Where do you change baby's bot downstairs?

Hi,

Silly question really but what do others do? I shouldn't really but I use the dining table with a mat on and a baby box of nappies and creams etc, or sometimes on the floor. I haven't bought a downstairs change table as thought it a silly expense, just wondered what other mums and dads did?

My baby is one this week. Still use dining table with map and basket of nappies etc on it. :)

Changing mat on the living room floor. The older dcs don't seem to notice the whiff anymore

anywhere. floor usually on a mat. Never had a change table of any type. dh and I and 3 dcs seem to have survived being changed on the floor, sofa, bed or other available surface.

With both of mine I just took them upstairs and changed them on the changer where the mat, nappies, wipes, cream, nappy bags/bin were always set up. It never occurred to me to do anything different and I still do this with my second DC who is now 2.3.

I appreciate this is not normal, but changing them downstairs is something that never occurred to me which is surprising as I am definitely towards the lazy end of the spectrum - I just like things tidy so didn't want nappies etc all over the house I think.

I go up the stairs. I keep all the stuff there so it is easier to just go up. Bit annoying though.

I'm lazy. Always have kept everything downstairs. Used to use a mat on the floor.

I've always gone upstairs and used the changing table. He rolls around like a little octopus otherwise.

Mat on the living room floor. Used to use the coffee table when he was smaller. TV provides a great distraction and stops him getting up off the mat. Nappies and wipes neatly stored in drawers.

Mat on the floor. I keep nappies, wipes & sacks down here too. Can't be done with all the faffing about going upstairs & downstairs .

Upstairs mostly we do a few downstairs but don't want to stink the front room out.

I store the change mat behind the chair and a little box of nappies/wipes/cream in the pouffe. When I'm downstairs, I chuck it on the floor and do DDs nappy on the floor. (The box is one of those plastic change boxes I was given when DD was tiny, with loads if Johnson's baby products in it). It's v handy x

I never bought a changing station, waste of money for us.

Upstairs we have a changing mat on top of a chest of drawers. Downstairs we have a changing mat tucked down the side of one sofa that we bring out when we need to change them now. In the first few weeks after each of them were born (2nd degree tear with DD and ELCS with DS) i used the change mat on the dining room table. There was no way I could have reached the floor! We always gave the table a quick clean before eating, just in case, so it wasn't a problem

I also got the Johnson's box when I had DS1 - it's now in the sitting room cupboard with all the nappies, wipes and creams in. No way could I be faffed with going up and down stairs for nappy changes so both DS' s get changed on the sitting room floor.

We have a large living room and have the £25 ikea change table at the end of it. It's fab. Upstairs we have no change table and he gets changed on our bed.

I generally change baby upstairs. But I'll soon be moving on to changing her on my knee.

Mostly on a mat on the floor. With DS1 we had the dining table set up like a changing table at one end, but DS2 is just roughing it

We keep all the nappies etc in a nice, tidy box under the coffee table.

Upstairs we have a cot top changer, downstairs a mat on the dining room table. DD not always cooperative with nappy changes and I think the 'change of scenery' with downstairs nappy changes helps. I keep a few different toys in each place.

Change mat on the floor downstairs (we just used our well-stocked change bag for wipes etc) and cot top changer upstairs. I don't think you need two change stations in a house, a change mat on the floor is fine for the room you don't use as much (we change upstairs most of the time).

I also never bought a 'change station' we just put the nappy stuff on top of a chest of drawers upstairs.

Never changed a baby on my knee though (sounds way too advanced for me :-D

Always took dd upstairs to change her.

Always changed in bathroom on mat on floor. Mainly as then I could easily tip poo in the toilet and wash hands all in one place.

I have a basket with nappies, wipes, nappy bags, cream etc. with a changing mat folded up in the top which lives under my coffee table. I just change dd on the mat on the floor. Upstairs we have a changing table in the corner of our bedroom.

Anywhere really. Sofa. Table. Floor where ever really always on a mat

We have a downstairs bathroom, anyhow (but a hard tiled floor in there - ouch!)
