Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Im lazy and leave them in, the cold rinse I do first gets rhem out. But, I think ill pull 'em out first as some stay in. I should fasten tge velcro in the wraps too.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 08/12/2012 14:39

I have an xl wetbag that lives downstairs, the night nappies get bunged in the bedroom laundry basket. I have a bin and mesh bags in the baby's room but that's more of a storage area at the moment tbh.

I wash at 40* and am a slattern bung everything in together Xmas Blush

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 16:34

notgrown thank you for your patience.

BFG all the inserts are interchangeable. I use a microfibre on its own in the day, and if on a longer trip, or wanting it overnight, I am boosting with a bamboo booster. I like the LL ones, but I guess they are all the same. I have not tried the actual bamboo nappies, or the leg warmers or leggings, so I am keen to see what you think.

blue have you tried a fleece liner? Do lollipops have a built in fleece bit? It can help protect their little bottoms from wetness. I take the inserts out as I wash them daily but the pockets alternate days as they take different times to dry. You can put them all in the machine together, but I prefer to rinse out the poo first.

I wash at 40. I wash towels with them if I have any, but could not wash clothes with them as I like my softener. If I have pooey clothes they go through with the nappies, then again with the regular wash.

I use a bucket but have bags.

J is improving each day, thank The Lord. Still coughing but nowhere near as bad. He is getting more smiley too which is lovely.

I use fleece liners as well. I must admit today I didn't feel the fluffy love... :( maybe it's just because I'm tired and DD3 seems to be having a growth spurt and feeding constantly and not wanting to be put down... It all seemed so much fun before she was born, buying all the nappies and looking for bargains. Now it just seems a lot of work, washing, drying, stuffing...
Please tell me it will get better.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 08/12/2012 21:07

It has to, Blue, or you wouldn't have got as far as dd3 Xmas Wink

Dp puts the nappy wash on when he gets up for work, then i hang it out later while ds naps. Would that work for you?

Bluetinkerbell · 08/12/2012 21:13

I've put my first nappy wash on tonight, and just put them up to dry. But must admit she's in a disposable at the moment.
I told DH I didn't feel the love for reusables and he said well we've got them now so better use them... Maybe I will feel more positive about them tomorrow.

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 21:24

blue I find it is easier than washing the shit out of baby gros and bedding when the disposables leak right up their backs. Also easier than treating the horrid nappy rash that you can get with disposables. It is nicer in the summer seeing them on the line, and I find it helps to have a few pretty ones (shallow) when it is really hard, I have a little holiday, but soon miss them. I also find it helpful mentally adding up 15p per nappy used, as that is the saving roughly. Also wipes if you use washable ones, plus the creams... It is a lot honest.

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 21:26

When the kids are ill, I use disposables, but at the moment with J ill, I really wanted to keep him in them. DD2 is in disposables though temporarily as I could not cope with washing hers too. Except at night as there is not a disposable made that can contain her pee.

Bluetinkerbell · 08/12/2012 21:30

VQ yes I do use reusable wipes, which I love, I've been using them for DD1 since September. So I might need done time to get used to the nappies. Maybe it's just because it is all new and I'm so used to disposables. They seem like the easy option.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 08/12/2012 21:34

VQ that small person of yours needs to be back to normal first before there's any fudge shenanigans going in :)

Blue, sounds like you need a brew and some time out on your own. Even if its for an hour whilst baba's asleep and everyone else is in bed ir wherever. Rant at us if you want, about anything!

Ds2 has today discovered how to climb on the sofa and ds1's chair. He's gonna be one to watch I think. I need more eyes. His bum rash is bleeding, he gets alot of rashes and Ive been using dufferent detergents so its not that or the bath stuff. He does have eczema on his arms and round his eyes and mouth, might be that but getting aggrevated by his toddler topics and wee.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 08/12/2012 21:36

Huggies cease in the new year too.

LeBFG · 09/12/2012 06:53

Blue, it takes a while to get used to the fluff fit and develop a routine around nappy changing etc. I found in the early days it was easier with poo because so often after a nappy change DS would have a poo - all I needed to do with the fluff was change the liner (sometimes it would spill onto the nappy and I'd be swearing!) rather than throwing a perfect good but pooey sposie away.

