potty/toilet training your child the piscine way
(no not in a swimming pool... though that would be easy come to think of it)

you will need:
antibacterial wipes 'n' spray

sweets [or rice cakes if franny or other lentul weaver]

a potty [or toilet])

care mats

spare pants

and cheapo joggers

watch this space*

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm in - ds2 is now 2.5 and I want to be nappy free.

When are you starting?

He starts playgroup 3 mornings a week next week, so wouldn't want to do it then - too much new stuff all in 1 go.

mirror plays a big role in our house because dd2 loves looking at herself in snow white knickers....

motherinferior · 05/01/2006 17:35

Nah, we did it Inferiorette#2's way...which is, shall we say, not always reliable.

How do their bladders hold so much?

bundle · 05/01/2006 17:38

dd1 looked even more excited than dd2 when dd2 managed yet another fabulous wee on the loo (ie lots of applause)

motherinferior · 05/01/2006 17:40

Our stairs were a waterfall yesterday.

xmasmcmudding · 05/01/2006 17:40

I'll try anything. Smart*rse ds 3.4 says he doesn't need to use the toilet because he's too busy.

If you can sort him then you're a genius.

bundle · 05/01/2006 17:41

lovely image

puff · 05/01/2006 18:04

I'll have to start Mon 16th.

FrannyandZooey · 06/01/2006 07:58

Hey I got a name check and didn't notice till now.

Sorry chaps, I am doing child-led potty training (i.e. I can't be arsed)

ladymuck · 06/01/2006 08:42

I'll give it a go. ds1 was done by this age. ds2 claims that the potty is too cold and he wants to keep his trousers on please.

Right...count me in (said in a quavering voice).
DD is 2.5 and currently wearing knickers around the house apart from naps. Wears pull-ups outside. Starting preschool Weds am and Fripm next week. So may try and dual-run for a while. Also have 16 week old baby...so bit tricky (excuses, excuses excuses).

harpsichordcarrier · 07/01/2006 15:29

franny lol at child led potty training
I was thrilled to see that I in fact did "baby led " weaning i.e. couldn;t be arsed to feed her, used to put in all on her tray and read the paper instead

xmasmcmudding · 07/01/2006 19:59

Hey now Cod! The boy is in pants! Has been since last March - he doesn't give a toss and tells me to wash them when he pisses in them.

I just leave him to stink now - he lies through his teeth even when there's a river flowing down his legs.

This is our only issue with him - when it comes to the toilet he's like Jekyll and Hyde.

Go on - solve it - you'll never do it
