When did you move baby out of your room?

Just that really. I know the guidelines and I know a few friends who moved theirs much much earlier. Wondering how common it is? Am tempted to move DD to the next door room once her head control is decent rather than wait the full 6 months as its having a very negative affect on my DS having her in with us.

What did you do?

Dd1 was about 7 months, dd2 was 7 weeks!

breatheslowly · 31/08/2013 19:52

We moved DD at 6 mo. It wasn't because of the guidance. She was in a co-sleeper cot and at 6 mo had started to be able to turn around and kick me.

Lots of friends have moved them before 6 mo.

TheSporkforeatingkyriarchy · 31/08/2013 19:52

How is it affecting your DS?

Due to mobility, I waited a while, particularly with my older two who were both in with us until 18 months or so. We moved after that, but it was still close to a year for the younger two.

27 weeks.

SauvignonBlanche · 31/08/2013 19:57

Six months and a day.

MinesAPintOfTea · 31/08/2013 19:58

10 months

MrsBungle · 31/08/2013 19:58

Six months here with both of mine.

mrsmalcolmreynolds · 31/08/2013 20:03

Just under three months for both of them. DD becauseI found it v difficult to sleep with her in the room, DS because he has just outgrown the moses basket.

gutzgutz · 31/08/2013 20:03

About 10 weeks with both. DS1 (3) and DS2 (7 months). Both fine, seemed to sleep better in their own room. Didn't even bother with monitor as walls thin and the nursery was right next door. Plus I have/had big babies and they outgrew the Moses basket and our room doesn't fit a cot. I know the SIDS advice but I was comfortable taking the (very slight IMO) risk. I was moved at 1 week (1970s) as the plastic pants over my terry nappy rustled and kept my parent awake!

lifesobeautiful · 31/08/2013 21:25

8 weeks for DS, and DD still in with us because we're on holiday, but plan to move her when I'm home - and that'll be 12 weeks.

Pascha · 31/08/2013 21:26

DS1 was about 4 months I think, DS2 was 6.5 months due to not having the room ready earlier.

BronaghT · 01/09/2013 06:23

My DS was never in our room. He slept in his own room and cotbed from day 1. Whatever suits you and your baby is best.

RoadToTuapeka · 01/09/2013 06:44

DS1 at 5 1/2 months, DS2 at 7 months. We waited longer for the second one of necessity as were living with relatives from when he was 3 months and had to share a room with him til we found our own place.

Gooseysgirl · 01/09/2013 07:08

DD went straight to her own room, I slept in with her for three months. DC2 is coming in Dec and we are in 2 bed flat so it will be musical beds for awhile... DH in DD's room and me with DC2 until we reach a point where we think they can share. For those who want to follow the guidelines it's not always possible due to lack of space!

Sizzlesthedog · 01/09/2013 07:14

7 months. Far too long. We all slept better afterwards. Should have done it months before. Only thing that prompted it at 7 months was my appointment with Millpond and I didn't want to admit to still room sharing.

brightonbythesea · 01/09/2013 08:38

As soon as my DD slept through the night consistently, so about 3.5 months. I found it hard to keep her in this long though for all the rustling and funny noises she made!

pingulingo · 01/09/2013 08:48

DS1 - about 5 months

DD1 - 11 months and her cot is still in our room. She's a great sleeper but DS1 isn't so I can't let them share a room yet. Im hoping to have her moved within the next 6 months though. Probably once DS1 is talking properly.

roweeena · 01/09/2013 13:21

1 night and then DS was moved into the nursery with me on a campbed in there for 8 weeks.

We couldn't keep the cat out of our bedroom (small London flat with cat flap into the bedroom) so I didn't get a wink of sleep that first night.

Now pregnant again and in a house so not sure when this one will be moved - I think it's unlikely we will do the whole 6 months though.

jimijack · 01/09/2013 13:22

7 months

ThursdayLast · 01/09/2013 13:26

14 weeks, due largely in part to the heat wave (nursery marginally cooler) and DS growing out of Moses basket (big bugger)!
Loved having my own space back, but it obviously helped that he slept through by then. No way I would be so keen if I had to get up and get him all night long!

Iamanorangesmartie · 01/09/2013 13:27

Dds 7 days, dd2 6 days

RNJ3007 · 01/09/2013 13:27

6.5 months with DD.

I think DS may take longer, but he's only 2 weeks old, so I'm not thinking too much about it.

TheFallenNinja · 01/09/2013 13:35

6 weeks.

Mumof3xx · 01/09/2013 13:38

6 months for dc 1&2 3 months for dc3

Less for dc3 due to us not having space for cot in bedroom which we did have before (different house)

thebirdsandbees · 01/09/2013 13:55

18 months for dc1 & still co-sleeping with 16 mo dc2. I love having my babies close to me.
