Nappy Brands - A quick question

Just a quick question to get your opinion on nappies - which brand do you prefer & what would you suggest avoiding? Due our first baby in October & am absolutely overwhelmed by the choices of nappy brands - thank you to anyone that takes the time to reply

Hands down - aldi mamia.

Used from birth along with their wipes. In the run up to having both our DDs I bought a pack of newborn/ first size in all the supermarket brands. I rather like sainsburys and asda too but prefer aldi

At least if you buy a variety you can test them out for yourself.

I know parents who's wear by pampers, whereas my two leaked in them overnight. Your baby will be different again xx

I'm with Ravioli - we started with Pampers newborn but moved to Aldi Mamia pretty soon and have stuck with them for both "normal" nappies and swimming ones too.

I use Aldi Mamia on my DT, they are the best, PIL got us quite a selection to try.

We use asda because its nearer than aldi but have also used aldi. Both are great (and much cheaper than pampers!)

With my eldest tesco own brand nappies were brilliant but with my youngest pampers have been the best. My advice is don't bother stocking up on nappies, just buy a few packs of newborn nappies and see how you go.

Aldi's Mamia nappies (and wipes) are by far the best for my two.

Asda Supreme Protection nappies are a close second.

Morrisons are shit.

I'm the I find any brand of nappy that 21mth old DS doesn't pee straight through at night though - I currently sneak in and change him while asleep at 10.30pm and 5am - if I don't, his sheets are pissed through come morning. Any suggestions from parents of heavy night wee-ers would be welcome!

Kiddicare online do great nappies and you buy a months worth at a time and they deliver (often for free!!) they also have a take back service for unused nappies although I haven't had to use it yet.

I definitely wouldn't worry about getting 'brand' nappies, the aldi ones are also good

Just to put out there that my dd was allergic to the asda and tescos own brand ones. If eczema runs in the family might be worth avoiding those.

Don't bulk buy in the beginning. They grow v v fast. Some brands will work better at different sizes. Higher price does not mean better. But a few small size of any brand you like at the beginning and then try others as they grow ( or are on offer!)

AWaspOnAWindowInAHeatwave just buy a couple of washable bamboo liners, the type people use in cloth nappies. Pop one in the normal nappy at bedtime, it'll massively increase the absorbency so you should be able to go all night. You only need a couple so it doesn't cost much, you can find them on ebay and other places.

Aldi Mamia here as well! We buy nappies, wipes and nappy sacks from there.

Hated Asda Little Star nappies.

Boots nappy bags found them far too flimsy and small. We use the ones we bought for cat poo bags

Not a fan of Huggies wipes (far too thick and found they tore every time I tried to get one out of the pack!) or Tesco wipes.

Another vote for Aldi here! Got some as a tester here and switched from the Pampers I was using straight away. Congratulations!

NOT sainsburys. The sizing is much smaller than others I've tried so more leaks up the back. Also the texture is much harsher, they don't feel as nice and they don't flex with the baby's legs as well. Total crap.

I like Pampers, keep meaning to try Asda.

We really like Pampers baby-dry. Tried lots of others and decided it just depends on your baby's bum shape! Apart from Sainsburys own, they had some sort of vitamin liner that gave DD awful nappy rash.
When pregnant I bought lots of different brands of nappies and wipes to try and then bought more of the ones we liked. Except we really liked the Huggies Pure wipes until they changed them and now we use Asda ones, definitely not the fragranced ones though!

I was a big fan of aldi until my ds became active (rolling, crawling etc). I'm now finding that they regularly leak. Has anyone else had this?

Join all the baby clubs, especially those run by nappy companies. You'll get lots of vouchers so can test out your preferred brand quite cheaply.
