How often do you all bath your baby/toddler and why?

Every 2-4 days because that's all they need.

keely79 · 07/01/2016 17:15

Toddler upwards - every night - good way of starting bedtime routine and winding them down for the day.

Topsyloulou · 07/01/2016 17:19

DS (1.2) has a shower every other night. He hates the bath & shower is much quicker. We do every other night so it's not always part of his bedtime routine so if we're staying somewhere else or he's staying with Granny he's not expecting it.

DS is 18 months and we've done a bath every night from quite early on, to get him into a routine more than anything.

Now it's a nessecity as he's always filthy, covered in food or mud and he gets a bit sweaty at nap times recently.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 17:29

Topsyloulou how do you shower LO? We are going on holiday this year and might need to know the tricks of the trade here!

We bath every night just as part of a routine. Wash hair twice a week.

Pico2 · 07/01/2016 17:31

About twice a week for DD2 (11 months). We do the minimum as DH has eczema and stripping the natural oils from skin when young might be implicated in eczema. We also don't use any products in her bath.

With DD1 we didn't do any more at that age, but it crept up and has to be every day now she is in charge of wiping herself. We only started using shampoos on her at 2.

Footofthestairs · 07/01/2016 17:32

Dc1 was bathed every night from a couple of months old, part of the bedtime routine and once she was sleeping through we didn't dare change anything in case she stopped sleeping so well! Dc2 also daily but was a rubbish sleeper, however is a very sweaty boy at night so needs a bath often. Now they are older it's nightly but sometimes gets skipped if we are doing other things, like Brownies, clubs, visiting people, out for dinner etc. Luckily neither have had eczema so not had to factor that in. Hair wash once a week, as too much drama from DD for anymore frequently!!

AnnaMarlowe · 07/01/2016 17:35

Every night when they were babies because they loved it.

Every night when they were toddlers because they loved it and were filthy

They have daily showers more normally now they they are 8yo but still love a bath together and ask for one a couple of times a week.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 07/01/2016 18:22

I do it most nights to keep a consistent bedtime routine. DS is almost 5 months now.

ElderlyKoreanLady · 07/01/2016 18:29

When she's beyond-wet-wipe dirty. It probably works out every 3-5 days. She has a quick flannel wash each evening too.

I have multiple allergies and am a firm believer that being too clean can create long term health issues.

villainousbroodmare · 07/01/2016 18:35

Every day (DS 5.5 months). Because:
he loves it
it's very hot here
he's starting on solids now so gets in a mess

I just use cream cleanser on his face and plain water.

GoldPlatedBacon · 07/01/2016 19:12

Dd is 6 months. We bath her every 2/3 days. I'm in the too much washing isn't good for a baby brigade although I do sometimes bath her on a non-bath night because she loves baths so it's a good thing to do when she's very grizzly as it gives me a happy baby for 30 mins

MrsMum2011 · 08/01/2016 17:48

After about a month we bath every night starting about 9 at night before his long sleep and gradually became earlier, until its now 6pm every night.
That works for us, I like routine and he thrives of it, whether this will stay the same week baby 2 comes....

Kraggle · 08/01/2016 17:50

Every night she is in the bath but she doesn't get scrubbed every night. Most times she just gets swilled with water.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 08/01/2016 17:51

Every day.

Because they are filthy buggers Grin

5minutestobed · 08/01/2016 17:57

Once or twice a week here, he hates the bath and hates getting his hair washed even more. He's 2.10.

1lov3comps · 08/01/2016 20:24

Once a week unless particularly dirty, we were bathed once a week as kids so that seems normal to me. DD hated it as a baby so that probably added to the habit as well.

greenlizard · 09/01/2016 10:16

Every night for my DS at 10 months - not only because he loves it and is part of his night time routine but also because he is always so grubby! I have to wash his hair every day too as it is always harbouring bits of food/dribble etc.

If we are away and no bath or we have run out of time he comes in the shower with me or his Dad.

Pico2 · 09/01/2016 11:55

The amount of hair a baby has must make a massive difference. Our 11 month old hasn't got a lot of hair, but I know babies born with more hair than she has. You can just wipe stuff out of our DD's hair in the bath, others need a proper shampooing.

mrsmugoo · 09/01/2016 11:57

We do every night because he enjoys it and it's part of his bedtime routine but no bubbles or soaps, just plain water.

TheCatsMeow · 09/01/2016 11:59

Twice a week. Because he likes it but only for 5 minutes and hates having his hair washed.

bonzo77 · 09/01/2016 12:02

From around 6 weeks pretty much every day. Because they like it. Mine are 5.5, 3 and 4 months. Hair washing once a week or more if required. No products in bath water. Will miss a night if short on time or something.

ICanSeeForMiles · 09/01/2016 12:07

On average 6 nights out of 7. Inevitably because there's that one night that we're out later than usual, got stuff on or time just runs away from us. Dc are 7 & 4 and most of the time have showers, maybe once a week share a bath.
Saying that, I'm aware I'm a bit of a clean freak. I can't sleep if I haven't showered, washed my hair and shaved my legs that day.
But they do seem to enjoy their showers most of the time. 'Can I have another minute' is dc2's favourite saying.

Bellejournee · 09/01/2016 12:09

Daily, it's part of our bedtime routine. On the very rare occasion we have arrived home late and the children too tired to bath, we've given them a quick wash and put them straight to bed, but that is very rare.

ILoveMyMonkey · 09/01/2016 12:11

3 year old has a bath probably once every 2 weeks maybe every week if lucky but showers are every other night sometimes more frequently (def showered on the 2 days he goes to pre-school). Baths take too long.
