Yeah it seems to have come out- sort of. It was lovely newborn yellow poo, and runny. There's a kind of outline of the poo stain but its not yellow so that's good. I managed to get it in the machine within minutes of explosion so I think I may have saved it Smile

Baby sicked on mingerdog the other day. She was well chuffed :o (dog not baby)

Sabih · 12/01/2013 16:15

Oops name change fail

KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 16:17

Ha ha brilliant on both counts!! We found a blood stain on the couch this morning from one of many blood blisters dh gets.

Grin mingerdog

KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 17:14

Heehee :o I may well change her name to Miss Skanktastic Mingerdog (Ming for short). Roxanne is waaay too pretty for one so disgusting. Dh accidentally gave her a tot of single malt last night. I swear she will consume anything. She even licked dh's nasty smelly hobbit feet. Hmm

NappyHappy · 12/01/2013 17:40

Skanktastic is better. Dh's is called Leela or Woo, when she howls that's the noise she makes. Bell end.

KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 18:02

You should call her Bell-end-a :o

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 12/01/2013 19:37

Hi Buffy it's never to late to try cloth Grin I started when DD was 11 months. I'd look at the Nappy Lady website, she can give you really detailed advice if you fill in her questionnaire and has lots of articles about types of nappies, washing them etc. I also did the "try cloth for £10" trial from Fill Your Pants which was great for trying out different types of nappy. I thought I'd want AIOs but end up with a mix and actually prefer my fitteds (bumbles from easy peasy nappies). You could also get some cheaply second hand to try out, I just found a website where people seem to be selling quite cheaply, thenappysite.co.uk. Definitely get a few different kinds to try rather than buying a load of one kind upfront. Never tried bambinex so no thoughts on those sorry! Except that bamboo is v absorbent but also v slow to dry so that might be a factor.

KFC and NH your dogs are disgusting !! Grin always been a cat person myself but dh claims to be allergic to them, huh.

PurplePidjin · 12/01/2013 19:53

I have a bambinex teddy, didn't get on with it - iirc it's on it's way to kfc! Love how fluffy they are, I'd love it as the outer bit of a wrap!

KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 20:18

Biscuit I prefer cats too but dh wont let me get another one. My lovely puss disappeared a few months ago and I was devastated. I had him from birth (had his mum too but had to re-home her cos she got a bit funny with the kids) and I cried like a baby. Dh says we shouldn't get another one in case it upsets the dog Hmm She wasnt bothered by my boy but I think that may be cos we had him first so she didn't know any different. I still want a new kitten to squeee over Sad

NappyHappy · 12/01/2013 20:33

I am a cat person. I used to have a black one called Neo but she ran away when Bellenda joined us from his exes. I had 6 cats at once many moons ago, I was crazy cat lady!!

Bamboo is great for night, they are the only nappies that go in the dryer, the rest go one the super maiden I've got Grin

KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 20:48

Mine was called Rambo. Dh said "if we must keep the damn thing it should at least have a cool name so I don't feel like a tit when I talk about it". He was black too. I've had 6 cats all together and they've all been black.

Have you tried Bambooty? Their all in ones are fab.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 12/01/2013 21:00

KFC so Sad for your cat. When my parents' cat died a couple of years ago it was awful. love the name Rambo though!

I've just bouught 2 bamboo fitteds 2nd hand from the nappy site, bambeasy they're called, a bamboo version of my beloved bumble. Going to at least give it a go at night too.. Tho DD has ramped up her night feeding lately so it could be a challenge. I think the Teddy is a microfibre one isn't it??

PurplePidjin · 12/01/2013 21:20

It was beautifully fluffy but not absorbent in the right place for my front sleeping boy :) As with most of mine, it was part of a bundle picked up pl to see what suits us!

Ditto Sandys, which so many people swear by. The Rikkis aren't really working with prefolds now, I'm slowly working through the rest of the wraps as we only use one nappy per night :o

OP posts:
KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 21:39

bambooty have a peek. They're a bit luvverly Smile

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 12/01/2013 21:58

Another thing for Buffy - if you're using nappy cream with real nappies I think it's best to use a paper liner to stop the nappy soaking up the cream. My DD definitely has less frequent nappy rash since we switched. I use paper liners with a bit of cream on her bottom at every change, but not everyone uses nappy cream with cloth - if you don't, you can use fleece liners instead of paper.

Is that right fellow fluff lovers?!

NappyHappy · 12/01/2013 22:46

How is the little peach pp? And dp? Is he sleeping in his moses basket any better?

