When do I tell anyone passing my car that my baby is now a child?!

Odd question - at what age do I change the 'baby on board' sign in my car to the 'child on board' side?

DS is 18 months. He'll always be my baby, obviously! Smile

When you see a nice child on board sign Wink

QuintessentialShadows · 29/05/2012 14:20

When you realize other motorists have better things to do than reading stickers and boards in cars.

Emergency services will always be trained to look for babies and children anyway.

Why do you need a sign? Confused

These are the daftest things I've ever seen. It doesn't affect how I drive my car when I'm out and about if I see one of those 'baby on board' signs. So what if you have a baby on board. Why would anyone really care, tbh????

lovechoc · 29/05/2012 14:26

These signs are nothing but a distraction for motorists and should be banned.

FunnyLovesTheJubilee · 29/05/2012 14:27

yes, why do you need one? I have 2 DC and have never had one.

5inthebed · 29/05/2012 14:27
Confused

Just get rid of it altogether. There is no need for them.

TheOneWithTheHair · 29/05/2012 14:29

You put them in your car to let emergency services know there is a child on board in case of accident or emergency. Waste of time now there are so many jokey ones and people who don't take them down when there is no child in the car.

DeepPurple · 29/05/2012 14:40

The emergency services do not pay any attention to them. In case of an emergency they would check how many are in the car, not rely on a sign.

DaisySteiner · 29/05/2012 14:43

Just get rid of it. Do you really think they have any safety benefits?!

valiumredhead · 29/05/2012 15:06

Just get rid of it!

5madthings · 29/05/2012 15:09

we have never had one of these, pointless, the emergency services will always check for children, carseats etc anyway!

valiumredhead · 29/05/2012 15:10

Is that what they are for 5mad? I always saw them as a bit of a boasty thing.

5madthings · 29/05/2012 15:12

i think that is what they were for origionally but now there are puke worthy ones that say 'little princess on board' etc etc, dont see the point myself!

5madthings · 29/05/2012 15:13

i could make one saying '5madthings on board' Grin

Janoschi · 29/05/2012 16:09

Don't have one either and they really annoy me. As if I'd drive like a loony until I realised there was a PFB in the car in front, when suddenly I'd see the error of my ways. Find them smug and insulting in equal measure. And tacky beyond belief.

TheQueenOfSheba · 29/05/2012 16:12

Why do you need a sign?

To alert other other drivers to the fact that there is probably a harassed and distracted parent on board, so beware of their driving Grin

FaceForRadio · 29/05/2012 16:15

OP it's entirely your choice whether or not to display a sign saying that you have a baby/child on board.

And it's your choice what it says too.

Don't worry about the haterz Grin you do what you feel is right.

tittytittyhanghang · 29/05/2012 16:18

Why shouldnae the OP have one? And as a driver, if a sign like this distracts you, then it's probably the driver than needs banned, not the sign!

18 months is still a baby imo nothing to do with ds2 being 17months and toooooo young to be a child :)

Herrena · 29/05/2012 16:31

I ALWAYS say this to DH when we pass those things on the road!! Grin

I've often wondered what I would do if I was in the hypothetical situation where I was inevitably going to crash and had to choose either to crash into a car with a 'Baby on board' sticker or a car that didn't have one. TBH I think I would actually try to avoid the stickered car, so there you go....

valiumredhead · 29/05/2012 16:32

My one would say "Stroppy 11 year old on board"

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 29/05/2012 16:39

Make your own sign that says "PFB on Board"

lovechoc · 29/05/2012 18:46

"Smug Parent on Board" more like...

GwendolineMaryLacey · 29/05/2012 19:16

I see the daggers are out again, par for the course these days. MN at its best Hmm

Let people do whatever the fuck they like. If a sign on the back of their car makes them happy then so what?

TheQueenOfSheba · 30/05/2012 04:43

"Shit driver on board"

(Not directed at OP specifically)
