Hi all,
Just gone upstairs and saw my neighbour opposite me leaving her house to go out she was all dressed up an left in a taxi. Problem is she has a one year old dd who I strongly suspect is inside the house alone as girl has no friends and family in this country apart from her boyfriend whom I imagine she has gone to meet. Daughters bedroom light was on and she drew the curtains as I've noticed she usually does at the same time my lo's go to bed, all the lights are now off. I know I sound like a nosey neighbour but I'm not, although I am very worried, what should I do?

OP posts:

I would definitely knock on the door before telling the police, if it is a misunderstanding I'm sure it would be quite upsetting for her that you had assumed she was grossly neglecting her baby. On the other hand if no one answers deffo call the police because that's what is most important!

GameSetAndMatch · 20/07/2013 22:08

yes but if OP saqw neighbour put her childs light on then draw curtains that implies that there IS a child in house.

call 101 NOW

ExcuseTypos · 20/07/2013 22:09

I'd knock on the door too. Unless you know her every move OP, how do ou know the woman doesn't have a single friend or that there isn't someone else in the house?

just go and knock first, if theres a babysitter there its better not to waste police time

NancyOsbourne · 20/07/2013 22:13

I hope all is well??

lunar1 · 20/07/2013 22:15

Hope everything is ok

MortifiedAdams · 20/07/2013 22:16

I would knock. If no response, then 101.

Rascal79 · 20/07/2013 22:20

What's happening? X

crazyhamsterdisguisedasapanda · 20/07/2013 22:25

Id certainly knock first

PoppyAmex · 20/07/2013 22:27

You said she has a boyfriend so the child could be with him, his friends or with his family, surely?

I think you're making a huge assumption based on very little data.

Hashtagwhatever · 20/07/2013 22:28

Can't see why you wouldn't knock first.

NachoAddict · 20/07/2013 22:29

I would knock too Nd then call the police but baby could be with its paternal family.

ballroomblitz · 20/07/2013 22:29

I would draw curtains as normal in the kids room even if they weren't there. Strange not to knock the door first.

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 20/07/2013 22:30

What happened next?

Northumberlandlass · 20/07/2013 22:32

Did you go & knock OP?

Ifcatshadthumbs · 20/07/2013 22:33

I think it would be sensible to knock on the door first.

InTheRedCorner · 20/07/2013 22:33

I always draw curtain even if DC aren't here.

Why haven't you knocked first?

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 20/07/2013 22:37

It's Saturday night, guys, the police probably won't turn up till tomorrow...

morethanpotatoprints · 20/07/2013 22:38

I'd knock with a pretence of borrowing some sugar if anybody answered.
but its getting late now, so i'd hurry.
If no reply, call Police.

NeedSomeSun142 · 20/07/2013 22:41

Surely if there's a child left in the house alone the police will not wait till tomorrow ?!

Rulesgirl · 20/07/2013 22:42

I do hope that the op did knock first instead of jumping to conclusions. And Im sure the police would come even though Sat nights is there busiest and unfortunately they don't employ many police anymore.

Rascal79 · 20/07/2013 22:42

The police will grade it as a priority no matter what day it is

BrianTheMole · 20/07/2013 22:45

Not true at all. They will turn up asap. What did you do op?
