Saw lovely gp who checked dd over very well. He was very thorough and said apart from not eating, smelly wee, and sleepy she seems fine . to keep an eye over weekend if nappies still smell on Monday he will give me a sample nappy. To try water and watch for temp. Could be viral could be nothing. She's fed again at about 2.30 and 5.30 still very sleepy.
I had dentist pm he has started the work needed :(
I have lost my glasses, favourite feeding scarf, one of dd socks.. God knows what else. A whole new level of tired.
Hope you enjoyed your shopping bbd

rosiedays · 18/10/2013 20:15

In bed feeding dd
Only 4 feeds today and all had to be encouraged. Maybe this is just a new norm?? ? Very odd not to be feeding every 2 hours. Dh says I'm never happy! Lol

Eagle did you book? Envy

Scarecrow. Hope dd is on the mend. Faces do bleed! Dd1 tipped her walker over and face planted the patio at 6 months and dd2 got hit in the face by a rugby Ball at 5 totally squashed her nose and blood every where!

Can't scroll back on phone, hope everyone is well. X

Rosie, relieved your GP has not seen anything alarming, very good advice from Somewhere and Scarecrow.
Eagleray, I have not had a chance to sit at my desktop to view your video on FB but it looks very sweet. Baby Eaglet is very very very cute. i love the pics with her tongue out and her big round eyes.

DS 1st day of half term today, he was v dsappointed not to go to school, reason was he wanted to play with his friends ! It took 6 weeks for him to settle, I'm so glad he likes school. His blending has gone from non existent to v good within 4 weeks, I'm impressed, I don't know if he was ready or the teaching is really good, certainly a bit of both.
The LEA called yesterday to offer him a place at our second choice school, it is a free school with only 16 kids in Reception, I declined it with a bit of regret. Last March, the French school rejected our application. Then in April We were offered a place with our 3rd choice and DH had second thoughts mid June, I ran like a mad hen to visit a private school and get assessment done, we were lucky to finally get DS in the day before we flew to Portugal... And now... I think we have made the right choice, I hope so. Someone told me that the first big decision in life is to have children and the second big one is the kind of education we want for them.

Shopping trip has been postponed to next week. I started cooking and DS was happy playing on his own so I did not rush/push him out. We went to the playground and the Wallace collection again, he wanted to see the Titian painting again ?!

Have received the pirate ship pinata, books for his friends to relace party bags that are usually full of non healthy and non quality items anyway, pirate hat with wig, sword and hook. Have sewed a pirate shirt, well added some golden buttons and chains on a very old shirt of mine, need to find cheap black and white stripe fabric for his trousers now, thought about cutting an old pair of trousers but could not find anything suitable. Was making an eye patch when got carried away with MN... Are still missing pinata fillers, pinata buster, pirate candles and the DVDs he asked for.

I am a proper stay at home Mum now, aren't I ? :)

EagleRay · 18/10/2013 22:00

Very glad the GP took you seriously Rosie and great that you've got reassurance in time for the weekend.

I booked the flights! The baggage allowance was really complicated and I had to contact the airline for clarification, but worth doing as probably would have spent more money otherwise. Basic flights were £90, with luggage £48 per bag on top of that. However, pushchair goes free and DD gets 10kg of luggage (this isn't explicitly stated in the booking process) and her car seat can be weighed and the 10kg limit used for that, and whatever is left over will be for her clothes! Then we will wear some warm clothes on the flight so that we stay within our 20kg main bag limit. And somehow I have to get all the camera gear into the hand luggage allowance of 5kg. Did I mention we were terrible cheapskates? Grin

Very excited now - it will be fairly cold at night but sunny and warm in the middle of the day and we'll be staying in a very quiet village in virtually the last week of the season.

BBD the pirate party sounds fantastic!! So glad you got the pinata - can you order the remaining items on line? I got a lot of the naming day stuff on the web - it made so much easier just being able to press some buttons on the phone.

