Where do you put your baby when you go round the supermarket?

In the trolley?

keepitgoing · 09/09/2014 07:17

in a sling

KraggleLego · 09/09/2014 07:18

I usually keep mine in the car seat and then use the trolley with the car seat attachment

Mine went in my sling as he'd scream if I put him in the trolley.

purplemurple1 · 09/09/2014 07:28

In the trolly, when he was very little in one with the baby seat, then at 5 months or so in a normal seat as he was sitting up by then.

BikeRunSki · 09/09/2014 09:57

This is why they invented online deliveries!

For smaller shopping, I hang the basket over the buggy handle.

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 09/09/2014 11:20

When we had dd1 we used to put her car seat on the special car seat trolly (advice- if you 5'7ish or below this is a non starter, I couldn't see over the top of the car seat and giant 6'4 dh had to step in!)
When she was a bit older laid her in the lay down seat thingy, and now she just sits in the seat, but tbh.. We do online shopping, it's a revelation, and I'm that person rummaging for the freshest bananas in a supermarket and they have impressed me.. Give it a go, the first time takes forever but once you have your favourites etc set up it's a doddle :)

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 09/09/2014 11:21

Oh and for little top up shops I use the buggy and just put the shopping in the buggy basket at the bottom..

SweetPeaPods · 09/09/2014 11:25

I do similar to already mentioned.
When ds was newborn I used sling as I couldn't see over the trolley with the bit for car seats.
He now goes in the normal trolley seat.
If I just need 1 or 2 bits I put him in pram and use the basket underneath. Also stops me buying too much!
I try to do an online shop every couple of weeks.

TheGirlAtTheRockShow · 09/09/2014 13:29

I put DD in the seat attached to the trolley (after lining it with a giant muslin)

AdorableAbbie · 09/09/2014 14:27

When my DD was still a baby I put her on a baby carrier so I can move easily and I can handle to push the cart.

DIYandEatCake · 09/09/2014 16:48

Wherever works, depending on age/mood of baby! When ds was newborn - 6 weeks ish he was always in the sling, after that sometimes in the laid-back seat in the trolley and sometimes in the sling, from about 5 months he's been in the sitting-up seat - but I still take a sling too just in case he gets grumpy/tired. I'm a sad person who actually enjoys supermarket shopping - I have a 9mo and a 3yo so it can have it's moments but they both seem to enjoy it as long as we're not in a rush, and we get a drink & snack in the cafe afterwards. When dd (3) was tiny she loved being pushed round the supermarket in the trolley, it was about the only place she wouldn't cry (and she cried a LOT!)

halfdrunkcoffee · 09/09/2014 19:56

Either in the trolley or the sling, or sometimes if we're just picking up a few things from the Coop I just use a basket and balance it on the pushchair. We get an online shop once a week however, so don't usually do a big supermarket shop.

FoxSticks · 09/09/2014 19:59

I'm short so if I didn't have a lot to get I'd put the carseat straight into one of the little trolleys then put my shopping around the carseat.

thatsn0tmyname · 09/09/2014 20:02

From 5 months I'd sit them in the seat of a standard trolley with a coat stuffed round for support or go alone on Friday night. Now I online shop

smokeandfluff · 09/09/2014 20:20

Sling

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 09/09/2014 20:22

Don't do it! Get a big online delivery, then top up fresh fruit and meat on your local high st.

I gave up going to big supermarkets soon after the arrival of ds1!

mrsmugoo · 09/09/2014 20:55

Next to me on the sofa while I do my order on the iPad!

TheJourney22 · 09/09/2014 21:30

Sling

blondebaby111 · 09/09/2014 23:07

At home while dh does it Shock or vice versa. My dd hates being in the trolley, hates being in the buggy round the supermarket but absolutely loves to be carried round so it's a no go xx

Bolshybookworm · 09/09/2014 23:13

Both my babies liked/like going round the supermarket (either in their car seat or the baby seat in the trolley), so I find it a relaxing way to break up the day. An added bonus was when (as newborns) they fell asleep and I could nip to the cafe for a quick cuppa (with trolley or car seat in tow, obviously).

slightlyinsane · 10/09/2014 08:51

The more kids I've had the less I do. Online for majority and as dh "stacks beans for a living". His way of describing his job, he does top up shopping. We do as a family go to supermarkets as they need to have experience of doing it but with the twins I have to use the pushchair 9 times out of 10 as they don't have enough twin trolleys and other people use them (for their bags!!!!) nstead of a single. Angry

IShallCallYouSquishy · 10/09/2014 08:57

When teeny tiny in the sling. Now in car seat on those special trollies if a proper shop. If a little top up it's usually toddler in pushchair (to prevent havoc!) and DS in sling. It's walking distance so I tend to do lots of little shops.

Did have my first big online shop delivered yesterday though and it's changed my life already! Would definitely recommend it. I'll just top up with fruit/veg/milk etc from Aldi every few days using pushchair and sling.

neversleepagain · 10/09/2014 09:55

I did my first small shopping trip with my twins when they were 6 weeks old. I would put them in the trolley with double baby seats covered in a muslin. They now sit in the twin trolley seats.

idontlikealdi · 10/09/2014 13:15

On line:)
