Hi all,

Just wondering when your lo started crawling and walking ? DS is 10.5 mo and doesn't crawl. He does get around the whole place by sliding on his tummy (as great speeds).... He even attempts to stand, but no success yet...

Should I be worried ? Or is he going to be one of those kids who skip crawling and just start walking...

Thanks :)

DS crawled at 8.5 months, was cruising round furniture by 9 months and walked at 15 months.

DD never crawled. She did a sort of bottom shuffle type thing from 10.5 months and walked at 15 months.

So they got there in very different ways but both walked at the same time.

Whatevertheweather · 23/08/2013 09:56

DD1 crawled at 7 months and walked at 9.5 months

DD2 crawled at 10.5 months and is now 12 months and has just started cruising but can't stand without holding onto something yet

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 23/08/2013 09:57

I can't remember with the crawling but with the walking

DS1. 91/2 months
DS2. 12 months
DS3. 11 months

All three of mine were the same, pretty much to the week-crawling at 8 mths, walking at 15-16 mths.

None of them did anything particularly early, but now two are at school you realise that when in a class of 30, they all catch up!

blacktreaclecat · 23/08/2013 18:59

Commando crawling 9 months
Proper crawling 10.5 months
Cruising 11 months
Walking 14 months

meandtheboys · 23/08/2013 19:05

DS1: crawled at 9.5 months, walked at 11 months.
DS2: crawled at 13 months, still isn't walking at 19 months (he's hypermobile so has very bendy joints but is getting there... slooooooowwwwly! )

SmokedMackerel · 23/08/2013 19:06

Can't really remember tbh. I think commando crawling at about ten months and proper crawling just before first birthday. Walking not until almost twenty months.

Second, can't remember with the crawling, she did a funny bum shuffle crawl thing for a while before she gotthe hhang of it. Think around ten months too though. Walking at sixteen months.

Neither of them are particularly physical or sporty!

Hulababy · 23/08/2013 19:08

Dd crawled briefly at 8.5 months and walked at 10 months. She was cruising using hands at 5 months an furniture at 6 months - always prefered being upright. Never really got on with crawling at all.

yourcruisedirector · 23/08/2013 19:08

You needn't worry, particularly as not all babies crawl. DD crawled at 5.5 months and walked at 9 months. She had no sense and it was a trying time, but she's extremely physically capable now at 18 months, so it was worth it!

chickabilla · 23/08/2013 19:09

DS1 crawled at 9.5 months, walked at 13.5 months;
DS2 crawled at 11 months, walked at 17 months

cupoftchai · 23/08/2013 19:11

crawling 6.5 months, walking 11.5 months. now running and climbing! (or trying to hurl herself off high things) but no clear words yet, so i subscribe to that 'walkers or talkers' bit of folk psychology. (15 months now)

LowLevelWhinging · 23/08/2013 19:11

DD has only just started crawling at 14mo. But she started cruising and walking (holding a hand) on the same day.

Can't remember DCs 1 and 2 Blush

Ds1 crawling at 10 months. Walking at 12-13 months.

Dd1 still not quite crawling at 10 months, altho she was 8 wks prem so am expecting her to take a little longer

RawCoconutMacaroon · 23/08/2013 19:23

Ds1, walked at 10.5months, only a week after crawling!

Ds2, walked at 9months 3weeks.

Ds3 walked at 10.5 months.

Ds4 cruised furniture at speed at about 8 months, but didn't walk until 13 months - extreme hypermobility in both ankles meant he couldn't walk until the muscles in his feet and legs strengthened. He crawled fairly late, maybe the loose joints also affected that. Now at 2.5 he is very agile and physical.

BeingMoreDog · 23/08/2013 19:23

DD crawled commando style at 13 months, and walked at 18 months.
DS is 9 months and not crawling yet.
I have lazy children

AnotherStitchInTime · 23/08/2013 19:27

Dd1 crawling at 8 months, walking at 12 months.

Dd2 crawled commando style at 6 months, full crawling 7 months, walking at 12.5 months.

CheungFun · 23/08/2013 19:28

DS started crawling at 6.5 months, pulled himself up at 8 months, and took his first steps a week after his 1st birthday.

They really are all different though, I know at least 3 babies who didn't walk until 16 months old, and one baby who didn't crawl until he'd had his 1st birthday.

mamij · 23/08/2013 19:31

DD1 crawled about 7 months, started cruising about 8 months and walked by 10 months.

DD2 crawled about 8 months, started cruising about 10 months and didn't walk until 16 months.

BackforGood · 23/08/2013 19:34

ds - crawling 9 months, walking 14 months
dd1 - can't remember crawling (was around 9 months ish though)- walking at 11months
dd2 - can't remember crawling (see above) walking at 12months.

However - God-daughter.... never crawled. Walked at 26 months. Grin. Was a bum shuffler. Nothing wrong with her physically at all - just not motivated. Apparently both her Mum and Aunt had been late walkers (22months and 24months) so everyone was quite laid back about it. She was great at jigsaws though Wink

debbie1412 · 23/08/2013 19:35

So glad you posted this. Ds crawled at 8 months walked at 10.5 months. Dd 9.5 months just sits there. Watching this thread with interest !

IShallCallYouSquishy · 23/08/2013 19:37

DS starting crawling at 9.5 months, is just shy of 15 months now and has done a few sets of 4-6 steps over past couple days Smile

dogindisguise · 23/08/2013 19:41

DS crawled at 9 months, took a few steps at 15m but didn't walk properly until 17 months. I wouldn't worry.

jaggythistle · 23/08/2013 20:38

DC 1 tummy crawled commando style from 7 months to nearly a year, then proper crawled just before age 1, walked at 13 months.

No 2 crawled at 8 months and started wobbly walking at 10.5 months. My face >Shock

blushingmare · 23/08/2013 22:09

DD crawled at 11 months.
Is now 14 months and an expert crawler, but not walking or even close to walking yet.

No there's absolutely no need for you to worry. I'm a paeds physio and your DS is completely within normal limits.

Enjoy the fact that he's not too mobile yet. It's much easier to manage them when crawling and walking when they're a bit older and therefore have more understanding (of the word no, for example Wink)
