Just wondering when people first left baby in the care of anyone other than baby's dad?

Overnight from 6 weeks and for one weekend every six weeks ever since, with her GPs and aunts. She is now 9 years old and loves those weekends away.

15 months when I went back to work.

For longer than a few hours, when she was about 8 months and no longer bfeeding constantly. It probably would have been earlier but we have no family who live near us. We are leaving her overnight for the first time over Easter with my parents, she is 16 months.

We've had 2 evenings out, once when DD was 3 months and once when she was 4 months, and she was at her Grandma's for the evening but we picked her up in our way home. She's 7 months now and we'd only really be happy leaving her with her Grandma or Aunty but they both live in a different city so its not very convenient.

StubbleTurnips · 14/03/2016 20:05

In the day often as she's at nursery, she's 3 and not been left overnight.

At 7 weeks I left her with my mum for 3hrs to go to my best friends 30th. She took a bottle of ebm without fuss and had a lovely time. First overnight will be at 11 months, my sister is having her whilst we are at a wedding. Hoping the night feeds have dropped right off by then!

Dh and I went out for dinner when dd was about 2 weeks old Blush. We left her with my folks, and were away about 2.5 hours. She slept the whole time, we sat and ate and talked about her the whole time, the waiter gave us a balloon to bring home for her.

I think the next time after that was about 5 months old.

Dc2 (ds) was maybe three months old? Purely circumstances.

Not until 3 years. DS is 4 and has been left overnight once but he hated it. He started preschool at just 4 but overnights are too much still. DD loved overnights with grandparents from 3 onwards.

Ahhh today was the first time we left little one with my sister- she's 6 months. 'Twas our anniversary and we went to a spa for a couple of hours. My sister said she was happy until about 40 mins after we left and started looking around for us, but was easily distracted and then had a nap. I felt comfortable and didn't obsess (too much).

Katarzyna79 · 15/03/2016 20:26

apart from when I went into labour (cousins) or the odd driving lesson (husband) I've left them with no one, there's no one that I can rely on.

8 weeks to go to the cinema for the afternoon on our wedding anniversary. My boobs leaked the whole time!

tabulahrasa · 15/03/2016 20:32

DS was I think about 9 or 10 days and I left him for a couple of hours with my sister, DD was maybe a week older? Again with my sister.
