I don't care what my dd eats at other's houses, as long as she's fed.
I feel sad when I see very overweight children though who are obviously being fed crap all the time at home

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 12:55

ggd - omg!

you get so annoyed dont you

i spent ages the other week making tortillas and a salad and chicken bits to make their own wraps

dd's friend starting crying "i dont know what that is, mummy, what is that? i dont like it"

she would touch the chicken or the salad or even the tortilla

she ended up having toast and jam

Nailpolish - would love your soup recipe!! Pretty please!!

FIMBO · 16/11/2006 12:59

I don't care what other peoples kids eat.

My ds is a fussy bugger and would not eat pizza homemade or otherwise.

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 16/11/2006 13:01

my dd hates pizza - it's a real PITA

iota · 16/11/2006 13:03

ds1 onlt eats cheese and tomaot pizza

ds2 - usually a great eater, won't eat cheese, so pizza gets the thumbs down from him unless it is made without cheese

SneakyMouse · 16/11/2006 13:03

Oh, up yourself with a big broom, Fish - you're a right misery these days! You're just being morose and shit-stirry because you're not going to the meet-up

Lolabelle · 16/11/2006 13:09

MIne doesn't like pizza sadly as otherwise i'd try to smuggle some veg on it. I don't care what any parent feeds their kids really as long as its not borderline child abuse! Just wish mine would eat anything with a vegatable in it but she has a vegetable radar and runs a mile quite literally.

As for soup she'd steer clear of it and be deeply suspicious despite myself eating it in front of her regularly - guess i'd be pleased if she ate anything round her friends house to be honest!

wannaBe1974 · 16/11/2006 13:23

I don't care. And just because someone gives nuggets and chips to a visiting child doesn't mean that's what their kids live on. They might simply give that as they know there is more chance of the child eating it.

And tbh if I went to someone's house with my ds and they were serving up plates of salad for dinner, I would think they were pretentious and that they were trying to prove the point that their kids eat better than mine. Because most children of my ds age would not tuck into a healthy plate of salad, but that doesn't mean they don't eat veg.

There can be middle ground IMO. Healthy diet with fruit/vegetables is essential, but even the chicken nugget and chips have their place.

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 13:25

i disagree wannabe

there is no place for chips and nuggets

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 13:26

and i am anything but pretentious

tortoiseshell · 16/11/2006 13:26

other people's kids are annoying - too right.

iota · 16/11/2006 13:28

There is a place for nuggetts and chips - on my kids plates - am just off to M&S to buy some chicken goujons ( and yes I do make my own as well, sometimes)

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 13:29

i make my own too - jeanette orreys recipe is really good

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 16/11/2006 13:30

my dd will not touch salad... but will eat nearly every fruit and veg that I could possible think of with the exception of tomatoes.. she just doesn't like the taste of leaves (I can kind of see her logic when looking at it from a 4yo point of view.. even I don't like the taste of leaves that much)

foxinsocks · 16/11/2006 13:30

no I don't care

although did get stuck out (on M-way in horrendous traffic) with ds and one of his mates and they were hungry so I pulled into the services and they had a McDonalds. Don't think the child had had one before so I spent the next half an hour in traffic thinking his parents might be like one of the lot on here and be horrified that I had dared let McDs food pass his lips.

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 16/11/2006 13:32

my dd had a friend round last weekend - I cooked spag bol (no jar).. is that assseptable?

FrannyandZooey · 16/11/2006 13:33

"if I went to someone's house with my ds and they were serving up plates of salad for dinner, I would think they were pretentious "

so it's ok for you to judge what they are eating, but not vice versa?
