next week....

My DS is 7 and still kicks off if I give him a broken biscuit!

When my dd was about 2 (now 14), she had a huge tantrum because she wanted a willy like her friend! No amount of explaining that she was a girl could console her!

Psychomumsucks · 26/08/2016 17:06

My little girl a few months ago aged two, woke up screaming and hysterically crying, she sounded so heart broken because she just wanted a jam sand which. I got to the point where i said ok and then she wanted a yogurt Hmm so i got her one and then she tried to throw it spilling some on the bed, cue crying because her bed was msssy. It was a long night.

Last night we had a tantrum because she couldn't wear a pyjama top-with an all in one....

SquedgieBeckenheim · 26/08/2016 17:49

DD wanted to go home.
We were home....

buildalegohouse · 26/08/2016 18:23

I wouldn't let her 'eat' her milk with a fork...

Happyhippy45 · 26/08/2016 18:30

Ds age 3 (now 19) wanted me to make a robot (out of cereal box etc.)
Lovingly made a robot to his specification. Then he stood up, arms in the air and want me to put the robot on him. He thought we were making a robot costume. Stupid mummy should have known that. He was inconsolable. I lovingly whilst trying not to end myself laughing made a robot suit for him. By the time I was finished he wasn't interested anymore.
DD age 4 (now 22) had a massive tantrum about me buying big apples. Told me she was done with us and was going to go and live with the next door neighbours. 😂😂😂
Also was told off for buying big mushrooms because they made her sick. They didn't.

BrainWillingBodyNotSoMuch · 26/08/2016 18:37

Massive tantrum as his willy went away. I'd put a nappy on him. Full on 'willy come baaack' sobs despite assurances that it was still there.
The next time I took off his nappy he said 'oh willy' and blew it a kiss.

"When my dd was about 2 (now 14), she had a huge tantrum because she wanted a willy like her friend!"

There may be an untapped market for tiny strap-ons!

Canadianclarelouise · 26/08/2016 19:46

Temper tantrum to be allowed to carry nappies in the supermarket, allowed to carry, temper tantrum resumed when trying to pay for nappies, happy when allowed to carry them again, temper tantrum within one minute of walking out because he didn't want to carry them!

ABitCrapReally · 26/08/2016 20:54

DS cried hysterically because he 'didn't want to go'. My attempts at explaining we weren't going anywhere today just enraged him more.
He often gets very upset that his willy is 'cracked'. - he can see the little capillaries on it.
Biggest ever tantrum was when I wouldn't buy him a Boeing 747.

laurzj82 · 26/08/2016 20:56

Today. Tantrum because I couldn't bring back the plane that just flew above us. Mean mummy!

laurzj82 · 26/08/2016 20:58

Itchy mine does that! "No! Not yours." Grrrrr

MumiTravels · 26/08/2016 21:18

Just to add another one.

MIL said that last week, her and DS were in the shop and he had a lay-down-on-the-floor tantrum because she wouldn't buy the andrex toilet roll.

She has an old house and quilted nice toilet roll blocks the pipes. DS wanted the puppy.

I didn't put my shoes on quick enough to take toddler into garden.

Toddler had a strop, hit the kitchen floor with his head (he was a head banger) onto ceramic tiles and knocked himself out cold.

He never head butted after that though Grin

There is a lovely thread in classics about toddlers' AIBUs - here - it seems apt here and you might like it!

In the swimming pool the other day DD howled like a banshee because I couldn't turn her legs into a fish tail so she could be a mermaid. Always triffic when they kick off in the swimming baths, nice and echo-y so nobody can fail to witness the injustice of having a useless mother who is unable to turn their hard done by child into a mythical creature.

MumiTravels · 26/08/2016 22:12

@homework - you obviously weren't trying hard enough. She was being perfectly reasonably.

"I can't yawn"

Seriously.

JesstheCat82 · 26/08/2016 22:37

DS had a meltdown today because I wouldn't help him put his willy in the dogs water bowl

Grin

My little sod ahem DD (3. And a half) does the full on broken banana stuff too. It's amazing what sets them off. Especially the times when you give in give them what they ask for and they still flip out

BittyWanter · 26/08/2016 22:43

Oh and DS had a meltdown because he wanted to save his chocolate for later......after he ate it Confused

BenLinusatemyhomework · 26/08/2016 23:31

Well of course after he ate it Bitty - Duh!

If you save it before you eat it, then you can't eat it now and have it later, everyone knows that.
