Told DS masturbation isn't normal

It's up there with the worst things you can say isn't it Sad
DS is 10, my XH had 'the talk' with him against my wishes as I thought he was still too young. Since then DS has changed, takes ages to get dressed, have a shower etc.
Two weeks ago I caught him playing with himself, I sneaked back out unseen but today I lost my patience and snapped. I burst in to his room and said "for goodness sake DS just get dressed and stop playing with yourself, it's not normal, you are 10 years old, go play with a football not your willy".
I told him I was sorry and tired but haven't broached the subject. Felt awful all day about it but I'm just really not prepared at all for how much it has thrown me and how unsettled I feel when he's taking too long in the bathroom.
Tell me I'm not the only one to find this difficult and how should I handle it better when I need to get out the door.

Blimey, I don't know what to say to the op!
Eva, I have 3 sons and a daughter. My older 2 boys are 12&10. Masturbation came up when they were 9&7 and I just told them it was something people did as they got older as soon as it felt nice to do so. I told them there was nothing wrong with it but that until they were much older and in a happy relationship, it was a private thing that should only take place when they're alone in their bedrooms. I will tell my daughter exactly the same as I'm sure she will learn to know and love her own body much more if she enjoys regular masturbation. It's their first sexual experience and they need it to start to understand their own sexuality and what they want.
But your DP waking you up by wanking is most definitely annoying. Ask him to quieten down or wait until he gets in the shower but please don't let your dd think it's wrong.
