Morning everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL - did manage sporadic internet access whilst we were away but no time to post, just a quick read now & again. We stopped with friends overnight on the way home on Saturday and I woke up at 2am and basically wasn't off the loo for the rest of the night! Nothing better for a 4 hour drive home the next day! Feel much better now though. Apart from that, we really enjoyed our little roadtrip.
Rosa seems to have had a massive developmental leap over the last week, and is now pointing, pulling up to standing on her own, stands on her own for a good few seconds and has started feeding herself a bit with a spoon. Still no movement apart from bum shuffling though!
Really hope the teeth are getting better Rosie & Somewhere. And hope everyone's night was OK. Cycle, I'm so sorry my love, I only saw the message this morning but I've PM'd you now.

rosiedays · 13/11/2013 08:37

Just popping in to say hi :)
Lots going on and struggling to keep up.
Scarecrow. .. How's T? I'm so sorry i didn't realise how concerned you are about him.

Teeth !! Sympathy to all fellow sufferer's. .. right now I'd be happy for a full set of wallies (Scottish for false teeth)
I've got my appointment for first surgery next month. wwill require a general anaesthetic! !! ! In total panic as rosebud still refusing bottle and always feeds to sleep and I'll not be able to feed her for 6 hours including her settling to sleep feed. Also need second adult as aparantly dh can't be responsible for both of us.
Sinking under a pile of paperwork, emails and phone calls re house.
Hugs to all. X

scarecrow22 · 13/11/2013 12:23

Rosie and Some do hope teeth okay for now. It's such a personality changing pain. sympathy.

cycle good luck meeting kids. I guess it's a chance for you to pull out if they are horrors (have you ever done this?)

Rosie and cycle looking at a Xmas get together on We'd Dec 4 if that suits you. Otherwise would be 11th. So far noa of yes/maybe/no are the same for both dates. Full thread was started by Pudding on FB.

T has refused to take bf, only bottle, last two nights. Funny creatures babies. I seem to breed self weaning babies. Am both a little Sad and Smile. that he is happy and I'm not withdrawing essential comfort from him He is also well able to do without late morning milk - so approx 3-4 milk feeds.in day and one or more on demand at night. This is sooner than dd dropped a feed but is okay I think?

Some what was that blw site you recommended? he's keen to self feed.more and would.be good to encourage.

Lovely to hear from Knotty and yes big developmental.changes. Loved all pics on fb. Still imoreased by curry and chips Wink

Eagle what is the animal du jour today? do we get to vote?!

Scarecrow, if I insist on putting A on the breast and she is not hungry, she may end up biting. If T drops a feed today maybe he will come back to it or not. His weight gain will tell you if OK or not :) A on days at nursery feeds morning and evening but when she is with me, she might feed one more time in the morning and/or another time in the afternoon on top of the 2 regular feeds. I am amazed by how my body adapts.
School visit was brilliant. A could start at 3yo. It is very gentle, nurturing, it has a huge outdoor space, the smells from the kitchen were yummy ! I quite liked the headmistress. Planning to see 2 other schools as well. Distance also plays on the decision making process as I need to be able to do both school runs. Of course, the main criteria is whether we like the school or not. But how can you tell if it is the school for her ? I know she has her personality already but she will keep on changing. Oh well... I have a bitof time ahead !

rosiedays · 13/11/2013 14:02

Re Xmas meet. .. I've posted on fb.
Bbd. .. I'm with you. .. boobs are amazing multi purpose portable baby tools! :)
I love reading all your child development posts :) gives me a great heads up on what to expect next! Lol
Working through the 'l Need this baby to take a bottle' drama and remembering all your efforts and advice to each other has been a god send. Thank you all. Xxx

EagleRay · 13/11/2013 19:36

scarecrow no animal decided for tonight yet! If anyone has any suggestions/requests please shout as I will get cracking once DD is in bed Smile

scarecrow22 · 13/11/2013 20:05

Dolphin

scarecrow22 · 13/11/2013 20:05

(Er, please)

blueblackdye · 13/11/2013 20:26

Unicorn, please Eagleray, DS just saw an ad for Winter Wonderland with a unicorn and he is now obsessed with it. Actually with both, unicorn and WW. Scarecrow, it is very tempting to take DS to Kew for WW a Wed afternoon, I will let you know. And the rest of or gang, of course.
A has had 5 soiled nappies today at nursery ! Lets see tomorrow if it is a gift for her nursery carers only ! I m fine with that, tbh. As long as she goes, even better with others than me ! Keeping FX here, we had a 7.15/6.30 sleep yesterday, the night before one waking at 11 but DH settled her back within 5 min, the one before, 2 wakings, first at 8.50 for a feed and 11, again 5 min with Daddy and she was fast asleep.
I m shattered, going to bed now. Night night

rosiedays · 13/11/2013 20:53

Had a read up re breastfeeding after general anaesthetic. ... anyone got any experience? I can't seem to find a good reason to wait at least 4hours (dental nurse advice) as feeding is ok after general for section? ??
Having got a lovely working bedtime with rosebud i don't want to spend the next 3weeks messing about with bottles and rocking to sleep if i don't need to, she feeds to sleep beautifully and i love this time with her.
Any advice...... I will post in breast and bottle later too. ..

