We are 40+ mummies sharing all the highs and lows of our autumn crocus babies. Also sharing tips and information (most crying is tiredness!) and jokes. Please join us!

She feels hot but has cried so hard I'm not surprised (mmm will take her temp using something more reliable than a kiss on the forehead! !)
Her poo is (tmi) foamy (very runny and airiated) could this be my antibiotics upsetting her?
The only way she is comfortable is tiger in the tree hold :(

blueblackdye · 18/11/2013 20:37

It is difficult to imagine Rosebud crying given all the lovely pics of her. I suspect your intake of antibiotics has some side effects on her tummy. But she should not have fever. Have you tried making circles with her legs or cycling ? I know it is more for constipation but if it helps with wind and make her feel more comfy... Hope she gets better soon.
Eagleray, hope baby E won't throw up again.

so many babies with UNcomfy or poorly tummies. Hope they settle tonight and recover soon.

Rosie some excellent advice noted for when my anxiety rises (as it seems to be since I am going to.work to discuss my return this week).

I.looked at dd in the play park last week after (another v tearful) morning at nursery and welled up with live for her galloping, affectionate, excitable creative little spirit and with the feeling I didn't want to miss a minute of her childhood

Phew - finally made it onto sofa after having to get DD back to sleep (she woke crying soon after going down). I feel a bit guilty - had decided her illness was down to teething, and certainly has the symptoms (red cheeks, dribbling, irritability), but since she vomited again this eve I have to assume it's a bug. It's all a bit strange though - masses and masses of snot at night but no trace of it during the day.

Had a lovely afternoon out with Pudding but journey there and back made v difficult by constant crying as she wanted to hold my hand the whole time (impossible when you're driving).

Rosie so sorry I have only just seen your post re SW meet up - let's get something organised as soon as the babies are better. I hope poor little DD is feeling better soon. There are so many tummy bugs going around at the moment I think we all have to assume that's what they have.

KK I really feel for you re insomnia - you have the double whammy of night wakings with a baby, plus things troubling you and stopping you sleep. And it's a vicious circle - things worry you and keep you awake, and then the sleep deprivation makes it hard to cope with even small problems. Definitely speak to your GP before things get any worse. If I ever need help with sleeping I use Nytol, which contains antihistamine, but have just checked and they aren't suitable when BF. I did find earlier this year when I was ill and needed v strong painkillers for my throat that the GP was able to research and prescribe something that the pharmacy said I definitely couldn't have. Something else that might possibly help is the Headspace app which teaches you meditation. I already have it loaded on my phone but haven't listened to it yet, but will give it a go this eve and let you know if it's any good!

I'm now going to pop over onto the FB page to post some info on my sling for Scarecrow and Somewhere

Wishing babies and mummies a very restful night

rosiedays · 18/11/2013 21:59

Kk the breastfeeding network (can't link on phone) were really good when I called them last week about the general anaesthetic. May be worth a call

somewherebecomingrain · 18/11/2013 22:06

knicky I'm sorry to hear about your insomnia and general stress, what is the matter with your mum again? I'm so sorry to ask, apologies, my brain is a seive. Your mum being ill and all that you've been through recently would be enough to make anyone have insomnia. Is there any way you could take more time before going back to work? Yy to meditation apps - I used them in pregnancy.

scarecrow sorry re oh. What is your no sugar crumble recipe? We must talk sugar as I'm obsessed with it - eating it, cooking with it, cooking without it, using different forms of it, sugar substitutes in all their after-tasty variety.

bbd arrrrgh re dental story! It's an 'in your 40s' thing clearly.

rosie sorry re Dh in the shop. [sticking your tongue out emoticon]

Knicky hope some of Rosie's ideas, the Nytol, the sharing or our affectionate support help younger a little more sleep tonight x

EagleRay · 18/11/2013 23:09

By the way, I found the 40+ pregnancy thread earlier and it seems to have ground to a halt finally (no one has posted for weeks). Made me feel kind of sad as it was such an incredible journey, but on the other hand, there's a load of us still going and even running off for RL meet ups at the drop of a hat and planning xmas get-togethers!

knickyknocks · 19/11/2013 06:34

eagle I think snot in babies is always worse lying down, it accumulates and the only way they can get rid of it is by vomiting. Yuck all round. You could try a snot sucker (always makes me feel a little queasy....) The pregnancy thread has ground to a halt? I'm really sad to hear that. It got me through some tough times. I think the conception thread is still going so hopefully someone else may start another thread? In the meantime, you're quite right, either way those threads have led to this thread and the wonderful ladies on here.

Thank you again everyone for your advice and support re sleeping. I'm not breastfeeding, so can use medication if needed. That said, had a small glass of wine last night, and didn't go to bed till I felt exhausted and just fell asleep Smile. DH did the 11pm feed, but baby KK still woke at 3.50 and then was terribly unsettled til l got with him at 5.10am. All this said, I slept solidly up until 3.50, so things are far brighter today Smile

rosie think bad is right, could be the antibiotics but if she's got a temp sounds more likely a bug. Calpol and nurofen are the way forward. I usually take DC to the GP if symptoms ate.longer than 24 hours to check chests, ears and throats. Hugs and hope she feels much better soon x

knickyknocks · 19/11/2013 06:56

somewhere Mum was diagnosed with early stage of Parkinson's a couple of weeks ago. She has a fairly pronounced tremor in her hands. At the moment she doesn't need any support and I hope that remains that way for a long time yet. My dad died 10 years ago and I have a difficult relationship with my brother, so think the main care for Mum will fall to me. Not entirely sure how this would be managed with 2 small children, working 4 days a week. Still not there yet and hopefully not for a long time. She has a Parkinson's nurse coming to see her at the end of this week to assess how safe she is at home and

knickyknocks · 19/11/2013 06:57

Any adaptations that can be made for her house.