Knicky poor you re the sleep regression - I think in some ways it's worse if you have a run of good nights then it's taken away again. Hope things settle down again soon, and meanwhile hope the double expression sustains you Smile

The video I posted this eve - DD should have fallen asleep well before 8pm but she just didn't. We really wanted to have our dinner so brought her downstairs and put her in the swing. After dinner she was sat on DP's lap and seemed to be trying all sorts of things to stay awake. Then she spotted the half lemon on the table and grabbed it. I warned DP not to let her chew it for too long and frankly was surprised how keen she was on it! About 2 minutes after the video was shot, she vommed over DP Smile Oh and she's now fast asleep...

scarecrow22 · 18/10/2013 22:00

back from day in Brighton. shattered but had such a great time with friend and her dd who is 10 days older than dd. Chilly, blustery, lovely tired kegs from walking, full of sea air and friendship and icecteak washed down with mugs of tea at Fat Boy Slim's cafe.
Rosie glad doctor was kind and thorough and hope Rosebud settles and recovers soon. And you recover too.
Sorry too tired to talk or move muscles so no more typing.
night all x

bbd hope the bday party goes well. Sounds amazing!

knickyknocks · 19/10/2013 08:19

Oops pressed post too soon!

eagle you do make me giggle. Loved the video on FB. She's so gorgeous - and the thought of her throwing up shortly after the end of that video made,me giggle. Much the same as my kids would do. In fact, I took a short clip of DS the other day in the high chair, him getting all messy, then he sat looking steely eyed at me with a fixed grin and filled his nappy loudly. Said recording stopped forthwith. BTW your hols sounds lovely. No wonder you can't wait. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
scarecrow Brighton trip sounded lovely. I don't mind it when it's out of season, just seeing the sea and breathing in the sea air always does the world of good. Mugs of tea in cafe sounds idyllic!

As for baby KK - he slept through! We'll with a dream feed at 11.30, but didn't stir till 5.15, brought into our bed and got up an hour later. More of that please!!

Rosie how's baby Rosie? Eating better I hope?

knickyknocks · 19/10/2013 08:37

PS knotty your night out sounds fab. Especially that Rosa was absolutely fine. I always find it's in the forefront back of my mind how our LO is when we go out. So nice to come back to hear the babysitter say it's been no problem (not least as this means they will do it again for you Grin)

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 09:19

Hi notso :) Flowers welcome to the snug. It's so nice to have a newborn on the thread. Enjoy your days notso they will be a (wonderful) blur in a few months. :) lots of wonderful support and advice here, just ask.

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 09:21

Rosebud has her first cold :( she is all watery eyed and sniffly. Bless her

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 09:52

Sorry for broken posts. . Multi tasking today :)
Thank you all for your concern. ... so I'm off to get some vick's to rub on her feet, have calpol in the cupboard. Any thing else required? Who had the snot sucker?? Was it any good? ?

Yay eagle have a wonderful trip and keep posting the pictures if you can.

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 10:26

Bbd is it party day today? If so :) hope you have a great day. X

EagleRay · 19/10/2013 11:15

Rosie it was me with the snot sucker! It was given to me as a present by a quirky neighbour, just after I had DD (along with a copy of Grazia and some fine chocolate!) The snot sucker works, although let's just say DD tolerates it less well as she's grown older. You cover one nostril, squeeze the bulb, stick it up the other nostril, release bulb and with any luck a pile of snot will shoot out. Strange combo of icky and satisfying to see nose cleared. Hope your DD is better soon. Oh, and Olbas oil/similar is good too.

Notsoold - congratulations!! Flowers so pleased your DS is here safely - can imagine how delighted you are that he's finally here! Hope your wound heals quickly and that feeding goes well. BTW I've got 8mo DD.

Scarecrow your trip to Brighton sounds wonderfully restorative

KK great news re the sleeping through!

Knotty your evening out sounds fantastic - keep forgetting that this is something we should be trying to do at some point instead of slumping on the sofa and not talking to each other in the evening

Thank you for indulging me my constant uploads onto the FB group. I got another funny video this morning - going to try and steel myself to not upload it as I am clogging up the page!

