Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi, Peanut. I converted dp to the idea with simple mathematics - I've got nappies birth to potty (second hand) for around £100 compared with around £4-500 per year for Pampers.

The easiest are pocket and all in one types with velcro. You shove something absorbent down the middle (that bit's separate for pockets, sewn on at one end for all in ones) then put it on like a disposable. Overnight we use a 2 part system - nappy shaped thing made of terry type stuff with a waterproof wrap over the top. Dp copes fine with all types as long as he doesn't have to use a nappy nippa Xmas Grin

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 24/12/2012 13:55

PS the only time we've had wee/poo on clothes (ds is 5 weeks, in cloth since day 5) is when the nappy hasn't been put on right. Far less than the average with disposables!

LeBFG · 24/12/2012 15:01

Oh, yes, Biscuit, I modify clothes and make little easy things. I made my bf pillow which I've just unstuffed, washed and sewn back together for DD's bag Xmas Smile. It's pink, so more appropriate for DD than it was for DS. Though, in fact, most of DD's clothes will be DS's cast-offs...

I can't believe how quickly the weeks are ticking by Pidj. The birth must seem a distant memory in the face of newborn care and feeding. Is bf going well? I've forgotten, are you co-sleeping?

Everyone and their mothers will be drinking champagne and stuffing oysters this evening....except me Xmas Sad x 10. Looking forward to DS opening pressies tomorrow morning though!!!!

Happy fluffy Christmas to all and one.

Bf going well, and despite my high-minded ideas of ds sleeping in his crib it just ain't happening Xmas Sad the only way to get him to would be to leave him in there to scream, which seems barbaric so he sleeps on me for the first bit then next to dp (insomniac)

I might have a sneaky glass of bubbles tonight. We do Christmas dinner with my (local) family on Christmas Eve, brunch and pressies Christmas morning then up to the in laws for a late lunch. That way we don't have to choose who to see.

Merry fluffmas Xmas Grin

Notgrownupinmyhead · 24/12/2012 17:26

Pidj, thats the only way ds1 would sleep then one day when he was about 4m i put him in his moses basket awake and he fell asleep.

Ds2 was alot older than that before he sorted the self sleeping thing.

Its nowt that cant be sorted when you're both ready. Grin

Hi Peanut! Smile

I braved the Trafford Centre today with all 3. Wasnt that bad and treated myself to some Border Biscuits.

Im no longer a regular drinker but have some Crabbies!! It was this time last year I had a bottle of the stuff!!

Happy Fluffmas !! Xxxx

KentuckyFriedChildren · 24/12/2012 20:48

Hello again! How is everybody?? I am so tired. Nothing to do with squish, mind, she's sleeping through (already!!) but because yesterday i was playing tea maid to a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds. It was dd1s birthday and we had a wee party. I have spent the morning trying to extricate CHEESE from the kitchen floor Hmm Ah but they enjoyed it. They had a tea party with her plastic tea set which was vv cute :) Been down to tesco to get some xmas eve bargains but there was absolutely nothing. I live v far from it and walked there so am pissed off as it meant a taxi back as it was dark and there are no lights on the road for the last 4 miles. Dcs have been high as kites today and so has the dog so the house is trashed and everything is covered in dog hair after i hoovered the entire house TWICE yesterday Angry Squish is great though, nearly 7lb! might be able to buy more fluff soon as she'll start to actually fit in them :o

Notgrownupinmyhead · 24/12/2012 22:35

Hi KFC, I was wondering where you were. How old is the new fluff monster?

Dh and I opened our pressure tonight cos he is working tomorrow watching over the good people of Manchester. Mum is plating him up some dinner so he can take it in the day after.

Extracating cheese? What happened? I did that with what I think was chocolate the day before but out of carpet.

Ds3 has now dropped off and pressure set out for the boys.

Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!!!

