Help please, should I call the police?!

Hi all,
Just gone upstairs and saw my neighbour opposite me leaving her house to go out she was all dressed up an left in a taxi. Problem is she has a one year old dd who I strongly suspect is inside the house alone as girl has no friends and family in this country apart from her boyfriend whom I imagine she has gone to meet. Daughters bedroom light was on and she drew the curtains as I've noticed she usually does at the same time my lo's go to bed, all the lights are now off. I know I sound like a nosey neighbour but I'm not, although I am very worried, what should I do?

It doesn't matter what time or day it is the police would respond as quickly as possible to a call in regards to an abandond child.

They wouldn't be happy if they knocked on the door and a babysitter opened it though!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 20/07/2013 22:47

I'm sure the police would be relieved there was a babysitter when they turned up rather than the alternative.

GameSetAndMatch · 20/07/2013 22:48

OP where are you? have you done it yet? and do it before this woman returns!

please, were all on tenderhooks here and i want to go to bed!

This is probably a wind them up and watch it go thread ladies !

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 20/07/2013 22:51

I think this is very presumptuous of the OP. There could be a babysitter in there!

hernow · 20/07/2013 22:56

OP probably just busy and knows we all waiting!

BeaWheesht · 20/07/2013 23:00

How strange surely you'd knock first?

NeedSomeSun142 · 20/07/2013 23:07

OP said all lights are off, surely a babysitter would not sit in the dark?!

WeAreEternal · 20/07/2013 23:15

There must be more back story to this as the first assumption would not be 'she has gone out and left the baby alone'.

She could have a babysitter who is staying the night and has gone to bed. The sitter could be in a room that is not facing the OPs house. The sitter could be watching a movie in the dark.

The neighbour could have a friend that you don't know, (I'm not sure how you know she had no friends at all) and the friend could have the baby.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/07/2013 23:15

Unless you saw her at the window with the baby immediately before closing the curtains then there is always the possibility that she had taken the baby to stay overnight somewhere first. I have done that before, then gone in my son's room to put clean washing away (light on) and then closed the curtains.

RobotBananas · 20/07/2013 23:17

Did you ring 101? I think I'd have knocked on first..

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/07/2013 23:17

The boyfriend could be babysitting in a back room too. Do you have reason to think the worst?

InTheRedCorner · 20/07/2013 23:19
Hmm
kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/07/2013 23:22

What was the outcome?

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 20/07/2013 23:30

Bizarre.

I'd knock first, but that's me.

Wishfulmakeupping · 21/07/2013 05:28

What happened? Update?

MrsAFlowerpot · 21/07/2013 08:42

Any update?

phantomhairpuller · 21/07/2013 09:53

I guessing either no-one was at house at all or babysitter answered the door.

OP is feeling a bit of a plonker?

Maybe?
