Am I the only parent who does not go out drinking?

Or am I really boring? Every month or so there are mum's nights out and they get absolutely hammered. I mean they will start off with several shots before going on to the first pub, be out until the early hours then vomit several times.

Now, I did all of the above in my teenage years and early twenties and couldn't think of anything worse now.

I would feel bad on the kids coming home in such a state. I am starting to look like the boring mum who doesn't like a good time.

Is it just me?

No. you are allowed to get drunkish when you're in your twenties.

Anything after that is sad.

Cheeptrickortreat · 21/10/2011 12:11

Grin at TheBrideofFrankenstein - most of the women i worked with before having children were mid-aged and was better at drinking than me - i put it down to them having more experiance Wink

If there are no children around then its up to the person how drunk they want to get. I just hate it when i see children in pushchairs outside the pub with people smoking around them, swearing and getting pissed. Yes i judge the parents (based on my own childhood) Sad

My dc are 14 and 13 and I force them into a double buggy and swear and shout and get pissed all over em every Friday so they don't get uppity.

ShirleyKnot · 21/10/2011 12:15

Are you coming to the meet up BTP? Grin Grin Grin

Cheeptrickortreat · 21/10/2011 12:17

I have lost all respect for you hully - how could you do that Shock

Astronaut79 · 21/10/2011 12:17

I love going out and drinking. I love staying in and drinking. I hate being properly drunk, but it kind of creeps up on you doesn't it?

Sadly have doen very little of both since DS was born 2 years ago, because he's up at 6 every day and I wouldn't cope with him plus hangover the next day. Not to mention having to go to work after a hangover weekend.....

However, have managed to get in more nights out and drunkeness than DH, so I'm still winning [hwink]

Hullygully · 21/10/2011 12:17

I do it for them, cheep. It's all about the kidz, innit?

Cheeptrickortreat · 21/10/2011 12:19

At that age they should at least get their own buggies each Shock

rycooler · 21/10/2011 12:20

Er, I'm a middle-aged woman (42) I still go to clubs that don't open until 11.00pm and finish at 6.00am - I'll probably smoke dope before I get there but drink Evian all night. I'm not really into silly nights out with women dancing around their handbags to Abba - then falling over in their own vomit - classy!

I'm with you Matilda. Having been a party animal & heavy drinker during my 20s, have barely drunk at all since I had children - so for last 13 years! I am now so out of practice, that anything more than a few mouthfuls & I like a giggling schoolgirl (although they are probably far cooler than me!). Don't miss it at all & know that I look & feel alot better for not being a drinker any more.

MummyOfHnS · 21/10/2011 12:21

I don't drink at all since having my kids (almost 5 years now if you include my first pregnancy)
It's a personal choice and not one everyone understands, it's sadly quite unacceptable in society NOT to have a drink!
I bad more than my fair share of drunken nights out and in in my teens and early 20's to know it's not for me anymore. And I'm only 26 coming on 27! Smile

ShirleyKnot · 21/10/2011 12:22

Cheeptrickortreat · 21/10/2011 12:23

Even better off a babby, Reality. None of that shaven fuzz to trap the powder.

ShirleyKnot · 21/10/2011 12:27

I find it so incerdibly amusing to deride "middle aged women" getting pissed up while being one of those saddo middle aged women taking pot.

Wink

Only joking.

Oh FFS! Is this one of those threads where the cliquey types twirl off into unfunny nonsense? Is it?

Hullygully · 21/10/2011 12:32

I'm afraid it might be. But I can't remember because I'm on the weed, innit.

Cheeptrickortreat · 21/10/2011 12:48

Druzzzzz!

Mumsnet let such riffraff in - it wasn't like that in my day Wink

rycooler · 21/10/2011 12:53

It's not as sad as being off your head on booze at 40. Women should grow old gracefully - if you can't have a good time without making a tit of yourself in public stay at home. That's all I'm saying.
Learn how to handle alcohol, most of us have by 25.

Hullygully · 21/10/2011 12:58
