OMG survived three weeks of dd, T and I being poorly in various combinations and finally think I see the light at the end of the tunnel! Had a goodish day with kids and finally tackled desert jungle of my front garden which had not touched since last year!! Both kids asleep by 7 too. DH and I so exhausted having Alien, chocolate and wine for supper!!

scarecrow22 · 12/10/2013 19:07

littleredmonkey · 12/10/2013 20:44

Scarecrow. Hows t? Baby monkey has had a terrible cough went to gp Friday as he has diarrhea as well. Doc says coughing and swallowing phlegm makes them extremely bum runny. No kidding Sherlock! !! Shits for Britain. He also gave him an inhaler to open the airways. He doesnt have an infection but the inhaler looks like a bit of drugs parifinalea with an inhaler strapped to it. Seems to help
Eagle. Hope u had a lovely day honey
Sending sleeping dust fairies to you all to sprinkle extra sleeps to all our babies and all the ones that poorly a calpol laced version. I always sprinkle a bit on baby m every time I put him in his cot just a sprinkle or two. If he wakes dp says did you not sprinkle enough. Last week with his cold I was tossing lashings of it

littleredmonkey · 12/10/2013 20:48

Baby monkey likes classic fm. Post man pat and my special version of twinkle twinkle. I also make up songs about everything
While I walk him I type poems into my phone about our walk and what we see hear see or do. I will make him a little book soon. A memory for me and him of our first few years together

rosiedays · 12/10/2013 20:52

40 ml. Yey Wine
Here's to lots of sleeping baby stories tomorrow esp scarecrow and pud? Goat don't want to jinx but have the last couple of nights been better?
Eagle hope you had a great day. Been thinking of your reading all day. :) it's beautiful.

rosiedays · 12/10/2013 20:54

Lrm how special. What a lovely gift. X

Evening! We made it! Boy am I tired now...

This morning was very frantic, but thankfully DD let us sleep (apart from the brief waking around 11pm, she slep 8 til 8!!!!!!!!!!!!). Scarecrow am beginning to wonder if the vicks on foot thing has actually made a difference as she's suddenly waking a lot later (well, 2 nights in a row)

So we got up, had breakfast, got dressed in our outfits then loaded up the car and only left 30 mins late! Then we had to get the key, open up the venue and very quickly decorate it. DD wouldn't be put down so I had to sit there and try and dictate my artistic visions to others as they fiddled with bunting and various other bits.

Then suddenly everyone had arrived and we were nearly ready to start, so cue DD pooing everywhere and the nappies go missing. Then we realise FiL nowhere to be seen and a quick phone call establishes he's got lost en route and is still miles away. Kids and babies getting v fidgety so we start anyway. I did my reading and only broke down on the third last line, but managed to recompose myself and finish it - hurrah! The music went down well too Smile

Then there was a big rush for the buffet lunch and I managed to get around and talk to most of the guests. We set up a snug-like area at the back of hall for the babies (toys, floor cushions etc) and it meant that everyone could be pacified/amused during the ceremony and afterwards. DD fell asleep in her car seat immediately after the ceremony and so that left us free to eat, drink and socialise for a while.

After the savoury stuff, we wheeled out the cakes - cream tea, cupcakes and pavlova, with a special naming day cake too. The 10 or so kids there divided into girl and boy groups and while the girls danced to music, the boys went outside to try and climb the walls of the building!

Then everyone drifted away, we swept the floors and boxed up the remaining food and shut the doors!

Back home now, exhausted but very happy and so relieved it went pretty much without a hitch. DP overestimated how much booze people would want to drink and opened 6 bottle of prosecco, of which 3 weren't touched, so we are trying to work our way through the remaining open bottles this eve Blush

Thanks for all your kind wishes - going to put my feet up now and will chat properly tomorrow. Meanwhile, wishing you all a peaceful night

scarecrow22 · 12/10/2013 21:11

monkey beautiful imagery, in both senses I'm sure. Thanks for tip about inhaler: I feel like I need one so might take us both for more drugs I make up songs and rhymes about loads of stuff: they are truly pants, and nobody would write them down, but like that DD started singing to herself and making up lyrics.

Since been poorly also got weary of making up stories, especially as every story for two months at least has had to feature a character from Fireman Sam with a broken leg Blush So now retelling traditional fairy tales slightly adapted for 2yo, which is I guess how they would have been used in ye days of yore. I need a good edition to remind me of the details of many: any recommendations? Makes me think goat and Rosie will probably have some wonderful traditional tales from different cultures.