GoatBongoAnonymous · 19/11/2013 07:58

Knicky I too am not surprised that you have insomnia with all you have been dealing with. Some great ideas here too, which I might have to steal, as I am struggling too at the moment. Although I have decided just to think of it as the me time I never get otherwise, and have enjoyed a bit of reading, audio book listening, MNing... Still would rather be asleep though!
BG is almost back to his normal self, porridge and toast for breakfast. Thing is, he seems to have given it to the childminder's kids, so she has had to shut for 48 hours while she deals with the vomfest Confused. Oh dear. I have already taken 3 days off work so DH is with him today, and I am off on Wednesday anyway. I will have to think of things to do out of the house tomorrow as both of us are going slightly nuts with cabin fever! (Other than our trip to A&E today is the first time I have left the house in a week...)
Off to find out if my brain still works.

GoatBongoAnonymous · 19/11/2013 08:00

That is sad about the pregnancy thread, esp as some names have vanished kind of in between - badmissm?

rosiedays · 19/11/2013 09:14

Morning ladies :)
A surprisingly good night here. We spent most of the afternoon nappy off laying on a Terry with a liner under bum as dd absolutely hates having a dirty nappy and I would have got through about 20 nappies if I had tried to contain it. lovely bath and dd fell asleep in my arms which she hasn't done for ages (usually boobs to sleep) wake ups at 10, 12, 2, 5 and up for the day at 7. No poo left so no overnight poo stories, sorry :)

Eagle. ... any reason why you should be lurking on pg board??? Hmm
It is sad that the thread has stopped, I lurked for ages Blush before posting and all your stories really helped me on difficult days. (Who was it that was nipple twiddling to induce labour? ? )Pg seems so long ago (thank god! )
Had first viewing on house yesterday so looking forward to the feedback. Fx it goes soon. Have really come to terms with the emotional side of selling it. Rosebud is worth cashing in an investment for. I will be reinventing the money into her. ii can probably pay my self for a year. And have a bit left for big move (as long as i keep it away from dh!) I sshould be proud of that right?

EagleRay · 19/11/2013 09:22

Fucking awful night here. Was probably overdue for this as she's been a pretty good sleeper since 6mo.

Last vom was around midnight - her response to me offering Calpol

Will be back later

blueblackdye · 19/11/2013 09:51

Yes Rosie you can be proud !
Today is more clearing cupboards for me. And also a bit of shopping for crafts material, DS and the nativity play !!!
A has been v good these past days, asleep by 7/7.30, sometimes wakes up around 8.15/8.45 and then solid sleep until 6.30/7. DS is getting better as well, falling asleep on his own around 7 until 6/6.30.
They have been sharing toys and taking turns. As soon as DS gets down from his high chair, A would litterally run to climb on it. It is so funny to see these little legs going fast, she looks like a robot which cannot stop walking ! She has been telling me lots of stories as well, bringing books over and sitting on my lap for me to read, not listening more than 5 sec but it is a start. She sometimes takes my hand and leads me to the stair gate and asking me to go downstairs, if I don't, I get those cries and screams as if I was slaughtering a pig. I need to take a pic one of these days or a video.
Enjoy this bright clear cold day ! These babies would love a sleep in the fresh air.

scarecrow22 · 19/11/2013 13:41

yy Rosie I think your story is wonderful. What an amazing woman giving lifeline every sense to three more women and supporting them and yourself so strongly. Thanks

scarecrow22 · 19/11/2013 13:42

life in every sense

somewherebecomingrain · 19/11/2013 14:40

knicky That is huge. It sounds like you have some time to get used to it but huge. I think you are being pretty amazing to deal with all of this and the insomnia makes total sense although you say you had it with dd when presumably nothing like this was going on. I really hope you can fit some rest and some treating-yourself-nice into your life. I hope your mum is ok - I don't know much about Parkinson's. anything with mums is so emotional (sorry to state obvious) but just thinking of the russian doll thing - who mentioned that? keep us posted.

goat I missed the start of BG's illness so can only say how great he has recovered.

I wonder if BG eaglet and somelet are connected by the same Lurgy - somelet is very under the weather, covered in snot, sleepy, off her food and there have been some milky sicks which as she posseted so recently aren't raising my pulse but on reflection they are real sicks iyswim.

rosie how is rosebud? Def a good idea to sell - market strong but may not stay that way.

Rosie that sounds amazing and indeed fx for quick house sale so you and Rosebud can enjoy the proceeds!

Bbd it sounds like A and BG have been conferring on behaviour. He does exactly the same, 5 second attention on books, leading me to stair gate, and oh my, the sounds of bloodcurdling house if horror screams if I am too slow to respond! Plus the lying on floor flailing limbs and peeking to see if I am watching...

Eagle sorry to hear that Eaglet is unwell. How was gp? Useful I hope! And Somewhere, def something doing the rounds by the sound of things.

GoatBongoAnonymous · 19/11/2013 15:46

There is a beautiful rose quartz sunset over Wembley stadium. No one else on the train has looked up. WIBU to stand up and shout "Look at what you are missing!" And point urgently before the colour fades?

scarecrow22 · 19/11/2013 16:57

babyScarecrow (from now on Tintin!) also Dmitry, sicky but nit vomiting and off food mostly, though not notably sleepy. Sounds like BG and babyEagle got the full whack, but curious about others as had been in two minds about whether something wrong or not (apart from apparent fourth cold in a row Sad )

scarecrow22 · 19/11/2013 16:58

snotty, not Dmitry
