pud that growth spurt sounds like hard work not least because of the night wakings. It's crazy how you can survive with such little sleep. Coffee must,be your friend right now! Has the night wakings calmed down?

sparklysapphire · 21/10/2013 14:59

Just checking in. I'd almost finished a longish post and my browser closed itself. Which is especially frustrating as I'm doing the typing one handed while feeding thing. I haven't been on MN much lately, I'll try and catch up when I can, and come on here more often.

We registered DD2 with a day to spare, I'm still not sure if agreeing to go with DH's first name choice was a good idea. But she now has a passport and we're off on holiday for half term.

I hope those of you with poorly babies, or non-sleepers get some respite soon. No routine in our house, as DH and I don't have them due to our weird working hours, so will never manage them with DD2. School has imposed a bit of order, but we're not great at that.

Baby some just killed my message. I name checked all of you. HmmHmmHmmHmmHmm

eagle thanks for photo tutorials! We are the Creative Commons right here. Wiki-fabulous-40-something-mums!

It's all about sharing.

Baby some has the runs. Loud squirting noises every hour, green gunk, off her food.

Been trying to get her on a bottle - worried its the lactose in the formula. Maybe I should ease off.

Hi all :)
Cycle, glad you had a nice weekend away.

Hi sparkly. Well done for registering dd. She will grow into her name. Maybe letting dh choose will help him bond :) dh choose rosebuds name and it took me a while to get used to it. Enjoy your holiday.

Some, i hate loosing posts (which is why I often post early:)

Dr checked rosebuds ears after giving me a Confused look. Not the same gp as before. Said he can't see anything. .. A&Pppowder is working it's magic (I love that stuff) and have nasal spray. Not quite brave enough to suck snot out and we've had some epic sneezes

Anyone else coming tomorrow? ? Pm me or pud for final arrangements.

Eagle have a great trip. X

Rosie glad rosebud getting relief and doc checked her. Fx for a good night. Sorry won't join you tomorrow: sw London not quite sw enough this time Wink

cycle and sparkly lovely to hear from you. Babycycle sounds like a trooper and am v Envy of his sleep: T has regressed while teething and early weaning but hope advent of protein will help! If you want to join the FB group where we can share pics pm Knotty your details Wink Sparkly, hope dh has adjusted well. Name chowing wad a lovely gesture.

Eagle hope you are packed and not too excited to sleep. We will miss you though v much kook forward to the photo fest when you return

Somewhere sorry about your post. Hope babyS's bottom better soon. might it be teething or is it more, er, medical?

bbd hope party went well and we hear news of dem dastardly pirates soon

those with babies around 6mos or who have been weaning for around 6 weeks, roughly what food and how many milk feeds are you doing? T is chucking up quite a lot again. Yesterday masses after every feed, today much less. Not sure if I should be worried, am over feeding, or what (to be fair that will be him over eating really!) Am vaguely on look out for any reaction to milk products but not convinced that's the pattern and he was totally done after his formula on Sunday. TIA

knickyknocks · 21/10/2013 20:34

scarecrow DS having following bottle on waking about 150ml, then a huge bowl of porridge an hour later. More milk about 10.30, roughly 60 ml (suspect will stop that one soon), lunch at 11.30, milk 2.30 (usually about 150 again), tea at 4.30, then 210ml milk at bedtime. Still feeding at 11, usually has 120ml.

No idea whether that's ok or not. He doesn't eat huge quantities at lunch or tea as generally BLW.

Baby KK been throwing up a little too, but usually because he's overdone the yoghurt...(he doesn't seem to know when to stop with it!)

HTH x

rosiedays · 21/10/2013 21:15

I want to write a long and interesting post but 0 energy :)
X post.. Some. .. Thanks for sharing Grin poor baby goat. I'm learning a lot aboutthe wweaning process on here and dreading it!!! I'll take once every 4/5 days bm poo's over hourly green slime and be greatful [grin)

Scarecrow. ..you should write a book called 'most crying is ot, , everything else is probably teaching' Grin
I have no idea what i fed mineprobably chips. T looks like a lad who loves his grub :)

EagleRay · 21/10/2013 21:28

Am in packing hell here. DP wants to take a travel kettle, regardless of the fact that the lid is missing.

