She has one before bed and first thing. Sippy cup the rest of the time. 14 months

I stopped at 1 year, switched to sippy cups and now on to real cups at 22 months.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2014 16:33

A year old with both.

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 20/06/2014 16:37

Just after she turned 2 here. We dropped the morning bottle at 1 but she refused to drink milk from a sippy cup until she was two and I wanted her to keep having bedtime milk. So she still had a bedtime bottle until she was happy with a cup.

Had a bottle up until about 2yo, just one if he was distressed, sick, afraid of a storm etc, really for comfort.

He has a sippy cup (he's 2.6). He can drink out of an open cup/beaker etc, but has a tendency to prefer flinging it about and giggling at the mess Hmm so we don't fill it very much.

We moved onto sippy cups at 1yo, he didn't mind the transition, but the night milk was by bottle.

My eldest from one but my youngest was a Bottle refuser here so breast fed for 18 months but it was a real pain in the bum. Tried everything. Managed to get him to take plain water drinks from sippy cup aged 6 months but not milk eventually he would at about 14 months for cows milk in a cup.....whilst we slowly stopped bf

I imagine bf and bottle fed babies still need that suck until 18 months probably (well in my 3 experience)

jenniuol · 20/06/2014 17:58

My 16 month old still has a bottle of formula ( I know, I know) morning and night. Not interested in cows milk, although I have started gradually mixing some in to his bottle. Tbh I'm not bothered by the bottles, I'd rather ditch the formula. He drinks water out a cup or a beaker type if we're out the rest of the time. I'm hoping he'll just drop the bottle in his own time.

We had bottles for DTs from 12 until 18 months, when we went on holiday and I 'forgot' the bottles and we moved to cow sippy cups. Miraculously the bottle fairy had been whilst we were away and removed all bottles at home.....

TheScottishPlay · 20/06/2014 18:12

A year old.

neversleepagain · 20/06/2014 21:21

16 months for my DTs. The now have milk and water from a Oxo Tot straw cup.

whitepuddingsupper · 21/06/2014 00:06

We were still doing the bedtime one at 3 Blush.

BackforGood · 21/06/2014 00:53

A year old - with all 3 of mine

Janesville · 21/06/2014 08:55

2.3 yr old still has one 2-3 times a day. Don't see harm in it myself.

ShelaghTurner · 21/06/2014 08:59

DD1 had beakers which were essentially bottles until she was 3.5 Hmm. DD1 is now 2.5 and has non bottley (!) beakers and lidded cups, both stopped the actual bottles at about 18 months.

ShelaghTurner · 21/06/2014 09:00

DD2 is now 2.5 ffs.

RabbitSaysWoof · 21/06/2014 09:05

2.2 still has bottle of soya milk before bed.
No plans to stop, I dont see the harm hes not a babyish kid, drinks water from a glass all day and doesn't carry comforters, just has a familiar milk bottle as part of hes after bath wind down.

fledermaus · 21/06/2014 09:08

About 8 months, but he was mostly breastfed until a year.

Fuzzymum1 · 21/06/2014 09:31

I can't remember with DS1 but soon after a year. DS2 was about 10 months. I started giving him a sippy cup and he soon realised the milk came out much quicker and refused bottles from then on.

DS3 was about 16 months I think. That was when I stopped pumping and I think the two coincided.

slightlyconfused85 · 21/06/2014 13:22

DD was a few weeks younger than 1 when she was happy to have her milk from a beaker. My DSis children had them much longer before bed though, up until about 2.5

GingerDoodle · 21/06/2014 13:38

The day DD turned 1.

Bunbaker · 21/06/2014 13:40

A year. My sister offered me advice that the longer you leave it the harder it is. So DD went cold turkey at a year, and it wasn't a problem at all.

Janesville · 21/06/2014 15:22

My dd stopped about 3.5 and had no issues. There isn't really a difference between a bottle and a beaker as both are less messy that a cup. A bottle is just comforting and once they are older, they don't need that comfort.

5madthings · 21/06/2014 15:25

My first three never had them, all bfed, two of them uuntil almost four years old.

Ds4 had a bottle before bed until 3.5 yrs.

Dd is 3.5 yrs and has four ounces in a bottle before bed, she will give it up when she is ready to do so.

5madthings · 21/06/2014 15:25

They all drank out of cups the rest of the time.

ScarlettlovesRhett · 21/06/2014 15:33

6 months we moved to just one bottle a day at bedtime, then at 12 months we stopped that one too.
(Same with both boys).

deepbluetr · 21/06/2014 15:34

Never used a bottle.