But I didn't use them very early on when I was overwhelmed with it all and always had some sposies handy just in case the nappies weren't dry/couldn't be bothered. I took the attitude the more fluff the better, but it doesn't have to be exclusive. If you're only washing 10 nappies in 2 days it may seem less overwhelming?

Agree - buying is much more fun! No one seems to appreciate the effort I go to to have nice, lovely, clean nappies [grrr].

Bluetinkerbell · 09/12/2012 14:11

Feeling a bit more positive today! Like you said the more fluff the better!
It is indeed slightly overwhelming and we don't really have any routines in place atm...
But she's in fluff today! :)

ValiumQueen · 09/12/2012 15:38

notgrown poor little bottom Sad

blue well done Grin

DD2 is vomming everywhere and has a high temp. Not impressed.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 09/12/2012 15:46

The only routine worth having (in my asylum anyway) is one for sleep. Wink

You sound alot better today blue. Did you manage any sleep?

VQ, thanks. Ive mixed Daktacourt and Vaseline and slapped it on, seems to be working. Bloody Bear Grylls in training. Hows J today?

Im on my first period in 2 years and had been using fannypads that I had left over from birth and im in bits. Me poor bits are really sore, I think im having some reaction to the gel/plastic in. Ouch! Have now chucked them.

Has anyone bothered getting dressed today? It shouldn't be allowed in Sunday!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 09/12/2012 15:47

No way, just re-read! Dd2! No!! Is that the senior wearer of fluff?

ValiumQueen · 09/12/2012 16:09

It is. Not impressed at all. J seems a bit brighter but it is still vomming after milk a couple of times a day. Seems it might be another sodding bug with DD as she has a high temp. Please Lord DS will not get that too

Notgrownupinmyhead · 09/12/2012 16:24

Double shit. Have you got enough handgel? Confused

LeBFG · 09/12/2012 17:47

Poor DD2 VQ and poor old you - one thing after the next. Hope she starts feeling better soon. Really hope J is spared. Can you keep them apart a bit? We've yet to experience D&V in our household. Be, erm, interesting when it does come...

Notgrownup - you could always buy the reususable pads Grin - what did we christen them again?

Bluetinkerbell · 09/12/2012 17:57

Yes managed a bit more sleep. Went to bed at 10.30pm and L's first feed was 2.30am! :) and then 5ish I think...
We're bedsharing, as I love having her close to cuddle she doesn't like being put down in her Moses basket...
Contemplating buying a bedside co sleeper cot if it fits in between my bed and the wall...

*VQv hope DD2 feels better soon!

LeBFG · 09/12/2012 18:07

Wow - you do have a well-trained baby Blue. Just when did mine lose the baby book? I'm planning the next will have mislayed it too - if she remembers it so much better!

Bluetinkerbell · 09/12/2012 19:37

During the day she feeds roughly every 2 hours though! And likes being held, so not a lot of time to do house work...
The sling is my friend! Although I woke up with terrible lower back pain today... :(
I should probably put her down more in her Moses basket though, just don't like her crying and I probably give in too quickly, but I'm just doing what I think is best, but not always easy.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 09/12/2012 19:44

Yikes, Blue, we're still 2-3 hourly over night! (20 days) luckily dp tries to have him on his chest for a few hours so i get some rest at least.

I got a mai tei from ebay for 99p today, the seller was local so we collected, they were lovely and we stayed for a cuppa and a chinwag! So i now have a sling collection to go with my fluff collection Xmas Grin

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 09/12/2012 20:05

Hello everyone, just checking in quickly as it's been a while - Sad about all the d&v and sore bums, and poor baby J, glad he's on the mend. And hello blue welcome, hope you're starting to love the fluff! Got to run but back soon for proper catch up I miss this thread when I don't have time to check it! Festive Wine for everyone!

Bluetinkerbell · 09/12/2012 20:12

purple I bet it was a one off though :)
The thing is the nights aren't too bad because I have her right next to me. DH is planning on sleeping in the spare bed though on the nights before he has to get up early for work... I don't mind, means more bed for me and Lotta :)
Should put her down now and wrap the Christmas presents to go under the tree...
