Just wondering when people first left baby in the care of anyone other than baby's dad?

iWeb I went back to work so at 11 months.

Pinkheart5915 · 13/03/2016 18:55

Our ds was left with his grandparents for 6 hours when he was 10 weeks, I expressed milk and he had his comfy blanket. He was totally fine.

AlleyCatandRastaMouse · 13/03/2016 18:56

First was 6 months left with grandparents while we went to a wedding, second was 4 months, stayed with Dad, 3rd was 10months stayed with minder overnight. It is a very personal thing though so you will not get any convergence of answers.

When he was 2. To be fair no grandparents live nearby otherwise it would prob have been sooner.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 13/03/2016 18:57

5 months. She went into nursery full time as it was the start of the university term.

First time left overnight was two weeks ago, she's almost two (had to go away for a week for work) but she was with DP.

AlleyCatandRastaMouse · 13/03/2016 18:58

Oops I did not realise you meant daytime. I went back to work on all 3 circa 6ish months.

Bluelilies · 13/03/2016 18:58

About 6 weeks, but only for an hour or two between feeds whilst we went to the pub over the road.

Overnight it would have been aged about 2 years with grandparents

sepa · 13/03/2016 18:59

Left Baby at 1 week old to go to Drs appointment for 1.5hrs. Not sure that really counts!

SerenityReynolds · 13/03/2016 18:59

DD1 was left for about 6 hours at 4 months. DD2 for about 3 hours at 2 months. Both were mix fed and I left formula and expressed milk. Both were absolutely fine - DD2 fell asleep in the buggy on the way to leave her with my parents, and woke up 10 minutes before we arrived back!

magpie17 · 13/03/2016 19:00

At 2 weeks I left him for an hour with his auntie while I had to take my cats to the vets. Overnight it was at about 5 months I think but I wasn't breastfeeding.

SerenityReynolds · 13/03/2016 19:01

Should say for an overnight stay, DD1 was 2.5, but nothing had come up before that, that really justified us leaving her.

DartmoorDoughnut · 13/03/2016 19:07

Will be this weekend coming, we're going out to lunch and he's spending a few hours with the ILs (at ours bless them!) he's just turned 18 months.

5minutestobed · 13/03/2016 19:08

During the day about 6 months when we went to the cinema for a few hours. Has never been away from parents overnight yet and he is 3 in a few weeks. No family nearby though so no one to take him anyway!

xxjessxx · 13/03/2016 19:09

Thanks everyone - I know it's a really personal thing but I just had a sudden "am I normal" feeling earlier today I'm sure we've all been there!

We first left ds with his grandparents when he was six weeks old while we went out on New Year's Eve. it was brilliant Grin he is ff so no issues with feeding in my absence. I think there's not right or wrong age, it's just when you feel comfortable and fancy a little break.

Blondiewoman007 · 13/03/2016 19:13

3 weeks- we went out for a meal and left expressed milk for grandparents to give in a bottle. No problems at all.
First overnight stay at grannie's when DS was around 5 months. Bliss!

KnitFastDieWarm · 13/03/2016 19:13

meant to say - we were only away for a few hours. We've not left him overnight yet.

lenibose · 13/03/2016 19:13

With a visiting grandparent at 20 days (I needed to pop to the GP surgery down the road and didn't want to drag him). MIL persuaded me to go have a cup of tea in peace as well. But all 4 grandparents live abroad (MIL visiting) so this is rare.

I went back to work at 7 months.

Left overnight with Dad at 11 months when I went for a conference. Has never been left overnight with anyone else. (No one to leave him with).

WhoisLucasHood · 13/03/2016 19:16

I left PFB at 5 days to go out on my works Xmas Do.

Lightbulbon · 13/03/2016 19:20

Daytime: dc1 for a few mins while going to local shop at under a week

1 day a week from 6 weeks

Dc1 overnight 3 months

Dc2 can't remember but started childminder 2 days at 4 months, overnight prob 6-8 months

Dc3 1/2 days a week from 5 weeks, overnight 5 months

All BF and needed to express milk in advance.

Arpege · 13/03/2016 19:25

With a babysitter for a night out - 4 weeks

With daytime childcare to go back to work - 7 months

Overnight at 2 - stayed over at her dads sometimes.

Frazzled2207 · 13/03/2016 19:35

Baby is 9m and will be left with my mother all day next week while i have a work kit day. Previously he has been left with her for two afternoons.

AtSea1979 · 13/03/2016 19:36

From 4 weeks DD went to nursery for 2 full days

Shesinfashion · 13/03/2016 20:48

After 7 months. Only cos she would only BF and refused EBM. I had her attached to me constantly. As soon as she would take a bottle I handed her over to the first person who offered to have her.

Nonotmenori · 13/03/2016 21:00

Left DS when he was 10 days old with my parents who we lived with for about 4-5 hours. Looking back seems crazy, but then I returned to work full time when he was 3 months.