KentuckyFriedChildren · 24/12/2012 23:36

She will be 6 weeks on fri. Not entirely sure what happened with the cheese though i think one of dds friends may have been trying to "make a cake" :o I cut the cheese into hearts with a cookie cutter and i think this may have contributed to the squashing of said cheese. This little girl also left covered in icing from a cake she never actually ate Confused I am amazed that the dog didnt clean up the cheese for me tbh. She ate everything else that was stuck to the floor. I am really looking forward to tomorrow. I cant wait to see their wee faces when they come down to a mountain of presents may have gone a wee bit overboard My best friend is on her way over for a glass of wine just now. Havent seen her in weeks despite the fact that she lives about 400 feet away and I am really quite excited!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 25/12/2012 12:00

Grin Grin we share the same style of mess! And cleaner upperer!! Wink Wink

Playing on my new toy whilst there is chaos all around!!!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 25/12/2012 13:04

Ds peed on his green stars (and daddy) so is in purple stars as his christmas fluff. What's everyone else got? or am I the only sad cow that does this

Notgrownupinmyhead · 25/12/2012 20:30

Just the ones that I posted the other day. gotta have Xmas fluff!! Grin Mum and Nan (who is 95) thought they were great. Ds2 wears the cosmic print Totsbots in the day and Ds3 in the Alvas.

Mmmmmmm selection box time!!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 25/12/2012 21:30

My Gran (91) is very jealous of all the pretty prints and fast drying fabrics

My mum (63) likes my minky spots (hip hip baby realeasy) best

Dnephew (5) insists his little cousin wears dinosaurs or a green one. Dsil had dniece (7) in nature babies but she'd been dx with ASD by the time her db arrived so dsil had to go to sposies (dniece isn't pt yet and is unlikely to in the foreseeable future)

Dp likes the minky but has a fondness for the Rikki wraps, particularly pandas, and the cheapy cows.

I like ones that don't leak wee on me mid feed Xmas Wink

Notgrownupinmyhead · 25/12/2012 22:47

Yay for old Nanas!! Ooh, they weren't like that in my day!!

How is your Dn? Did she have a nice day? Does she love her new baby (they'd be cousins wouldn't they?)

Sounds like everyone has had a fab day!!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 26/12/2012 00:09

Dniece (the 7yo with autism) doesn't quite know what to make of him, dnephew (5) is fascinated and desperate to play games, share toys etc. Yes, first cousins

Notgrownupinmyhead · 26/12/2012 09:16

Kids are ace. I'd have more if we had room, money etc.

How is everyone feeling this morning? Ds2 is banging his head so I better get him up, ds3 is still asleep from 10pm, y.day must've taken it out of him being fussed over by little Nana and ds1 is at my mums.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:30

Not caught up yet. Marking place. Tired. Used disposables over Christmas and feeling bad as DS has a sore bum.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 28/12/2012 09:48

I'm a bit in and out atm VQ, dp had a stroke yesterday so everythings a bit what the fuck at the moment. Staying with MIL who kindly hung out the nappies I washed last night but not sure how sustainable it'll be if he's in for long

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:52

PP fuck! I do hope DP is ok. I would use disposables until you are more settled. Honest, if it makes life a bit easier...

Notgrownupinmyhead · 28/12/2012 11:50

Shit PP!!!! I hope he's OK. Fingers crossed you'll both be home very soon. We'll be thinking of you. X

Hi VQ. Hope alls well in your camp too. Grin

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 28/12/2012 12:15

It's actually easier to wash than go to the shop to buy! I've got half a pack of pampers left over from the early days just in case.

Did manage to wash them on 90 though so might have no choice

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 14:07

I was going to moan, but after hearing PP s news, I am grateful all I have to worry about is a baby that will not sleep. The cough is still hanging on and at 9 weeks we are doing well to get 2 hours. The girls slept through at 6 and 7 weeks, so I should be grateful.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 28/12/2012 21:41

Something I've learned:

Other people's problems don't lessen the impact of your on you.

Moan away!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 28/12/2012 22:26

And, it takes you out of the situation for a few minutes. How is he? Are you OK? Hopefully he'll be as right as rain in the next few days.

A thread I started has made it on the MN FB page! Random stuff your kid eats.

Dirty bugger was pissing about with a bottle of baby powder and squeezed the bottle then ended up filling his mouth with it. Puke everywhere. He had 3 lots of cow juice through the night bless him and the baby monitor next to his cot.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 29/12/2012 04:14

Excellent, NotGrown :o I've got one in Classics about a dead cat if you need a giggle. Am on phone so can't link
