Toddler descriptions

DD is 20 months old. I'm finding her descriptions of things she doesn't recognise or have words for both adorable and very accurate. Highlights include the grippy spots on the bottom of the feet on her sleep suits being 'sparkly bubbles' and the piece of mustardy sandwich she stole from me tasting 'spiky'.

My absolute favourite though, came when we were out for a walk a couple of weeks ago and saw black lambs prancing around a field. I asked her is she knew what they were, she stared for a moment and happily announced they were dancing cats. Grin

What have your toddlers come out with?

DD1 (3.6) called her ballet leotard her 'baleird' and then her 'ctard' up until recently.

Ah fluff - that was pronounced "fluck" for a while here. Caused some issues...

We were just singing "row row rolly boat"

DD got told off after she decided to copy mummy's nails and put on 'finger polish'

Unfortunatly given that her nails were really small it WAS mostly on her fingers. Beautiful sky blue it was too Grin

Dd used to sing Oranges and Lemons and 'the bells of Stepney' were 'all the bells except me'.

Dd called bras "booby cappers".

She also had her own swear word. When she got cranky the biggest worst word she could say (with face screwed up, fists clenched), "you are a bombi"

Bombi is a pretty good swear word :)

DS was getting really cross this morning at breakfast - he'd had some Cheerios but then kept saying 'I want pink!' Took quite some time to figure out he wanted Weetabix fruit and nut Minis, which come in a pink box...

HippyChickMama · 22/05/2015 14:47

I've remembered some more from when DS was younger
Kittens were cat puppies
A sister was a brother that's a girl
He said 'b' instead of 'v' so Venus in Fireman Sam became Benus (unfortunately sounds a lot like Penis!)
He didn't want to play in the snow because it was 'too big'
If he wanted me to stay with him while he went to sleep he used to say 'keep with me'
He couldn't understand the concept of 'no thank you' so he used to say 'no please'
We also had eyebrowns and old macdonald's

We have "Coffee tea", "Cup of tea" and "Chocolate tea" from 3yo DS depending on what hot drinks are being prepared.

We recently moved house and our new house has a name rather than number. Without giving too much away (it begins with C and has a Scottish "ch" in the middle) he thinks the new house is called "Clapping"

He used to refer to "Roary Car" a lot but to be fair Roary The Racing Car is a bit of a mouthful.

Oh! And one that my cousin did as a child that DS has recently starting doing after a spate of birthdays including my 30th. "What number are you?/What's your number?" Instead of "How old are you?/What age are you?"

HildaOgdensCoffeeTable · 22/05/2015 15:37

DD1 used to call helicopters "tatat"s

slightlyeggstained · 23/05/2015 03:52

Helicopters are "HEYCOCKAAA!" to DS. Usually shouted at high volume.

Planes are also sometimes heycockas.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 23/05/2015 04:31

DS (3) was wearing a t-shirt with an owl on the front.
Me: "Are you a twit or a twoo today?"
DS: "No, I'm twee"

When asked the same question on another day his response was, "No, I'm a twat"