Biscuit, Im not an everyday cream user either but only if needed. New boy's bum ATM looks really sore as he has been randomly pooping at various times when he's asleep. Been slapping the Metanium on at night time and Bepanthen mixed with Vaseline during the day along with bum out time since he's had it. He doesn't seem bothered by it but I am! Oh, and using DG fleece liners. Should really use paper but not really bothered about the fleece getting stained. I will however look at your choice of bamboo-age Grin .

When any of you were younger did you used to put 'age' at the end of words?

What kind of things do you make KFC?

Can't wait tho get to the sorting office and pick up ma sturf. Grin

KentuckyFriedChildren · 12/01/2013 23:09

Bibs, bags, hats, blankets, quilts, cot bumpers, curtains, cushions, lampshades, have done a few cosytoes, clothes, soft toys. Um probably forgetting a few things. I haven't tried nappies yet though :o I used to make wedding/evening dresses but they are so time consuming and complicated I just don't have the time or the inclination any more. I can make 20 bags in the time it takes to knock up a simple evening dress so even though the dress sells for more, I don't get many requests for them so it's not worth it. When I did them before I was making them for a company so I didn't need to source clients etc myself. Baby stuff always sells well- there are so many place you can market and so many potential customers. Much easier to make a steady income. I don't make too many baby clothes though, mostly have made for my own in the past then been asked by people at baby groups etc to make something for them, but it can be quite fiddly, so I prefer to do dresses/pinafores as they can be simplified to accommodate the smaller sizing. I am working on a few sling designs atm and still have a change bag design I havent tried yet so I might do that next. It zips all the way so it folds out like a filofax and inside has a flip out change mat (that zips off) and individual pockets for everything you need. I need to design a fluffy version though as that one was designed with sposies in mind since most people use them. Fluffies take up more room so I'd need to change the design slightly to accomodate them. I love my work :o

BuffyFairyTopsTheTree · 12/01/2013 23:31

Thank you so much for all the replies Thanks

Dd does feed a lot at night and still does plenty of loose poos but not quite so many explosions! Every cold and new tooth results in nappy rash, poor thing. Appreciate the advice regarding cream. I tend to use a zinc one with a rash and a daily one when she's free.

I'll check out The Nappy Lady and Fill Your Pants sites tomorrow and have a proper read through the threads.

Ooh excited Grin

LeBFG · 13/01/2013 09:31

KFC you're my new favorite poster. I would loooove to be able to create all those things. My accomplishements stretch only to v v v easy baby sun hats and v simple trousers/skirts. I try and buy cheap second hand clothes for the material but always end up buying men's clothes cos otherwise there isn't enough material to chop up. Any ideas on cheap fabric?

NappyHappy · 13/01/2013 09:56

EBay. I've just bought some scrap bundles for a few quid each and there are about 100 x4 inch pieces in one of them.

What's thy online shop called KFC?

PurplePidjin · 13/01/2013 12:14

Since we got home after all the drama, he's been sleeping in his crib full time! I have The Best Newborn In The World at night, he sleeps 9-1, 2-4 + 5-7:30/8 consistently Shock It won't last but I'm enjoying it for now :o

I thought Metanium was best with cloth because it doesn't clog the fibres? Or stuff like CJ's. We haven't had nappy rash yet so i haven't had cause to test it. I was an information sponge in pregnancy though Hmm

KentuckyFriedChildren · 13/01/2013 13:48

cheap fabrics the clue is in the name :o but they don't do pul or minky which I use for alot of things.
abakhan do a good range but it's hit or miss on price but they also do hobby supplies for knitting, crochet etc.
remnanthouse is good if you want to find something a little different but again can be hit or miss on price.
There are loads of good fabric sites you just need to type in cheap fabric to google Smile I dont know if any of them ship to europe though.

I dont have a website. I did have a facebook site which I shut down when I got pregnant as I tend to have awful pregnancies and I couldn't work. It was called lunachild boutique (my surname means child of the moon). Once I have a new stock in I will re-do it. I was getting requests that I couldn't fulfil. Have you tried bandana bibs? They are easy and cheap to make. I'll look for an online tutorial for you. They sell well too. Favourite poster Blush you charmer you!

KentuckyFriedChildren · 13/01/2013 13:51

how to make a bandana bib this guide looks pretty simple Smile

NappyHappy · 13/01/2013 14:53

Check you out PP!!!!!!!!! We're in month 4 and Hus sleeping patterns have barely changed since 6weeks so R may just carry on. Hope So. (insert pp proud mummy face here)

Abakhan is about 10miles away from me, not been for ages.

I'm going to start off making stuff for the kids first, product testersGrin Grin

Bandana bibs are great ds3 has a few.

Is it possible to have a velcro 4 yr old? Leave me alone!!! He follows me everywhere and won't play in his room unless I'm upstairs 'keep me safe mummy'.

Did anyone watch 16 kids and counting?