Eagle ray please Eagle :)

EagleRay · 13/11/2013 21:07

Rosie I was looking at eagle rays a few days ago! Can't remember if I found one that was easy enough to do, but will take another look. Will also look at unicorn and dolphin and get cracking soon.

Am slightly disadvantaged tonight as made a chocolate tart earlier and the recipe said 2 tsp (or was that tbsp?) of brandy. Anyway, I decided to foolishly take a guess and just poured... Result is a plate of brandy with some biscuit base and chocolate top floating in it Blush It is rather strong tasting too...

blueblackdye · 13/11/2013 21:34

Eagleray, that chocolate tart would make me sleep and snore for 48h at least !

EagleRay · 13/11/2013 21:58

It tasted bloody horrible!

Might have put me off chocolate tart for life...

Anyway, now for the unicorn

blueblackdye · 13/11/2013 22:07

Eagle, I will not compete with chef Midget, never but I will make you one if you can make it for the xmas meet up. Although keeping my fx for your job hunt. :)

cyclecamper · 14/11/2013 18:41

I'm completely knackered now. Interview in Balham this morning, home for lunch, baby Makaton this afternoon, home, call from washing machine man to say he'd be here shortly, asked stepson to hang around downstairs because our bell doesn't work, went to meet children from second job, home to find stepson hadn't bothered going downstairs and a note through the door saying no answer from door or phone will return 4pm tomorrow. Burst into tears.

scarecrow22 · 14/11/2013 19:30

cycle Brew for now Wine for later.
(hug)

blueblackdye · 14/11/2013 21:16

Hope you have a quiet night Cycle. How frustrating.

Had a lovely day with A, she fell asleep during school run, kept on sleeping when I arrived home, left her in pushchair in the hall with door open, ran upstairs to cook lunch, she woke up at 10.25, happy and chatty, we had a very civilised lunch together, she listened to my singing and sang along moving her little hands, then more play while I had my shower at 1.30pm ! Unscrewing the radiator and watching my reaction through the shower panel... Left home again at 2.40 to pick up DS, she fell asleep again until 3.25. By 7 she was ready to go to bed but DH called and woke both kids up, he forgot his keys at work ! Lovely day but nothing gets done...

rosiedays · 14/11/2013 22:28

Very similar day here bbd, just lovely. Played with rosebud all day, put our favourite nursery rhymes cd on, went for nature walk (she loves trees) cooked dh favourite fish pie
Cycle your day sounds tough. Hope you've got your feet up now.
Eagle. .. how can brandy and chocolate NOT taste good? ??

GoatBongoAnonymous · 15/11/2013 04:46

Cycle, a broken washing machine in the presence of a baby sounds like pure torture to me. I add more Cake to scarecrow's offerings.
Ooh, bbd is going for bribery and corruption on maybes for the Christmas meet up! Wink I will join in if it helps! (Being a kiwi I do great muffins, annnnnnd -drumroll- pavlova!!)
All this cooking though, mmmm. Eagle, as Rosie says, what's not to like about brandy and chocolate?
Bbd, it's not a day on which nothing gets done, on the contrary, the really important things get done Smile

Am up with a hot, vomiting baby Sad Poor BG.

cyclecamper · 15/11/2013 10:12

Poor BG, hope it clears up soon and you got some sleep.

Thank you all, I think stepson knows he screwed up - he actually brought the washing up down from his room: 4 plates, one pasta dish and some glasses.

Cake and especially pavlova gratefully received!

littleredmonkey · 15/11/2013 10:32

bytheseaside · 15/11/2013 11:24

morning all! i agree it is not possible for chocolate and brandy to taste bad :-)
working at home last couple of days getting ready to go back ft. dreading it but have found brain still works. phew.
would love to come to meet up remind me when and where it is? panic house hunting (again, please hit me anyone who remembers what happened last time) though so may not be possible to get to London. Was a halfway-to-south-west meet ever mooted as well? could def do that!
baby s teething so feeding most of night. still only has 5 teeth. how long can this possibly last?? what do people do to sooth if not bf? already permanently dosed with calpol and ibuprofen Blush

bytheseaside · 15/11/2013 11:26

well done baby monkey :-)

blueblackdye · 15/11/2013 12:32

Goat, poor baby G, i hate winter and its cohorts of colds and runny noses. Hope he has nt thrown up too much. Poor baby.
LRM, you are getting there, Dylan must be exhausted with activities at nursery, he will sleep better and better (she says, FX praying it is the same for A). DS has a history of coughing and throwing up, the side of his mattress still has marks of these episodes.

Goat, you are right, important things get done and I love these moments. Of course the flat is a tip, nothing else than a untidy playground with toys all over the place, as long as it is not filthy and full of food, I can cope.

I am trying to swap A nursery attendance day so that I can take her to our Xmas meet up. Have we decided on 4th or 11th yet ?

Off to have lunch with a friend. Enjoy this fantastic sunny day !