Hotel finally booked - rang first to check they had a cot - 'yes yes' then got confirmation email through saying she will be provided with her own bed Confused tomorrow night's 10pm arrival will be interesting

Poo story for ya - DP added frozen peas to DD's dinner last night, and laid them out on the high chair tray for her to pick up. Then today he accounted for every single one of those peas, still intact, in her nappy.

blueblackdye · 21/10/2013 22:16

Oh a lot going on, half term this week, so busy, barely have a sec to sit down and catch up with you all.
Hate colds with babies, feel horrible when have to clean nose with nasal spray or aspirator, don't know what to do when they wake up in the middle of the night, clean or not clean ? Had a humidifier for DS, using eucalyptus essence from time to time. Hope Rosebud will recover soon and her ear is not infected. DS threw up a few times when his airways were blocked and coughed but it did not look painful, rather mechanical than stomach bug.
Sleep regression is awful. Have no advice except try to catch up on sleep with micro naps during the day, chores will wait. DH usually picks up A and tries to put her back to sleep, if she keeps on screaming then the lethal weapon is back in action, boob/s again ! :)
Re Weaning, Scarecrow, my notes show that DS had 4 bottles of 210ml a day when 6/7 mo, (6,10 am then 2.30/3,6.30/7pm) with breakfast around 8, lunch at 11.30, tea at 4 and dinner with us approx 5.30/6. I vaguely remember that the recommendation at 6 months was roughly 700ml of formula milk a day. He sometimes over ate and threw up (3 or 4 times) but eventually knew when to stop eating, I have never really insisted, confident that he would not starve himself. DS gradually cut down his milk intake, midmorning bottle first, but still had mid afternoon bottle until 2.5 yo, by the age of 4.5 y, he was still on 2x330ml a day of cow's milk !
Welcome Notsoold, I remember you from the pg thread. Congratulations !
Hello Cycle, Sparkly, Knicky, Goat, Pudding. The pics on FB are brilliant, these babies are sooooooo cute.
Eagleray, have a wonderful time. We were just about to book Marrakech again for Dec when DH realised DS's passport expires at the end of this month.... Going to the Consulate on Wed ! Hopefully, the renewal won't take more than 2 weeks.

A refuses to be spoonfed, she will only eat whatever she can get in on a spoon or fork. Tonight she had 2 bathes, one before dinner and a second after ! As a result, she wakes up in the middle of the night for a feed anytime between 1 and 6.30 am...
DS's B'day party is on Sat. Pinata is filled up now, treasure chest cake ordered, books for party bags received, champagne bought, guests replies almost complete, still awaiting pinata buster though.

Off to bed now.

scarecrow22 · 21/10/2013 23:07

Thanks for weaning diaries. Sounds.like I'm on the right lines. Difficult working out how much bm taking and I am swapping around milk/feed and feed/milk at "lunch" and "tea" until we find the right balance. I feel like I do nothing buy feed him at moment!!

I have to say I love looking after my children (okay. most of the time), but boy am I sick of keeping house clean and tidy. Even logged into ky work email today after six months - a sign I'm a bit over the good housewife act!

T is king if lentils. Also had his first (baby) biscuit today. A new side if his character emerged as he wailed every time he dropped it Hmm

Ar bedtime dd was crying to see her daddy; in New super parent mode (ok, I'm reading a book called How to talk so your kids will listen,,,) I said You really love daddy don't you... I chose you the best daddy in the world... "And the best Thomas" she replied (ahhh)...then after a moment she perked up "Where the daddy shop, mummy". Oh dear, more explaining to do Grin

scarecrow22 · 21/10/2013 23:09

(sorry, as usual, for typos)

knickyknocks · 21/10/2013 23:24

eagle crossing fingers tmrw's arrival will be less interesting than thought! Er, no lid for kettle? Prise it off him if you have to, can't see it being used for boiling water (but maybe as a nice vase? Grin) ash, what a lovely father daughter moment that must have been with the peas a second time around Grin

Well suspect baby KK has just woken the whole street. He woke for his 11 feed about 10.30, I realised he'd wet himself. Hate it when that happens, negotiating sleeping bag, vest, and sleepsuit - all those bloody poppers! Am I the only one in the semi darkness to somehow always misalign them?? Screaming his.head off for at least 20 mins. Somehow my DD managed to sleep through it. Wash now on, all's quiet again and I'm going to settle in for the night.