Won a rocking horse on ebay this morning - how excited am I! Been looking for one for ages as DD keeps trying to rock her high chair and clearly enjoys rocking more than jumping. Interestingly, I enjoyed making the pram rock as a baby and apparently managed to tip it over.

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 11:31

Oh it's lovely to be home. Bags unpacked, Washing nearly all done. Newly acquired baby items finding homes. (Bumboo, blow up sit in ring thing, variety of crawl balls, soft toys and big bag of clothes)
I need to find something for day naps as the basket is getting too small, eagle i like look of your hammock, how long do you think dd will be able to use it? I've started looking on eBay but don't want to get one if it's only going to last a few months. I have a lovely corner one wouldfit in :)

scarecrow22 · 19/10/2013 20:08

welcome home Rosie, how is rosebud re feeding? You probably remember but with cold babies sometimes.want to.feed more Ofsted but less at each feed: to keep hydrated.

bbd hope party went well.

Knotty fab about date night. Rosa did brilliantly as at an age where often het separation anxiety I think. Nobody apart from dh and I can put my dd to bed really, occasionally dSis with lots of reassurance and "mummy on her way back" fibs. Never sure if this is a parenting fail or lack.of meaningful help!!

took dd to a friend of mine's for lunch - was so so.wonderful to have time on our own, like ye olden days pre T. She rewarded me by sitting sweetlybeating het grown up lunch while the other children.moaned about it. I was v proud. Meanwhile dh had T, who took a bottle and was v happy when I arrived back, so feel we've really turned a chapter (mixed metaphor??) and I'm.now on the path to more freedom. I've had an idea for a job I want to create, so need a.not more flexibility to start researching and preparing a pitch.

littleredmonkey · 19/10/2013 20:43

HI notsold. Xx welcome
Three hours kip and 8 hours work makes mummy monkey feel like crap. But love baby monkey and all his fluffy hair. Tried hypnosis earlier. You will sleep yoy will sleep.

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 20:54

rosebud has another first today :( she sneezed, covered her face in snot, looked mortified then cried. My first thought was to take a picture but we were in tesco's so restrained myself. Of course I hadn't got the baby bag and no tissues. ... I used my tee shirt Blush
She's feeding but struggling :( she also won't feed on right side, my gut instinct wis ear ache? (Dd2had terrible ears) she's being a little soldier though bless her
This is the first cold. :(

EagleRay · 19/10/2013 21:11

Rosie I've got an Amby hammock - they change hands on Ebay for around £50, although the price does vary a lot! They're suitable from birth til 12 months - would say mine has been worth every penny. The stand dismantles so you can use it as a travel cot too. By the way, the hammock bounces rather than swings, and DD now propels it herself by kicking her legs! Poor little Rosebud with the snotty nose - good though that she can propel it out by sneezing!

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 21:17

Scarecrow, good luck with the business idea. Love the idea of creating a job and have been mulling an idea over myself. I would love to work for myself but am a bit daunted as I've never done it in UK. Next week lm going to research how to do it (the practical stuff) it can't be that difficult. ..
Also had loads of progress with dh and child care ( he survived the 15 min court case lol), I'm trying the gently gently lots of prase and encouragement route. Dh had dd for 1whole hour while I went to the dentist (she slept he played fifa!!!) he also
Offered to keep her home while I ran some errands! His conference is really growing and he's happy to just have a bottle of water for emergency. He's also stopped looking like he's doing me a favour if he attends to dd. This week off seams to have worked wonders. Let's see what next week brings.

Oh and well done everyone for surviving the full moon. .. I didn't even realise it had passed. :)

rosiedays · 19/10/2013 21:30

Thanks eagle. .. I'll start looking, what did others do when lo outgrew basket? She will often fall asleep on her play mat (it does look comfy) and she's got a few months left in her swing chair I would think. The sofa is not an option (to small,
I would have nowhere to sit! ) and i would like to keep her in the lounge for a while yet. i had a big old pram for dd1&2 it was amazing i only ever used it in the house or gardenn!
