She is generally a cheery baby though - normally slow to cry and easy to soothe.

bluebear · 11/01/2004 23:08

Oh Oakie - your dd sounds just like my ds was - and still was until about a month ago - it took us (well, dh) a long time to realise that life had to be dictated by ds's routine and that life wasn't worth a thing if he wasn't in the buggy (wouldn't sleep anywhere else) at 12.30 sharp. Can only commiserate - ds seems to have turned a corner in the last month and is much easier to handle, even the tantrums are decreasing.
Pie - any effect from the increased dose yet? (No idea how long it would take). Thinking of you.
I've got my first 'counselling' session on Thurs.. very nervous.. no idea what to expect.
Tegan is loving her door bouncer... but today I made the mistake of putting her in it whilst ds was about - didn't realise that he would use her as a pendulum... and then try spinning her around until the strap was all twisted up. Did have a very cute moment when he sat on the floor with a leg either side of her so they were nose-to-nose, and then kissed her and chatted to her for a while.
She has less of a routine now than she did at 3 weeks... but luckily she doesn't seem to care, she doesn't sleep much during the day but is still sleeping okay at night (10pm onwards).
Have got major childcare hassles as nursery has only got 2 days for Tegan (ds goes 3 days) and I need 4 days for both of them.. nursery manager doesn't seem to think it's a problem..grrr.. now I've got to find a childminder/nanny for a couple of days a week (don't want to remove ds from nursery because of the social side) so life will get even more complicated.

Hello all again. We are pottering on quite well - how are all of you? Our exciting news is that Eleanor has slept from bedtime (20:00-21:00 ish) until 6am for the past 3 nights!!! Long may it last!

I have put some piccies on a webpage, if you want to check them out. They are here and the password is Amaris

Lovely lovely pictures Oakie, thank you for sharing them

Still no sleeping on my end, but I'm thinking its my medication so have been taking it at a different time, watch this space.

Thank you Pie. blushes. In fact (not wanting to rub it in) my darling daughter has been asleep now for about 2 hours - maybe I ought to go and wake her up? No - keep Mumsnetting... that's the thing!

How are you feeling? Is your medication helping at all? i will send your baby "sleep at night" vibes, shall I?

pie · 17/01/2004 16:37

I think the medication is helping, hard to tell though as I seem to have got a period, complete with PMS. So much for the b/f delaying their return.

Yes please to the sleep vibes though!

What lovely pictures Oakmaiden. She looks as though she is thriving

pupuce · 17/01/2004 18:23

Great piccies... she is a cutie and what a lovely dress indeed

Oakmaiden · 17/01/2004 18:52

Hee hee - I'm a sucker for pretty dresses. I'm SO glad it was a girl this time!

And thank you, John Lewis....

bluebear · 18/01/2004 22:23

gorgeous pictures Oakie, she's beautiful... Is that a pastel tots bots nappy? Dd wears them!

Oakmaiden · 18/01/2004 22:28

It is indeed.

She only has 2 pastel ones, and a few unbleached. The rest of the time she just wears boring terry squares. Although I have just placed an order with Ellas HOuse....

bluebear · 18/01/2004 22:36

Dd's colourful nappies really cheer me up ( what a confession), I only have yellow, orange and green (yummy pistachio colour), and use the white tots bots at night, would love lilac but can't justify the expense. I have only just put dd down in her cot - she's been sleeping in my arms since 8pm and waking every time I put her down.. she's got another cold, but now I have arms like a gibbon.

Oakmaiden · 19/01/2004 10:56

I got my pastel bots as seconds - just phoned Tots Bots and asked if they had any. And I justify unnecessary nappy buying to myself by thinking of the resale value.

Spod · 20/01/2004 15:06

oakmaiden..... you lucky lucky mummy... all that sleep.... my little one still only going max 6 hrs at night....not every night.....big bags under my eyes.........:-)

bluebear · 22/01/2004 12:50

Spod - we're having a relapse with the sleeping too.. hopefully due to dd's cold... 6 hours would be nice.. mainly getting 3-4 inbetween feeds... was walking into walls this morning I was so tired.

Oakie - I justified my new washables to dh on the grounds of their resale value (over 6 months there's no difference between cost of disposables and cotton and nursery won't use washables so she'll be out of them at 6 months).. that said I have a pile of cotton bottom prefolds/wraps that I should sell and haven't got round to yet... too too tired.

Pie - How are you feeling? Has the up-ed dose made any difference? Thinking of you.

pie · 23/01/2004 09:21

6 Hours!!!!!

On a good night I get 2.5. Oh well. I have horrid Mastitis, have to go into hospital tomorrow if it doesn't start to clear up...have a horrible cold too and the SPD is really BAD. Moan moan moan moan.

Have no idea if the increased ADs are working, feel like sh*t being ill.

pie · 23/01/2004 09:21

Thank you for asking though bluebear How are you doing?

pupuce · 23/01/2004 09:49

Pie- i still can't e-mail you but I got your e-mail this AM.

pie · 23/01/2004 09:51

#Oh pants...I'll check my hotmail

OP posts:
bluebear · 23/01/2004 12:20

Pie - OMG! Mastitus as well! ARGHH! You poor thing...
I think my ADs might be working a little too well.. dd hasn't put weight on for at least 2 weeks, she won't take a bottle, and I can't feed more often (at every 2 hours now, and doing best to make sure hindmilk is used)... have still not got childcare sorted for return to work... am living in building site still.... dh off to Germany for work trip next week.. ds has social problems and speech assessment was laughable as he refused to talk ......and I don't give a fig for any of it..just don't care
So either ADs too good, or a new stage of depression,

pie · 23/01/2004 12:23

Bluebear, I wouldn't worry about the weight gain, don't babies often plateau for a while? It sounds like you have loads going on, and I guess if you're 'coping' then the ADs are working. Do you feel like you are coping better? I'm still horribly moody.

OP posts:
bluebear · 23/01/2004 12:32

Forgot my happy pill Weds am and was screaming at ds by 4pm (he hadn't napped and was trying to stab the cats but I can normally cope with that sort of thing without resorting to screams), so I guess they do help me cope (scarey that they wear off so quickly but I am on an extremely low dose).
Not bothered about lack of weight gain... haven't taken her to clinic since she was 6 weeks old so no HV breathing down my neck... I should be more worked up about childcare and bottle refusal as I have to go back to work in April but can't find the energy to get upset.
What sort of moods are you getting? I can flip between 'What a wonderful world' to 'I want to die' but don't seem to have much in the middle... This worried my GP most as she thought I was highly likely to kill myself in a low mood, because I didn't think I would when I was in a high mood (Does that make any sense what-so-ever?)
Counsellor wanted me to descibe the 'women in my life'... hmmm... should I have mentioned the m'netters???

pie · 23/01/2004 12:39

Thats exactly what I mean! Life is great then all of a sudden screaming crying dark thoughts. And I'm hell to be with if I forget a pill. DH never understands why one minute I'll be joking along and then the next in tears because I think he's laughing at me. Thankfully I'm quite good about not flipping out infront of the children.

Will DH be away long?

OP posts:
bluebear · 23/01/2004 12:45

Probably just overnight.. flights not booked yet.. to tell the truth although mornings will be more hectic at least I'll probably go to bed at the same time as the kids instead of waiting up for him to come home (he often works till 11pm)
