what age should babies be weighed till?

Just wondered what age other people DC were when they stopping getting weighed on a regular basis.

Debating taking mine

I went every week till she was 3 months, then every 2 weeks till 1 year. Now I go once a month, she's 21 months.

I went once. I wasn't concerned and didn't bother. Obviously I would if I was concerned. Never realised people went so often. Mine are in their 20's and absoluteky fine.

PFB was weighed monthly until he was I think 2 or so. DC2 until she was I think 2. Months. She seems to be growing and thriving very nicely so I can't be bothered.
If you have any concerns then of course go, no matter what age.

I think I went monthly with Dd (pfb). Hardly went with ds. I think you can tell if they are growing and putting on weight as they move up the clothes sizes

I think until he was 6 months and that's when the HV stopped coming. As long as they are doing enough wees and seem happy then I wouldn't bother personally.

DS was weighed 8 times in total, inc his 1 and 2 year checks. Didn't see the point as he was obviously growing

First baby - weekly until baby two comes along
.second baby - at six week check. That's it really!

Thanks guys, felt bad mine hasn't been weighed since 1 year check but it's such a faf getting in and out of the clinic with two I just cba, gonna sack it off in favour of playgroup haha

Dc1 (pfb and tiny) - every week for the first couple of months, then every month till she was one. Then I went back to work and couldn't get to the clinic so she wasn't weighed again till the hv visited us after dc2 was born.

Dc2 was last weighed officially at his six week check, he is six months. I have weighed him at home a few times so I know he is roughly the right weight.

Start of weaning I think. Then 9 month check. Actually I tended to get him weighed periodically as I wanted to keep an eye on what car seat category he was in. But that was only because we had no scales at home. I bought some when he was 2 or 3 I think.

Meh, DS is 12 weeks and I haven't been since health visitor came at 6 weeks. He looks fat and has lots of wet and dirty nappies.

And he is my PFB so Christ knows how lax I'll be with the next one!

I got my DD weighed every month - she was a small birth weight so I think I was more conscious of monitoring it than some. Since she turned 1 I have had her weighed less frequently but aiming for once every 6 months (at least) now.

Only ever at scheduled checks as neither of mine gave me cause for concern over growth.

DC1 was about once a month until 7 months. DC2, 3 times, last was at about 16 weeks old. Might take youngest back in a month or so when weaning is more established, but only if I have any concerns.

I used to take DS every 2 weeks until he was about 12 months old when he decided that he didn't agree with being stripped naked in a room full of strangers and stuck on a scale and would express his displeasure by screaming, biting and making a naked dash for the door

He was on the 96th percentile, and has a good appetite so I'm not too fussed. Hoping he lets the HV weigh him at his 2 year check ( he's 18mo now )

I went monthly with DD1 because she was teensy and we had BF issues initially. So I wanted to make sure she was definitely hitting the curve.

DD2 was a wee stodger and BF beautifully right from the get go. There were never any issues that she might, for a second, be underweight.

What does PFB mean? Fairly new to mums net so abit slow haha

Dd1 was weighed at 8 weeks and 20 weeks. And a couple of weeks ago at 3.7 as the HV was here and had her scales.

Dd2 has so far been weighed by the MW and health visitor, and will be weighed next week at her 8wk jabs appointment. After that, it will be if I get bored or happen to be in the vicinity of some scales!

Pfb = precious first born. The one you do everything properly and by the book for. The ones that come after don't tend to be treated the same and are left to fend for themselves!

First one, a lot.

Second one, not a lot.

They occasionally jump on the scales now at home as they like the light coming one and it works for me as I can monitor how their weight is in relation to their car seats (both rear facing at 4 and 2.5 respectively and will be for a long time yet).

I've taken my pfb once, only other times she's been weighed are when the health visitor has come round or at her jabs. She's 7 months now.
Don't see the point when she has such deliciously chubby thighs and plenty of wet and dirty nappies.

I weighed mine out of boredom regularly until he was about 7 months, so maybe once or twice a month.

Then I went back to work full time... Now he only gets checked when the health visitor feels like visiting!

Every 2 weeks until DD was about 9 months and I went back to work as that was my Wednesday 'thing to do' and the HV encouraged the mums to get together in the community centre cafe for a chat and coffee afterwards.
Next time was 12 months for her Birthday weight, then 16 months as I wanted to check her weight for her car seat.
HV said it's not required from 12 months as long as you notice them moving up clothes sizes etc, but they enjoy seeing how the babies are growing up!
