When do you shower?!

Ds is 11m and into everything. I used to find everyday things like having a shower so much easier as he would sit in his bouncy chair in the bathroom and watch me. He's now outgrown it. When do you shower or what do you do with child? He will just cry if I put him in cot to play. Friend suggested at nap time , but sometimes I need to be out the door before then and like him to have the nap in the car.

Long time ago but I would put DS in his cot with a few toys. I would have a 5 minute shower. Sometimes he wouldn't be thrilled about it but he was safe and I got my shower.

I either get up before she does, leave her with DH, or most often I put her on the floor of the shower with me. I have a non-slip mat, some bath toys and it does mean a luke warm shower. But no screaming! And she now doesn't mind water on her head

I shower before bed. Or during her lunchtime nap.

Run baby's bath. Bath baby. Remove baby to towel. Remove toys from bath and open hot tap to full. Dry baby, dress baby, put baby to bed, return to bathroom to shut off hot water. Go downstairs to cook and eat dinner, return approximately 1.5hours later to bath at perfect temperature for a long leisurely soak with a book.

As long as the baby doesn't wake up. And it was a bit risky when he was still breastfeeding to sleep. But works like a charm now it's just a quick cuddle and story then leave him to it!

I take DS in shower with me he sits at the other side with some toys then I leave him in to play with I brush teeth and fix my make up (in bathroom) then take him out when I need to do my hair. Everyones happy that way

When my DD was this age (now 2.3 and we live in a nice, safe flat so happier to let her potter), I would bring her into bathroom, shut and lock door and make sure she had a little activity to do or some books to look at. Wasn't always easy and definitely wasn't ever able to linger, but it meant I got clean.

Saved the more luxuriant washes for when DH was about.

When I go back to work I'll really need to have a shower in the morning. Hopefully I can time it before he wakes up but not always possible. Can't really time it around DH as he works shifts.
Just brought him in bathroom with me, with toys & books, and he screamed. Maybe he'll just have to adjust?

He will be fine in the cot. No need for him to be in bathroom with you at all.

Another vote for leaving him in cot. He is perfectly safe there, if he does cry it will only be for the 5 minutes it takes you to shower max.

Depends in the layout of your house. My entire flat is baby safe unintentionally, I have no hints or tips so I just let my dd roam about. But she will normally stand in the bathroom doorway and play peekabo with me round the shower curtain..

I shower before bed, in no great rush. Blasts the finger paints, play doh, puree and dried milk off before settling down. Then can get up, brush teeth and go in the morning

I showered while dd is in her high chair. We get up and she has breakfast and then I hop in a quick shower after she's eaten.

Sometimes I get in the bath with DS (2.4) and have done since he was a baby. That way I am somewhat clean. Showers are for before bed or go the weekend or when DH is around. Although now he happily comes in with me and chatters non stop while I shower.

After I've put Dd to bed and before we have dinner. Shower, dry hair, can take as much time as I want and saves time in the morning before work.

I let him toddle around our room. We have an ensuite and it's baby proofed. I leave a few toys out but he invariably tries to get in the shower with me.

I shower during their afternoon nap or I sometimes let them run around the bathroom while I have a very quick shower. I have forgotten what it is like to shower in peace and at your own leisure.

My dd has always been in the bathroom with me if I needed a shower when she was up and about. I take in a few toys, or give her some of the bath toys and an old toothbrush and get her to 'wash' them. As long as there isn't anything your Ds can get into he shouldn't.

Shower in morning.
If he cries,he cries.its not a biggie.you need a routine that wirks for you
You cant build every task around whether or not a baby will cry

Morning nap time is the only time I can do it, now he's mobile (10 months). If I need to be out before then, I need to be up and showered before he wakes - which is a PITA.

Need to baby proof his room, so I can just put stair gate across his door and be able to leave him play for a few minutes.

• shower over bath. Put baby at one end of bath with toys and bath at same time. Or have bath together and add shower attachment to wash hair

• seperate shower, sit baby on floor of shower out of main shower water. Let then play with rubber duck. And they half clean at same time

• let them play with bath toys on bathroom floor.

Shower is less than 5 mins usually so if they are in bathroom with you, door closed and they can't reach soap etc then leave them to play/ cry if needed. They will get used to the fact you have to do it

Put wean in cot if he cries,he cries.you've got stuff to be getting on with
And well one cant immediately respond to every gurgle.he can wait
Like if you're working at home or taking a call.he needs to wait til youre done

YY I can't understand all this taking baby into the shower with you. That's not a good long term plan surely?

Why would anyone take a wean in shower,too hot, detergents,slippy.utterly stupid
A wean wont expire if left safely in its cot when adult in shower.

I have no idea scottishmummy, how they are safer than in their cot I don't understand. They will get an eyeful of shampoo or bang their head on the taps.

Then they get to freeze while you get out presumably. Could be fun with twins.....