Right: early night to lie and contemplate the zillion things I ^could^ do with my day off.....

rosiedays · 12/10/2013 21:34

Yay eagle so glad your day went well. Sounds amazing :)
Scarecrow All egyptain children are told if they don't finish their food it will chase them in their sleep! !! Confused! This myth will be unavoidable in our house! !!
Well dh has taken dd and my precious 40ml and gone to bed. .. i have the sofa the tv remote and a glass of port! Sleep is not far away. Xx

cyclecamper · 12/10/2013 21:56

That sounds lovely Rosie! Hope you get a fab sleep.

What a lovely day Eagle. I'm glad it went well.

There seem to be a lot of coughs and colds around. Baby Camper has a terrible cough and something of a rotten nose. I think Monday is going to involve a trip to the Dr. Sad I've got some of it as well, which doesn't help with the sleep.

I moved the moses basket to the end of the bed today (from next to me), as a step towards the arrival of the cot, which involves me going into the loft and having a good rummage, which should also produce the 3-6 month clothes that N is about to grow into. (The advantages of a small baby - nearly 6 months use out of the moses basket!) Putting up the cot is going to involve a lot of moving furniture around. Since T still has a broken collar bone, this involves me doing most of the work, or getting the big stepson to help. I'm not looking forward to it much!

Hope everyone feels better tomorrow and gets plenty of sleep!

somewherebecomingrain · 13/10/2013 08:19

lrm that's such a lovely idea - the poems. That and a poop-storm - kinda sums motherhood up.

I write a diary so ds got into that but nothing special.

Have TONNES to say about music but no time. Baby somewhere moaning.

eagle sounds superb. Cream cakes, emotional breakdown during reading, little kids dancing - check check check! Do we get pics on fb?

rosie more Egyptian wisdom - going to try the chase you in your sleep idea on ds.

camper is it really 6 months?

Just had a lovely indulgent browse of the baby pics on face book. Lurrrrvely. Can put all those pics up I didn't dare put up on my main page for fear of irritating people!

knottyhair · 13/10/2013 09:08

Yes, yes, more pics on FB please! Eagle, so glad your special day went so well.

scarecrow22 · 13/10/2013 10:14

so far on my day off I have learned

  • data off begin when the grand prix ends
  • dh has special hearing which excludes baby monitor
  • dh does not know when T eats, what he eats, where his food is, or when he sleeps
  • it is possible to be so tired that you get up at 7.30, and when you go back to bed an hour later you fall asleep within 4 minutes

Three cheers to dh though as he has worked v hard this week for six days and he is nothing if not patient and living with kids

PuddingAndHotMilk · 13/10/2013 10:25

So pleased your day was lovely Eagle ThanksThanks

LRM sorry I missed you in my post, I hope the drugs are working and baby monkey is on the mend too. I make up songs for BabyPud too - if anyone was listening they'd think I was crazy - I get pleased with myself when I make a rhyme Wink

Cycle I missed you too, sorry to hear baby cycle is unwell too - you've had a tough time!! Hope your SS can help with the furniture moving. Look after yourself! How's MrCycle doing with his collar bone? Hopefully it's healing well.

scarecrow doesn't sound like a great start to your day off but I love your compassionate approach to DH's shortcomings... Hope he learns quickly on the job and you get more rest Thanks

Somewhere, knotty I'm adoring all the pics too. It's made me realise I want to make a photo book of her first 3 months (and subsequent quarters...). I put a post there to arrange the SW meet up. Is there anyone who wants to come who isn't in the FB group?

Hope all the poorly babies are on the mend and everyone got good sleeps. BabyPud fell asleep downstairs at 10:30 (unusual) stayed asleep for tx to crib (unheard of) and slept til 3 (miraculous) fed til 3:30 she then had an unsettled sleep til 7!!! I feel like a new mummy!!
I think the IG is helping Grin

MrsCosmopilite · 13/10/2013 11:03

Sorry, after the welcome, real life rather got in the way.

Sounds as though everyone is having a reasonably hectic time of it! Am just wondering what rainy day activities I can do indoors with a toddler with a sloppy bum (not d&V, just a bit 'loose'), in a very tiny one-bed flat, where the elderly cat is unlikely to tread on/vomit on whatever we're doing.

Would go out but need to be by phone for elderly unwell relatives :/
