Following on from Coddys boiled egg comment!

According to my Mum I had sugered water as a new born, had a crushed rusk in my bottle from 4 weeks, was put to sleep on my tummy and was potty trained by 12 months and walking at 9 months.

I ate steak and chips ( not with a fork as BIL likes to tease) before 9 months.

Oh and I cralwed at 5 moths. NOW I used to poopoo this until ds3 did it too!

yeah right - but we lived in Singapore and MUm had an amah for me so dont think she saw me much

Dumped me outside in my pram for an hour regardless of weather for fresh air, shes never mentioned if I was awake or asleep, happy or crying, but everyday thats what she did. Now after having 2 dds myself I know each day varies and they are not doing the same thing at the same time everyday so I have wondered if I was left screaming till my hour was up!

I was toliet trained by 9 months and dry through the night by 18months drummed into me on a weekly basis since DD 5 was born - has now reached fever pitch since DS (newly 4) is still wearing a nappy at night!

(oh how I piss my self laughing at this impossible achievement)!!

They left babies in prams outside of shops aswell didn't they? As those big huge prams wouldn't fit through most door ways.

My mum left my brother outside the post office and forgot about him when he was tiny, she got back to her mums house and her mum was like wheres the baby...her being a new mum and all that didnt know what she was talking about until the new Granny started running up the street to see where her grandson was!

I had champagne at my christening (aged 6 months), dripped from my mum's finger. She said it shut me up beautifully as I'd been screaming since the holy water touched my head.

I was left outside under trees too, whatever the weather.

Plus left outside shops, put in carry cot on back seat of car (in fact I still remember the day when my mum braked sharpley and my baby brother rolled out and under the front seats ROFL!)

Put to sleep on tummy. Fed on diluted Carnation milk.

Amazing I am alive really!

my mum was hippy type dangling several babes at her breast til I die mode, in my kaftan eating my homemade muesli wearing knitted sandals kinda thing...
We never saw meat until we were about 7! And all veges came from our field as did our fruits.
Saying that she smoked 40 a day pregnant or not...
I know I talked early, I also know I potty trained my brother when I was 4 and he was 3 on the ship from UK to NZ in 1974.

CD - was amazed to hear that you can make proper milk out of Carnation (evaporated) milk - just add water - DP thinks I am a complete sap for not knowing that but thought was a very handy thing to know just in case you run out of milk!!

Coddy, my friend's ds (aged 2 now) was eating steak and chips by 9 months! He really liked food, he had lots of teeth early, and he was desparate for what his parents ate, so they gave it to him. At the time my dd was refusing apple puree

I think dd was born out of her time. She's just parked her baby doll outside in its pram, under the trees, and then come inside and told me thats its cold, and asked me to shut the patio door.

Soapbox, sorry to add cred to your ma but my DD was dry at night at 18 months! Just tell her it takes boys longer

Can't think of anything mum didn't that was particularly out of sync with the time (e.g. cow's milk at 6 months), so carrycot in the back of the car, left outside for hours....

Wonder what our kids will shake their heads about?

Coddy we took ds on holiday to Spain at 9 months and he discovered tapas in a big way. Olives, chorizo, artichoke, calamari, you name it we squidged it up a bit for him, but there was no holding him back.

First food to introduce egg and orange juice(Wonderful if you want to get an allergy)

Dear MIL is always saying that she can not understand why women now say that is difficult to work and take care of the house with an infant. She was very capable of doing everything by leaving my now dh in his play pen all the morning and nothing happened... curiously she is always saying that DH didn't walk until past his 18m because he was fat, I'm very tempted to ask if long hours at the play pen are not to blame...

According to MIL babies need to be potty trained at one, but she mentions of one nephew who was potty trained at 5m, how did he get to the toilet at that age I will never know...

Mine have all had cows milk and food too early and are totally free of allergoes , so balls.

YEs ds3 loves all sorts of odd food too!

Yep, I too was bored of formula by 9 months and as for weaning, well I held out until 10 weeks. DD has a weird palate too, she was eating squid dipped in encona for supper last night. Ieuch!
