Nappy Brands - A quick question

Chocoholicmonster · 14/06/2016 19:55

Just a quick question to get your opinion on nappies - which brand do you prefer & what would you suggest avoiding? Due our first baby in October & am absolutely overwhelmed by the choices of nappy brands - thank you to anyone that takes the time to reply Smile

Yes to trying lots of different ones to get the best fit for you baby. And you might need to keep swapping as they grow

For us we have always come back to pampers - not just for fit - but also for softness of the waistband - others are more plastic-y and rub. I buy when there are offers so they're not really much more expensive

Anaffaquine123 · 14/06/2016 21:42

Aldi nappies and wipes for us, I only discovered them after dd1 was nearly potty trained but have used since tiny on dd2. Great fit and a fraction of the price.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 14/06/2016 21:47

Dd was fine in any brand.

Ds wees a lot more than she ever did, especially at night because he spends the whole night attached to my boob. We can use any brand at all in the day except for Sainsburys, but the only ones which last the night without leaking are pampers baby dry.

Re wipes we used water wipes for the first few weeks, then switched to aldi ones. The tesco ones are ok too. Huggies are terrible.

luckiestgirl · 14/06/2016 21:51

I use pampers at night. And whatever own-brand is on best offer from the supermarkets near us for in the day.
Day nappies you are changing every three hours anyway because of constant pooing so any cheap ones are fine.

Heatherbell1978 · 14/06/2016 21:52

Pampers all the way! I tried numerous brands out when DS was younger and they all leaked apart from Pampers. He's now nearly 2 and gets nappy rash if his nursery puts his bum in anything else. But everyone's different. Some of my NCT mums swear by Asda.

minipie · 14/06/2016 21:53

Pampers baby dry at night

Anything fine in the day

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 14/06/2016 21:53

We used aldi nappies when ds was younger but since he started walking the only ones that don't leak are pampers, they are also the only brand that doesn't leak at night time.

I also liked morrisons own, tesco and wilkinson's own but I hated sainsbury, boots and asda which all leaked.

As others have said different brands work for different children

ComputerBlue · 14/06/2016 21:56

My vote would be Aldi Mamia first, Pampers second Smile

kiki22 · 14/06/2016 21:57

I always used pampers most gave ds a sore bum, aldi were ok but needed to change more often so false economy for me, same with huggies not as long lasting.

Ds is a big drinker he's needed maximum absorbency every pee was like a flood, my niece however doesn't drink much and could go way longer however she had a super sensitive bum and needed really soft nappies. Things like that will change what nappies are best oh and a chunky baby vs a slim baby might need a diff fit.

I was a 'nappy snob' when I was pregnant and would only use pampers nappies and wipes.
As little one got older I used various supermarket brands and by far Mamia from Aldi have been the best - only use them now as well as their wipes!! I wouldn't use any others. Worth the money and brilliant product!

moaninggiraffe · 14/06/2016 22:24

Pampers newborn and then moved on to Aldi mamia newborn - both great. Didn't like the larger size of Aldi Mamia - felt they were quite rough? Kiddicare - just4bums since moving on from newborn. I just order once a month, once we're on the last pack and it's only a day or two for delivery. Never had any problems with leaks and DD is moving a lot more now. Started off with lots of different types of wipes, water wipes made DD's skin quite red so we've been using Aldi Mamia sensitive since with no problems - helps that you can get 4 packs of Aldi wipes for the same price as 1 packet of water wipes! Grin

11 week old is a total boob monster - Pampers Baby-Dry are great. No night leaks since he got to size 3 and we could start using them.

Ffion3107 · 15/06/2016 07:24

Aldi here too. And asda's fragrance free wipes. Had a few explosions using pampers!

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 15/06/2016 07:42

Liked Pampers and Naty for when they're newborn up until 4/6 weeks old. Used Aldi for DS1 which were fab but we now live nowhere near an Aldi. Started using Lidl nappies and they're brilliant - highly recommend. Didn't like Sainsburys nappies at all as they always leaked.

redexpat · 15/06/2016 07:45

I got lots of free samples but found for the newborn stage that pampers and libero (am in Scandinavia) were the best. The lidl ones were crap, as were the other supermarket brand we tried. As soon as they got to size 3 we switched to a Scandinavian supermarket own brand.

redexpat · 15/06/2016 07:46

I think you need to get a pack of each and see what fits your baby.

Bishybishybarnabee · 15/06/2016 07:47

Aldi worked out best for us. But different brands will fit different babies better so worth trying several if you can.

marmitecrumpets · 15/06/2016 07:48

Aldi Mamia.
The best and cheapest I've found. And my DC is 13 months now, they've been great during the crawling/sitting/ walking/ running phases. Definitely recommend

Judgeaway · 15/06/2016 07:56

I found pampers best for ds1 but for ds2 who is 4 and still in nappies I swear by sainsburys little ones.
I think it's such a personal choice and what is best for the child.
It's like sanitary ware not the same product works for every women.

delilabell · 15/06/2016 08:29

We use sainsburys newborn. I think they're nice amd soft compared to aldi ones which feel really rough.

Spingroll16 · 17/06/2016 12:40

Aldi Mamia for us too! never had a problem with those to be fair, or pampers!

NickyEds · 17/06/2016 13:58

Asda little angels for dd and pampers for ds. Ds had had an awful reaction to the aldi ones.