Hope it's a quiet one everyone. (goat Rosie pud thinking of you all in particular)

rosiedays · 22/10/2013 00:02

Grrr lost 2nd 1/2 of post!
Can't redo! ! Another hour at dentist today and a baby who is so thirsty, more houses stress and dh birbirthday
Sprinkling heavy duty sleep dust over all the babies and wishing every one a peaceful night.
Eagles reading playing in my head a lot, really helps when the going gets tough.
Scarecrow I'm sure T will be fine. The book sounds interesting
Bbd fab party organising. Meny good mum marks. :)
Kk. 2 piece pajamas! !!

I love my baby so so much. We are truly blessed with the gift of children.
Good night all xx

EagleRay · 22/10/2013 00:45

Mostly packed now - we are way under our limit so DP 'finding' extra things to take (half the kitchen by the looks of things). Heaven forbid that I might actually just want to buy a coffee or lunch at the hotel instead of scrabbling around with a lethal travel kettle and tin mugs!

Wishing you all a very peaceful night Smile

scarecrow22 · 22/10/2013 04:11

bloomin' teeth

cyclecamper · 22/10/2013 08:25

Knicky I use night dresses when baby c goes through a stage of needing changing at night, then there are just the vest poppers. Fortunately he mostly doesn't need a change.

2 nights in a row of sleeping after the 10/11 pm feed until 6am. Either we've turned a corner, the extra blanket is helping or he was totally wiped out by the weekend!

Still debating about wearing. My dad got us a stokke tripp trapp on eBay and baby c seems to like it-he actually sat in it so I could eat my lunch with 2 hands yesterday!

cyclecamper · 22/10/2013 08:26

Weaning, not wearing. I always wear!

blueblackdye · 22/10/2013 08:53

Tripp Trapp is great, DS loves it, A loves it too, she always climbs on it to look at the garden ! She scares me all the time.
We had a 4am feed and woke up at 7.30am, DH was really late for work !

scarecrow22 · 22/10/2013 09:54

as regulars will know my dd has, for most of her life thought 6am was a lie in. In the last month she has slept later and later (7.30am yesterdaySmile ) Then today I thought I heard her at 6.45, went in and said good morning and she turned over and pulled her duvet over her head Grin. 2 going on 14

EagleRay · 22/10/2013 10:41

Ha ha re DD scarecrow - glad she's giving you extra time in bed!

En route to airport - running late, too much luggage and I'm busting for the loo. Oh and DD didnt do her usual poo this morning so think she's saving it for the flight. Will make sure DP is in the aisle seat... Smile

somewherebecomingrain · 22/10/2013 11:38

Hi all

Baby some is better today - poos less green.

Have been struggling to get her to accept formula (I refuse to express why when there's perfectly good formula?) but tommy tipped sippy cup seems to have defused the issu. After spending about £30 on different bottles and teatsConfused.

She glugs it from the sippy cup.

She seems to love hummus carrots peshwari naan cucumber but really dislike banana... She is sick to death of porridge fingers they are so over.

bbd I'm watching your party prep avidly. I'm quite Shock about doing ds's birthday in jan and am planning to copy some of your ideas! it sounds like its very well organised and I bet the food will be exceptional knowing you. No crisps and chocolate. Or just a bit in a very low key supporting role?

Some stories.

Ds is doing phonics and we are doing homework. V exciting. Ok that's not a story.

But he came up to me last night and said 'mummy you are very beautiful'.Grin This is with my new cat eye glasses which dp says makes me look like the frumpy set-hair women in a Gary Larsen far side cartoon.

Story 2 stop reading nw if sqeamish. we went to my cousins on sun for lunch, yum yum, lovely little girl, lovely house, great company. And to crown t they ad two little black kittens! No way yy! Yes! Pick up pick up, show to baby some! Little tiny balls of friendly fluff. Just bought that morning, after spotting mice in the house. From someone they found on the Internet. Who had a filthy house with a line of dead insects at the entrance. And Rottweilers. Yes we're not sure if they need worming. Oh look there's a worm on your hand its just come out of the cat's bottom.

My cuz is great but does he think? His partner is 36 weeks pg! Love them both. We told them about toxo as calmly as poss.
